Bitter Moments
#1
A loud unavoidable yelp escaped the silver she wolf's lips as a sudden jolt of pain struck her back. With the large breath that followed the pain she smelled blood. Turning her head, she looked over her own shoulder to see four gashes about an inch apart and five inches long. Her silver pelt was stained crimson red by her own bright red blood. It draped itself over the length of her back and down her tail seeping through her fur and dripping down her sides to the ground below. Another whimper of agony escaped her as she tried to recover from the pain that hindered her. Her blue-green eyes darted every which way trying to find the culprit of her injury blurred by the pain. As she gazed around her with wary eyes all she could see was pitch black darkness. Every now and then she would see a gleam of light, unmistakable as the reflection of moonlight against another wolf's pelt. She stood up taller and more dominant trying to brush off the agonizing pain. Walking around in circles she glared into the darkness knowing she had to defend herself from someone, or something. A loud frightening howl could be heard, she spun around trying to defer which way it had come from. But, it was everywhere echoing back to the frail injured fae. Her ears swiveled on top of her head like a radar, her nose wiggling in front of her seeking out a scent restlessly.

She was in panick. Snarls rippled her muzzle accompanied by fearsome barks. Show yourself damnit! Stop being such a coward and show your face!! She yelled into the darkness. Her only response was a mocking laugh that echoed around her. It was a familiar voice, a kind voice. This was a voice she'd grown up with, a voice she had missed dearly...until now. Now it was the voice of her torturer and she hated it, despised it with every inch of her being. She lowered her head with anguish. Anguish for hearing this voice, and for the physical pain she was feeling. Rowan, I know it's you. Drosnav got you didn't he? He corrupted you just like he did the rest. If that's the case then show yourself to me. Out from the darkness the red wolf approached her. His jaws were pulled back in a nasty malicious grin. Fayne's hackles rose at the site of him. He wasn't the wolf she'd grown up with, not anymore. As he neared her he chuckled again, he came so close to her that she could feel his breath on her face. He was a considerable amount taller than her now and seemed to tower over her. She felt her body lower submissively for fear of him. But, her face said she wanted to tear him to shreds aside from the subtle longing in her eyes to make nice and reunite with her old friend. Fayne, I see you're still the same tiny unimportant scum you were back then. Suppose we'll just have to do this wold a favor and get rid of you. You see, Drosnav was right. He was always right. We were stupid children, but I'm not anymore and I'm going to show you.

In front of her eyes he began to shift not even taking a step back. His bones began altering and moving under his skin with the audible crackling and snapping of tendons. Although it sickened her she couldn't draw her eyes away from him. Loud growls accompanied his change, his salivary glands producing more saliva than his jaws could hold dripping from his jowls and onto her face. The whole time his eyes were on her and when he finished he squatted in front of her and huffed in her face, his breath was hot on her skin. Stupid, stupid wolf He spat. He raised his hand and swatted her. The petite wolf flew at least ten feet and skidded against the ground rolling a few times before she came to a halt. With much effort Fayne lifted herself and began limp away slowly. She wobbled, overcome by pain. Behind her she could hear the thud of Rowan's two feet as he walked towards her. She tried to quicken her pace but despite her effort it remained the same. Eventually she could hear him breathing as he stood behind her, mocking laughs directed towards her as she squabbled. She turned to look at him, his hand was raised ready to slash her again. As his hand came down on her she curled up into a ball, whimpering loudly.

The silver fae awoke with a loud yelp, her body was trembling uncontrollably and she was panting loudly. Her eyes darted all around the dark cave, her family all curled up sleeping as usual. Though she knew she was safe she couldn't shake the terrifying feelings that followed her from the nightmare. Knowing she wouldn't be able to fall asleep now she quietly left the den to get some fresh air. As she walked her body was weak as if she'd actually been struck that last time by Rowan, her back felt numb where she'd been hit the first time. She strode a fair distance from the cave still trembling and whimpered softly to herself unable to snap back into reality. All the things he'd said echoed in her mind and toyed with her emotions. If that ever did truly happen she didn't know what she'd do. To see her own family turned into those monsters she wouldn't be able to handle it. If it came down to it she wanted to be able to protect herself, and her new family. These thoughts continued to roll through her mind and she was helpless to stop them. Doubt encompassed her. It would have been a rare occasion if her mother, father, and Rowan had escaped Drosnav. But, she couldn't believe it unless she saw it with her own two eyes and she would have to confront it eventually so better prepare herself for it then to sit and wait helplessly. Her mind shifted to what Zalen had told her in the meadow. How dreams were reminders. They teach us our weaknesses so that we can learn from them and better ourselves. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes to collect her thoughts.

