It had been farther than he normally would have gone from Dahlia De Mai as of late, but he was on a hunt for food for his family now, and he needed to know the land that he was riding on. He new the land to the south of the packlands, so he made sure that he was going south with Vox and he also let Krystalle know that he was planning on going out of the packlands. He'd been doing good he thought about letting her know where he was going (though he could never know of the times when Hurricane decided to sneak out without notifying Krystalle) and he was rather proud of himself for that, like that was anything to be particularly proud of. He was a shotty father and he knew it, but he liked to try and think that he was trying his best to be the best father he could be when he was him and not Bartholomew or that new bastard that he never learned the name of. This new person was not open with themselves like Bartholomew was. They didn't walk out of the shadows and try to communicate with Mars like Bartholomew was known for doing. It made Mars wonder why Bartholomew was the only one who wanted to show himself to Mars willingly, and even when Bartholomew showed himself it was rarely recently. It made Mars wonder what was up. Was this new persona pushing against Bartholomew? Were they constantly battling at the back of his mind?

Vox stopped abruptly and twitched his large ears, which startled the Russo man who had been stuck in his thoughts. Hum? the man grunted from his maw and he cocked his head and listened. He stuck his nose to the east, where there was a particular scent coming through the air. There was deer on the air. Vox snickered lightly and Mars nodded his head as if he understood what the steed had been saying. He didn't but he knew that they both had the same common goal since they were master and steed. Mars pulled Vox's reigns and he had turned him toward the herd of deer that they were hearing and smelling. They moved slowly, believe it or not, if only so when they were heard, the deer would think that it was only a stallion and not what it really was, a predator.

They were going in the right direction and when they had gotten to a river, they had to stop, It would seem that the herd had moved across the river at some other shallow point and were moving that way. Mars only stopped because he was frightened of large bodies of water, and it took him a long time to get into rivers because of their current that sometimes was rushing water. He simply let Vox stand there at the edge of the water because he was too scared to cross. He stared at the deer that were at the other bank, teasing him it seemed. Just out of his reach.

Sorry for the bit of a wait J. Had to finish up with school and take care of some thing around my apartment. / Word Count: 550

Songan had to return home before going back out to check on Sanuye and make sure her pups made it home already. He gave a smile as he set his supplies aside. He had gotten some work done on Saxif’s bow and was sure he would be done with it soon. He would soon be done with the carving and would be able to work on painting the piece and adding on all of the accessories so that it fit the description that she wanted. The male took a moment to look over to his companion and headed out of his hut. He wanted to get back out and explore the area out on his own. He didn’t have much time for looking around since he was working and wanted to make sure his family was already when he had first arrived. He called for Rain who had wandered off as always and came to her master’s call. He smiled and climbed up onto her back. He was sure if he was going outside of the tribe, he was going to want Rain there so he would have a quick way back home in case anything happened. He soon made his way to the borders and began to head outside of them.

The rust wolf seemed to be traveling a bit further than he did this morning away from the tribe. The woods took over the area as he continued along. He was sure that this was a place he remembered coming through when he arrived to the AniWaya tribe. Songan’s golden gaze moved around as he had Rain continue forward. The sun shined through the trees and illuminated the ground. A smile came to his face as he soon found his way to the river. The water was clean and looked relaxing, though he dared not to get in. He carefully slid off his horse and sat on the bank of the river. It felt nice to relax here and get away from his work. He straightened out his braids and then turned his gaze back forward. He was sure glad that he came out here and would have to show this place the Sanuye as well. The male leaned back on the bank and stared up to the sky, though placed his arm over his head so that the sun would not get into his eyes.

Songan paused for a moment as his ear twitched. He was sure that he had heard something a bit down the river. He told his horse to stay where she was and that he would be back. He carefully reached for his knife and began to move along the bank. He paused as he noticed the deer crossing the water. Even though there was this prey here, he would not be able to bring one down with just a knife. His gaze moved to the other side of the bank, noticing another wolf He didn’t seem like he was from a tribe. He wondered if he was following the deer. Even if he was, why didn’t he just cross as the deer had. He backed away a bit so he didn’t frighten the prey when he called to the other wolf. “Hey. Are you following those deer over there?”

