used to be clean; now i'm filthy as can be

Date: Fluid, set after Tayui leaves Salsola
Time of day: Just before sunset
Location: Dawn's Breath, The Dampwoods

She had not been to these parts in some time. Dawn’s Breath was a varied and interesting part of the Dampwoods; though, she couldn’t figure why or how the lands had gotten its name. Perhaps there had been a poet who’d thought very highly of himself when he gave it this name. It reeked of pretension.

At this thought, Tayui let out a low, growling chuckle. Yes, she hated all those attempts at honour and royalty: perhaps this was why she had left Salsola. This was why a child was dead and she was metaphorically covered in blood. The distinction between metaphor and literality was necessary because she had since washed herself clean. Her coat was a pristine white, reflected none of her sins. Perhaps this was appropriate too: she hated how Sirius and Eris had tried to present themselves better than anyone else when they were just leaders. She just hoped that she had not been like that when she had led. She knew her attempts to lead had been botched at best, mostly with her failure in Shadowed Sun: allowing Skoll’s murder, allowing Lubomir’s departure, and allowing the pack to fall apart.

She deserved this.

She prowled through the craggy mountain range, taking her time so she did not slip. She had already found a few caves and a spring bubbling up from the surface here. Perhaps she would make this her new home away from home, wherever the real one was. It was nice enough and the small hidden discoveries amused and intrigued her.
|Word Count: 222| What shall Tayui do?

Jade crept along through the craggy rocks and low plants. There was nothing much to do here in Dawn’s Breath. That was just the way she liked it. Sometimes the she-wolf regretted joining Cercatori D’Arte. There was always work to do, and never did the other stop pestering her. Never time enough to be alone. Now she was away and happy. True the pack had its benefits, but sometimes it was easier just to be on your own. The change of scene and scent relieved her. Not so long ago she had been wandering, always on the move, but that time was past.

Maybe it is time to head back to the pack, Jade supposed. I have been gone for a bit now…But they have always functioned without me. Let them be without me just a bit longer! Only when she decided against going back did she realize her legs were still. Apparently, she had stopped walking during her argument with her mind. Now her legs pumped for the fury inside her. She never knew where it came from; it just…came. Wrapped up in her rage, it was almost too late when she realized there was another wolf in the area. She skidded to a stop, only a few yards away from the other. She watched the other fae silently, waiting for nothing.

This! Big Grin

Tayui had been enjoying her own self-imposed pity session, so when that was abruptly interruped by the sudden appearance of another wolf, she was rather peeved. She figured that she had two options: she could either fake it or break it. She could fake being nice and pretend she was alright, just as she had been doing for the past two years. Or, she could instead choose to hold nothing back and break the young girl. Dark thoughts of drawing blood swirled in her head for a moment before she dismissed them. No, she couldn’t harm an innocent for simply existing. Hurting others because their appearance was inopportune for her was not how she should behave. She might have compromised some of her morals, but they were for a greater goal. Hurting a wolf would not achieve this goal.

So, instead, she asked: “do you need something, child?” She was faking it halfway, so she couldn’t muster the soft smile that had once so frequently graced her features. She was no longer a Queen so it didn’t matter what the wolf thought as long as she didn’t think Tayui was dangerous.

Tayui was only dangerous to herself.

With that, she stood slowly and took a half-step sideways. She didn’t like how this wolf was standing while she sat. She didn’t move any farther since she did not want to alarm the wolf. She just wanted to see how this would progress.
Really? Jade thought. Really? I see that she is much older than me but, ‘child’? Really?! She couldn’t help the growl that escaped her throat. Child was one of her least favorite things to be called, besides stupid. The fae was two plus years now. If the opponent had called her young’un, or something of the like, it wouldn’t have been so bad-the wolf before her couldn’t be younger than six-but child was intolerable. She already felt like a failure; she didn’t need any more supporting evidence.

The wolf had been sitting, but now it stood and moved a slight bit sideways. Jade could see that the wolf felt a little uneasy, but why? Surely this wolf was a match for her. She didn’t feel threatened nor as though she was threatening. What is with this wolf?

Realizing that the silence was becoming prolonged, almost awkwardly, Jade quickly blurted out the first thing that came to mind. “Who are you, and where are you from?” Geez, could you sound any more hostile? She scolded. But what was said was done. There would be no more words from her mouth until the white one replied.

Oho~ It is so on. 8)

The wolf looked rather anxious and then growled at Tayui. Tayui paused for a moment, wondering what this girl’s deal was, and then let out a quick series of chuckles. They weren’t so much happy as derisive and sounded more like a hawk’s cries than a chuckle. She was growling at her, really?