Tharin had been sleeping on the edge of the large den where everyone slept. He just didn't want to get too close to everyone else, uncertain about his place in the pack. He'd been working twice as hard as he normally did to get rid of that feeling, leaving him exhausted after the day. His sleep still wasn't as deep as he would have liked though, the restlessness refusing to leave him. So when a loud yelp rang through the air Tharin jerked awake. Wildly he looked around, thinking that Akira was having hallucinations from the fever again. Already what he would say to make everything better was running through his mind.

He wasn't there though, but in a new pack. Quietly he watched a silver wolf stand up, recognizing the scent as Fayne. He hadn't known they were in the same pack. It actually made him feel better, seeing her there. The whimpers that came from her was painful to hear though, and he watched her leave shakily. Standing Tharin followed her out to where she stood, eyes closed. Brushing her shoulder lightly Tharin looked at her. It's a beautiful night. His voice was quiet, avoiding the subject of whatever had upset her, instead working on turning her mind to the glistening sky hanging above.

OOC: Oops...I accidentally posted two. How did that happen? .__.

Fayne's breathing was still fast, the panic was slow to subside as well as the horror from her dream. It had felt so real, like she had actually been there looking into the eyes of her old pack mate. She was grief stricken by the thought of him turning into one of those monsters. His whole personality taking a complete 360 with the acceptance of the virus. Her soft whisper like whimpers continued. At least her trembling was subsiding as she realized that what had happened was nothing but a nightmare. She closed her eyes and took another deep breath, the cool air running through through hew nose and down her esophagus. Her head shook back and forth slowly as she tried desperately to rid herself of the thoughts, focusing on all the good things that had been happening. Deep in thought, she was completely unaware of Tharin as he approached her from behind. When his body touched hers and he spoke she reacted violently still feeling the need to defend herself from the blood thirsty Luperci in her night terror. She jumped back and turned around at the same time, lowering herself herself into a defensive stance. A blood curdling snarl rippled her jaws, her hackles rising with the action. The moment her eyes met Tharin's her expression softened, her eyes became apologetic and ashamed of her reaction. She moved towards him slowly and pressed the topside of skull against his chest, his presence immediately calmed and comforted her. Tharin...I thought you were someone else. I'm sorry. Her voice was warm and inviting.

She could feel the trembling come to a halt when her head came in contact with his warm body. The numbness she had felt where Rowan struck her in the nightmare had disappeared and that she was grateful for. She stepped back and looked into his eyes, her face still riddled with fright and sadness. Part of her was sad that it wasn't Rowan standing before her, she wished she could see him again as the wolf she remembered. But, the other part was intensely happy to see a friendly face at a time like this. She suddenly realized that he was standing in New Dawn territory, this meant that he'd unknowingly decided to join the same pack that she had. A burst of excitement flowed through her and a small smile creased her lips. You decided to join New Dawn! I'm so glad. She told him, the happiness evident in her voice. Her tail swayed behind her contently, the thoughts from her dreams seemed to dissipate with her sudden realization. At least for the moment.

The response was far from the gentle wolf that he'd met. Terrified from the nightmare that had pulled her awake she leaped away from him, growling with deep ferociousness. It was just fine with him, used to that reaction from the feverish Akira, fighting to rejoin with reality, combating her nightmares entering the waking world with her. Luckily he didn't have to work on settling her down as she recognized him, and came forward, pressing her head into his chest. He licked her ears softly, working on comforting the frightened female. It's fine. You're safe now. Whatever it is can't get you.

Fayne returned the rest of the way, the confusion and fright clearing away as she realized what had happened. He smiled at her excitement, pleased to see that someone was glad he was part of the pack that he was working so hard to belong to. He shouldn't have had to, if it weren't for the chill that had refused to leave from that first meeting with another pack member. Yes I did. It's nice not having to worry about luperci. Everyone's on four legs, so I don't have to worry about being towered over. It was an odd worry, bringing a chuckle from him as he admitted it.

Tharin's affection was welcome in that moment and she breathed it in. It was always best to have someone there to comfort you when you wake up from such a chilling nightmare. Nightmares that frighten you so intensely it seems to sink into your bones and remain there even when you awake. She gave the ashy wolf a slight nod when he confirmed that the night terror was indeed only a figment of her imagination. His voice was soothing and seemed to overpower Rowan's voice that had been playing like a broken record in her head. Insulting her over and over, only confirming her doubt in herself. Calling her weak and stupid. That's how she felt about herself despite the proud disposition she wore regularly. That was only a mask to cover the inexperienced weak wolf she really was. It was hard keeping such a happy figure when you have such an ardent lack of faith in yourself, but she did it somehow. She figured that being here with her new family that she would grow stronger and in time that dubiousness would fade. Eventually she would be able to defend herself and her loved ones. The silver wolf returned Tharin's welcoming smile with her own small meaningful one. Fayne laughed along with him. She too found it rather intimidating to be hovered over by a large two legged wolf, seeing as she was a tiny figure. Zalen had introduced himself in Optime form and he was gentle, kind, and welcoming. Her adoration for him was growing with time and he had given her a good start, alleviating her from her discomfort in the meadow. Though, they didn't always remain in four legged form it was nice being around wolves who enjoyed lupus form just as much as she does.