OOC: It's fine. +3

Mourn me down, down, into the ground
Save me, Save me, Save....

Mars had been so fixated on how he was going to cross this river and get to those deer that he failed to noticed that there was a man on the other side of the bank, paying more attention to him than to the deer. When he man called out to him, the deer heard the commotion and moved from their spot back into the forest. Mars flattened his ears as his eyes went from the fluffy butts of the deer to the rust colored face that had scared them further into the woods. Now he had to cross the water. There was no going around it. The man drew his hands across his chest and huffed. Mars had a dissatisfied look on his face as he stared hard at the man who made his dinner leave.

I was. he muttered, and snorted as he stayed mounted on his steed. The mostly husky man had still had his icy blue eyes staring at the braided fellow on the other side of the bank where the deer once were. He looked strange, like he was from a place he had not seen before. He was slightly curious but more so angry because he would not get a meal that big when he would go back to Dahilia de Mai. You scared them away. Now my family gets no food. the man called out to the other, huffing afterward. Mars also refused to cross the river. He was not stupid. He didn't want to get swept away by the river (like he would, where the deer had crossed it had been easy to swim across). He still was insecure about his swimming abilities and he was not willing to take chances. If it was still water and it was a lake, them maybe the story would be different, but that was not the case. If the male wanted to communicate over a closer distance, then the rust man would have to make the effort to swim across to Mars.

Songan’s gaze continued to move from the prey and over to the wolf on the other side of the river. He still couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t crossing to follow them, though he felt it would be rude to ask. His ears moved up as he watched the deer hear him and scatter away. He was sure he was at enough of a distance that they wouldn’t have been able to hear them, but it looked like he was wrong. He lowered his ears to the thought of the wolf’s family not being able to have a meal now. He whistled for Rain to come to him. He was sure there was something he would be able to do. His orbs moved back over to the black and white wolf as he got onto the horse’s back. ”My apologizes. I’ll see if I can guide them back here and over to your side.” With that, the red wolf turned Rain up the bank a bit and following the scent of the deer, hoping to get ahead of them and be able to lead them back to that spot.

Eventually, the old would catch up to the prey and had Rain move quietly from a distance so that he could get in front of them and have them go back the way they came. He carefully pulled out his knife and threw it near the deer so they would race back towards the black and white wolf. He slid off Rain to get his knife and follow them. He was not sure how he would be able to get them to cross the river. If he just followed them back, he was sure they would just go back up the river and continue going. He got back up on Rain and began to head back into the woods, staying a distance away from the river. He wondered if coming at them from here would push them back into the water. It was worth a shot. Songan began to pick up the pace once they were back where they were before and headed straight towards them. He had his knife ready to scare the deer in case they decided to go in a different direction from the river. If he did manage to get the deer in the water, he would follow them into the river and make sure they got across. This would also give him a chance to meet with the wolf that he was helping and lead them again if he needed to.

Songan and Rain would make it to the other side and shake themselves dry. Thankfully the warm heat was keeping them from being cold. It felt relaxing to get into the water. He pulled his equine companion up onto the bank and waited to see if the other male would come and join him. With the dear on his side again, he was sure there wouldn’t be any reason why they couldn’t follow them together.