“Oh please,” she replied with a roll of her eyes. While she might have previously tried to at least feign some sort of emotion, now she couldn’t muster anything other than annoyance. What an annoying little girl. She ran all the way here, stopped suddenly, and then just stared at her.

Were Tayui not creating a monster within herself, she might have just politely shaken her head and walked away, wanting no conflict. But now, she had nothing else to do and nothing – or no one – to live for. Perhaps technically, but not really. She just wanted to release some of her anger. This little child, who while rather stupid, didn’t seem to have any other marks against her. Ah, well.

She took a few steps and then began to trot away.

“Don't snarl at strangers if you don't plan on doing something about it,” she added.
|Word Count: 147| ...Like Donkey Kong! Oh, and sorry for the late post. School doesn't always like me. :/

The wolf laughed at her, as though Jade was stupid or incompetent. Then she gave her a bit of “advice.” It more than a little irked the fae that this wolf thought that she wasn’t a force to be reckoned with. The she-wolf had won plenty of fight against wolves older than herself. It wasn’t hard. Usually just a snap and a tug, and the spar was over. She wasn’t usually a fight starter, but today she just didn’t feel like letting another snide remark pass without a bite or two.

“Don’t call other wolves children,” Jade growled. “Some don’t like it.” Her voice carried on to where the white wolf was trotting away. She crept along behind, wanting a fight so bad, she was almost shaking with excitement. The she-wolf snarled, wanting the enemy to turn so she could see her face, read her thoughts, win.

WC: 308. No worries. Smile I didn't wait too long. ^^
It was a day of half-comments and half-departures. Even as Tayui began to walk away, hoping to leave before the situation escalated anymore, she heard the sound of the wolf following behind her. The other wolf’s footfalls broke a twig or two, alerting Tayui to her presence. She felt like she could even sense the other wolf, but she didn’t know if that was really possible. Just knowing that the black female was following so closely filled Tayui with anxiety. She whirled around to face the other wolf when she heard the first word with a frown on her face. What? She had not called the girl a child so much as she had used it as an expression. Was she really that immature to be bothered by such a little thing? How humorous; they really didn’t grow up. She figured that the both of her sons were younger than this wolf, but was likely more capable than her in any regard. Tayui wasn’t just saying that because she was their mother, but because this girl seemed so keen on proving that she was no child that she just looked that much more immature. While Tayui had been a lenient mother with her children, this sort of comment would never have been allowed. This was not proper behaviour.

Just as quickly as Tayui had turned, she took a few short steps and moved to attack the other wolf. As with her training, she knew that her large form – larger than some wolves – would come in handy, and that her thick fur not only made her look bigger, but also provided a cover that opponents could mistake for flesh. She dodged to one side and then used her momentum to push herself forward, aiming right for the neck. She would show this girl how to behave properly in public.
|Word Count: 148| A short, bad post. :/

The fae lunged towards her, and, for a second, Jade froze. It always happened to her. She would get ticked off at someone and open her mouth. She hated how out of control she got, but she just couldn’t help it. She got angry far more easily than she used to. Half the time it wasn’t even true anger. It was just left over fury.

Jade flew away, barely escaping the jaws of the elder wolf. She lowered herself into a crouching position, her teeth bared, growling. If there was a fight, there was a fair chance she would lose, but there was a chance she could win. This wolf was a Luperci, and a strong one at that. She would just have to trust her luck and her instincts.

Darting around the left side of enemy, Jade circled around her. She lunged from behind at the neck.

Tayui is all twisted around, so in your post, you can powerplay Jade pushing Tayui down with her weight and grabbing on to Tayui's neck. Smile

Tayui put all her energy into that lunge, but all was for nought. The girl narrowly escaped her jaws, even after a split-second pause. Tayui landed heavily on her front paws, poorly absorbing the shock, sending shivers up and down her spine. Her legs ached from the impact, but she knew she could not stop to think about it too long, especially since she had been the one to initiate this attack. She turned to follow the other wolf as she circled Tayui, but the shock of the fall slowed her reaction time. She was able to turn around just enough to see gaping jaws flying at her, and quickly, Tayui met the other wolf's teeth with teeth of her own.

She was in a bad position, but still managed to twist her body and push herself onto her back legs. She opened her jaws wide and let out a loud snarl. She tried to brace herself for the impact of the other wolf, knowing that she was in such a weird, awkward position, that she did not have a very strong stance.