Yes, I agree. I find this place welcoming. Seeing as how most of this land has turned to a more human lifestyle, this is a suitable home for wolves like you and me. Fayne strode over to her companion and sat herself down next to him. She look up at the stars that were very bright. In the forest, the skies were littered with stars and you could even see some of the larger galaxies sprawling over the sky. It was magnificent. Fayne's eyes were soft, anyone could see a longing desire in them. For every time she looked up at the astounding night sky she saw all those that she loved who's lives had been lost. All of them watching her from up above, they were her guardians. She recalled to what Tharin had said when he first approached her. It really is a beautiful night, starts are pretty. I find the stars are quite soothing when you're upset. Without them, the earth would be a dark and frightening place at night. But, when they're here the night is quiet, calming, and the stars are your companions. She felt silly telling Tharin her theories about the night sky and found herself giggling lightly at herself. It was true though. If you're ever alone the stars will always be there. She turned to him and gave a wide adoring smile wondering if he thought she was as silly as she did. I must sound silly. Right? She gave another small chortle and looked back up at the sky, smiling as she did so. She glanced at him from the corner of her eye ever so often wondering why she felt so intent to open up to him. Usually she was withdrawn and shy but with Tharin it didn't take very long at all for her to open up. Strange.

She laughed too, clearly agreeing with the thought. That made him feel a lot better about it. Dealing with large towering two leggers was pretty intimidating when he was trying to figure out how to do stuff like he normally would. Getting someone larger than him to submit would be very difficult. Being told that the luperci lived a humanized lifestyle again didn't help Tharin picture what it was like. All that was in his mind was two leggers killing others from a distance. It was strange, but definitely useful. Why one would dislike being able to do that was confusing, even if he himself didn't want to have the virus, perfectly happy with the way he was. He didn't need those other things to prove himself a strong hunter.

Fayne returned to his first comment, and his gaze lifted up. They twinkled, so far above. Tharin had known them as guides, deities that worked to protect the wolves of his pack. Signs would be shown, paths drawn in the stars. Our guardians. His voice was quiet, proud of his heritage, of the fact that he looked up at the stars and saw those that would protect them, help them with their lives. Fayne giggled. Obviously she didn't have anyone to share her beliefs about stars with. No, you don't sound silly. My pack believes the stars are deities, existing to light our path and show us what must be done.

Fayne's eyes continued to wander over the night sky. She looked from one star to the next trying to distinguish the brightest ones. Those were the ones that were her family, her guardians. At least that's what she told herself. She'd like knowing which ones were the family members she'd lost, but she'd never truly know. So, she comforted herself by picking out her own stars and naming them after her lost ones. Her blue-green eyes kept glancing at Tharin as he too looked up at the night sky. What he said next drew all of her attention towards him. No chuckles or chortles escaped his mouth only those two words. Those were her thoughts exactly, she eyed him intently as he continued to speak. Her ears swiveled on top of her head as he spoke, her tail was thumping on the grass behind her. She'd only met this wolf a couple of days ago but already she felt like she knew him so well. Though, she knew nothing of his past and he knew nothing of hers, she would like to change that one day. She was always curious about those she met, and made it her goal to learn about them. She also wanted someone to share her own stories and past with. Everything that has happened up until now has been her burden and her burden alone. She was the guardian for her siblings when Ezreal left and that was tough. Feeding two other mouths and not being skilled enough to keep them fed regularly. It was stressful. Oh Ezreal, her beautiful older sister whom she missed so dearly. She hadn't seen her for months and wondered why she left them so abruptly. Hopefully one day they can meet again and by then Fayne will be stronger, she'll be able to make her sister proud. The dainty silver wolf inched closer to Tharin, her shoulder bumping his as she slid over. "Well, that's good. I'm glad I don't sound like rambling maniac." She chortled lightly, Tharin had cheered her up quite a bit. Her eyes flickered up to the stars once again and then back to Tharin.

