Sorry, was working on this table and wanted to finish it before I posted our thread! <3 Set in the early morning hours at the mansion.

The last few days had been spent in a way that anyone who had travelled days and days upon their feet, tirelessly looking for whatever they lost - in Sylvia's case: her family - and continuing on with or without hope before finally coming to a rest: she slept. It had been a few days since Ezekiel had found the small mass of golden fur upon the borders with her equine companion at her side. He gracefully let them stay with him for however long it would take for her to recover so she could find her family again, or they found her. The option remained in her mind though, to stay here forever. It was set deep within the recesses of her mind and she would excogitate the matter fully in her mind before she would make any sort of decision. What happened to her was more then her young mind could bear to think about and she went through every moment she spent by herself over and over again. One thought crossed her mind more then any other though: Why had her parents not found her yet? Were they even trying to look or to find her?

Sylvia remained nestled up within a thick blanket that was draped around her in a nest-like fashion. It circled about her, and underneath her, and blanketed her whole body. She was buried deep within the fleecy sheets of the bed of whatever room she had passed out in the night before. All she could remember was exploring the warm mansion the night before and having stumbled across a room that held a few interesting things in it she had grown tired. There had been a bed within the chamber and she found herself wanting to take a short nap before she continued her exploration of the place. After resting her eyes for just a few moments she drifted off into a much heavier sleep and now she awoke with a start unable to quite comprehend how she got there. The memories filtered in though much like the rays of sunlight that reached through the curtains on the window lighting up the bits of dust that floated in the air before her eyes as the beams of light reached for her, brushing her face and cheek with a warmth she had almost forgotten about. Having spent most of her days outside in the sun, the air was too cold to realize how much warmth it truly offered. Now, being within the house all curled up on a warm bed, she realized how much she missed having such a comfort of strong, sturdy walls built around her.

Slender mouth open wide and her lips peeled back in a yawn as she shook the last remnants of sleep from her body. Her pink tongue slipped out momentarily, before being quickly drawn back in as she shut her mouth and lapping lazily at her paws. She shook the blanket from her face and it fell back over her ears, draped over her right ear for a second before it gave a flick to rid it of the weight. The house was quiet, and she wondered for a moment where Ezekiel was. The young sylph considered for a moment what she should do before stretching out her paws into the cooler air that surrounded her outside her little nest. The golden beauty rose to her feet, giving her thick fur a good shake before jumping down off the bed, crawling forward and stretching her back legs out in a cat-like manner before rising to her full height and starting forward. Her small thin claws clicked against the hardwood floor as she made her way towards the door to the bedroom that lead out into the hall. When she reached the doorway she carefully stuck her muzzle out into the dim room, breathing in the thick scents of other coyotes. Nothing was too recent and she figured if there were anyone in here, they were probably asleep.

Sylvia took a seat at the door for a moment contemplating whether she should go back to bed, or go in search of Ezekiel and a light morning snack. She mulled the thought over of the warmth of the blanket, but she realized she was not tired enough to return to sleep. When she made up her mind she picked her butt up off the floor and padded towards the stairs carefully padding down them one at a time. Her legs were just long enough that she did not have to jump down or have to slide down them on her belly. That would have been a hilarious scene if anyone happened to be near and it would possibly wake everyone in the mansion. Her tail wagged merrily behind her as she made her way towards the front door hopping upon her back legs to fiddle with the latch. After a moment she got it open and the door creaked as a crack of light appeared. Pushing her nose into the crack and feeling the cold she grinned and pushed a little harder as the door opened enough for her to squeeze the rest of her body through. She landed on the wooden deck with a light thud as the door swung back closed.

Padding to the steps she hopped down them two at a time before landing in the snow and making her way forth through the well beaten pathway the other coyotes made. Her tail swung happily back and forth behind her as she made headway towards the stable to see Adonis. It was not too long before the stable came into view and she pressed harder, pouncing through the snow excitedly. She came into the shelter of the large barn quickly and she paused at the doorway to peer in. There were so many stables and she could not quite remember which one he was in. A low snort graced her ears as she took a few more steps into the barn. "Adonis? Are you here?" she called out quietly, and soon enough there was an answering whinny from within the darkened barn. He was probably in the same stall as Oblak, having taken quite fondly of the mare when they had first met. She found her paws making their way towards the sound and it was no long before she could see the tips of Oblak's ears and she grinned from ear to ear when she heard another familiar whinny of the boy.

Sorry for the wait! Ves dun like horses. / 545

More than one set of travel-weary paws had found rest, although Vesper had claimed Inferni as her home since autumn. Her own rest was no more comfortable, though; only the prior night had she gotten back into the territory from her mountain patrol. Despite craving the sleep, however, she was not deaf to the usual challenge of rising before the sun.

She answered the morning’s call with almost mechanical obedience, rising from her nest and shaking the moss and loose fur from her pale tawny coat. Her lithe frame crept out under the lightening sky, blue eyes triumphantly falling upon the glimmer of light on the eastern horizon: on display from the entrance of her den. Allowing herself a rare grin, she traipsed out from the cave into the snow and immediately convulsed in a shiver at the temperature.

Damn weather. The coywolf shook her head but walked on, rushing for the sight of the forest at the edge of Inferni territory. She would do her best to hunt before she started in-territory patrols; as Optio, she had to keep tabs on and understand the clan more than she ever had. It was a difficult task, as it seemed to her that she would never understand some of the coyote that lived here, but knowing their names and making sure they weren’t doing something piacular was enough.

It was only a matter of an hour or so later that she headed toward the mansion, a skinny rabbit swinging from her slender jaws. She hadn’t visited the human building sense spending most of the night with Helotes, and it was only at the thought of him and perhaps the healer that she headed that way now. At worst her warrior friend would be sleeping in or out training already; she didn’t pretend to know his schedule. Her eyes drank in the familiar sight of the worn trails and the guest house where she’d stayed during her first few weeks injured here.

She was about to circle around toward the entrance of the mansion when the sight of a small, chestnut-golden shape streaking for the stables caught her eye. The rabbit nearly fell from her jaws before she composed herself and trotted after the small form, one that smelled strongly of coyote and newly of Inferni and the Aquila. If not for the latter scent, she might have supposed it was one of Halo’s children, but she was made uncertain and wary.

The sound of a whinny as the kid ran up to the barn made her fur stand on end, however, and quickly abandoned the rabbit as she raced toward the pup. In her feral mind, horses were dangerous; even if a large wolf might have been able to command one through fangs or through reins and saddle, she doubted that a tiny little coyote would survive their stomping. Her natural mistrust of the equines drove her to leap at the child and protect it, keep it from heading into the stables to undoubtedly get crushed by rock-hard hooves.

“Get back, kid!” Vesper yapped, crossing the last few feet between them. Her mouth aimed to grab the coyote-child in her mouth, to swing it around and deposit it on the other side of her rigid body.