ooc murr: Yeah sorry that mars is a fucking weirdo. +5

Vox nickered lightly and he was getting slightly restless during their hunt, a sign to Mars to suck it the fuck up and get his hips wet (if he stayed mounted then it would go to about his hips at the deepest part of the river that they would have to cross) it would only really be Vox doing the swimming. Mars didn't even trust Vox though unless the water was at most, to Vox's calves. The steed flicked his long tail and shook his head as well as tapped the ground with his feet. Mars pretty much ignored the beast as he had thrown his mini-fit and then the rust man who scared his food away even more had spoken about how he would try to chase them back this way. He then called his horse and went off after the deer. Mars stayed silent, and he did not move from his spot on the bank of the water. Mars thought about giving up the chase, and just leaving the rust male to his guilt of being an idiot and he also thought about how he should just brave up and just cross the river. Every time he thought about such an act, his heart would race, and he would get too anxious about drowning, being swept away by the river. After all, that's what mother always told him. She always told him about how she was going to chuck him into the water and let the river consume his body, to let him drown. He never wanted that to happen. He never learned to swim because he was too scared of being swept away by the river. What a chicken.

It would take him too long to decide anyways because there would be a splash to his left and he had turned his eyes towards the water, where there had been a deer swimming back towards his bank. Mars waited for it to get out of the water, and once it was out of the water, then it charged off into the forest. The rust man and his steed were soon to follow, and once they were on the bank, they shook off and then they approached him and Vox. Vox snorted lightly, and Mars looked to the rust man. Thanks. he simply spoke to the other male before he turned Vox away and toward the deer's direction before squeezing Vox's sides with his feet, signalling for Vox to take off, in which the equine obeyed immediately. The tan and black equine had galloped into the woods, Mars having to dodge a few trees because of his height on the steed. Mars had found the track of the deer quickly, and he chased after it while mounted on his steed. He had no weapons to really get the deer down so he trusted that his steed would be able to carry him at the same speed, and just the sheer weight of his body and he would need to make sure he would bite in the right place to kill the being. Vox would catch up with the deer, and with a fluid motion, Mars had jumped from the back of his steed and hurled himself to the deer. He had been lucky to land straight on the back of the other hoofed creature, and his weight crashing into it's side had made it fall over. Fangs caught the back of it's neck, but not where he had wanted it. He had gotten it on the ground at least, and even though it was kicking and trying to get back up,the luperci tried his hardest to get it to stay. He held on his tight as he could to it, hoping that it would tire out or something...

It's ok. Smile / Word Count: 509 (5 points)

Songan was determined to bring the deer back over to the other male’s side of the river. He would feel awful if he was the cause of the other wolf’s family going hungry for the day. He brushed Rain gently as he was set on his quest. He could hear the hooves of the deer running back towards the water. His trick had worked and they were returning to the other side. A smile soon came to his face as he got his knife and returned to the horse’s back. He gazed to the other side to watch for the wolf’s expression. Perhaps now they would be able to catch the deer together, maybe even now more than one since they were both on the hunt now. As the rust wolf began to cross the water himself, he turned his gaze to the other wolf, getting a better look at him. It was like his fur was unsure of which color to be and was divided down the center. There were some brown parts to him, mainly in his hair, though he still looked a bit strange compared to the normal wolf. He stood on the bank, letting himself dry in the sun for a bit before getting back on his equine companion. His golden gaze moved back over to him as he said thanks and went after the deer. The male gave a small nod before following him.

The red wolf followed after the black and white wolf, keeping to the opposite in case he again needed to guide them in the male’s direction. He had his knife ready as they came in range of the prey. Perhaps he would be able to snag one for himself and take it back home to those living with him. His orbs gazed over as he watched the male make his move, getting off his horse and onto the back of one of the deer. The male put the grip of his knife in his mouth as he followed the other male’s moves, getting onto the back of another deer before they all were able to get away. He pointed Rain over towards the other horse and to wait there. He then used his back claws to keep his grip and grabbed the knife from his mouth. He would make a quick slash to the neck, sure that this would be enough to kill it. It was times like his he wished he had his bow. He soon got off the prey and looked over to the other wolf. He seemed to be having a bit of trouble. He came over and began to hold the deer’s legs together so that he would be able to take it down without too much difficulty. He offered his knife to the wolf to end the prey’s life. Once it was all done, he went over to his kill, picking it up and calling Rain over, placing it on her back. Looks like he was going to have a good meal this evening.