Not only are they our guides and guardians, but our family. Those who we lose become stars and they watch over you. That's what my alphas told us, and what their alphas told them. But, who can ever know if it's true? Fayne tossed her head back playfully. It doesn't matter, I believe it. The silver fae turned to Tharin and nudged his cheek with her muzzle, giving a small affectionate lick. She was so curious to know about him. Many questions welled up in her noggin. But, she would have to restrain them for the time being and not let her curiosity get the best of her. It's so strange how we come from the same place, we have the same beliefs. It makes me curious about you Tharin. She gazed into his bright amber eyes with a thirst for knowledge, a bright smile on her face. She turned away from him and smiled looking past the den and into the forest that surrounded their home. Her thoughts suddenly shifting to her siblings, then to Ezreal, then back to Rowan. She wanted to find him, she wanted to confirm whether he was the monster her nightmare had portrayed him as. With all of her being she hoped it wasn't true. But, part of her believed it. Often times dreams were warnings and this brought fear to the young female. Her smile faded and eyes focused on the ground in front of her. She pawed at a small pebble that was at her feet trying to alleviate herself from the horrible thoughts. Flashbacks from her recent nightmare haunted her, the horror was evident in her eyes. How could a dream feel so real?
#9
Tharin looked over with surprise. The stars were where the dead went? He always imagined them as spirits, wandering the earth and watching over the pack. To think that they actually became the deities that they so relied on was incredible. Did that mean that the previous alphas were up there as well? Hearing her doubt it was strange. Tharin so strongly believed in what he was raised with. Doubts didn't even occur to him. The world he was in now was definitely different from what he had expected. Wolves as two leggers, beliefs that were believed while knowing they might not be true.

Fayne nudged him softly, licking at his muzzle. Tharin nuzzled her back, stilling at her words. They came from the same region, that was certainly true. Perhaps she came from the pack that had suddenly up and disappeared from the area. Her curiosity about him wasn't something he wanted though. His past, he was so ashamed of himself. He had failed his alpha, allowed Akira to die. How could he tell Fayne what he'd done, how he wasn't the great hunter he'd once imagined himself as? No matter how much food he brought in, it couldn't undo what had been done. I'd much rather just walk these lands with you, enjoy the glow of the moon. Hopefully she'd buy it, go for a walk with him and forget what she was asking about.

Fayne shook her head quickly pushing away the thoughts. It was just a bad dream, horrible actually. But, just a dream. It wasn't real, no matter how real it felt. Her eyes darted back up to Tharin, hoping he'd share with her. A look of dismay crossed her face when he evaded the question and her apparent curiosity with his sweet words. His past must be a subject he didn't want to discuss and she understood that. She didn't particularly like talking about her own past. It was painful to think back to those times, but it would be nice to have someone to open up to and share the pain that could be so overwhelming. It wasn't so important to her that she would bother him to share and hurt him in the process. She covered up her chagrin with a congenial smile and a nod hoping it wasn't obvious. Come to think, a walk could be nice right now, it would entertain her mind and keep it from the thoughts that threatened her. "I would love to go on a walk with you. It's a nice night, since we're up we might as well enjoy it."

A sudden excitement overcame her when she realized the perfect place to go right now, her ears perking happily with the thought. "Come Tharin, I know the perfect place to go right now." She stood and walked a few steps tossing her head in the direction they would be traveling. She stepped from one paw to the other impatiently waiting for him to follow her. The meadow, she had been there multiple times already. It was such a beautiful, almost ethereal, place. Even at night it was like magic. You could always hear a symphony of sounds radiating from the surrounding forest and the flowers smelled lovely. It was the kind of place you went to if you needed to relax. She'd already grown attached to the meadow in the short time she's been here, going there often practice her hunting skill on small game which was plentiful there. Of course they never improved, but she was determined to become better and never gave up.

Tharin noted the dismay, pretending to be oblivious to it. It might hurt her feelings that he'd dodged it like that, but he didn't want to tell her. He didn't want to tell anyone, as if keeping it a secret meant that somewhere out there Akira was truly still alive. He was the only one who knew she had died, so maybe just that would be enough to keep it from becoming real. His tail wagged as she agreed to walk with her. Just staying and watching what was overhead might be nice for some, but Tharin wasn't exactly one for that kind of stuff, more interested in the world he could smell and feel under his paws than distant things that had no effect on him.

Fayne seemed pleased as she thought more about the idea. Tharin still didn't know his way around New Dawn all the way, and her excited words had him on his feet, muscles rippling as he surged to stand beside her, eager to see what was out there for him to behold. He glanced at her with curiosity, tail wagging as he thought about what it was she might be taking him to see. An icy pond to skate on, a grove of pines where the prey ran with no end. The landscape was very different than what he was used to as well. Far more plants, and hills, and things he was unused to. Perhaps it was something far different than what he expected.

Fayne gave a small impatient whine as Tharin rose, as if he was taking an eternity to follow her. The silver female could be so much like a puppy at times. Maybe making up for her rushed childhood. Finally she was able to relax and worry about herself for once, not that she minded looking after her siblings. She was keen on helping others with their problems, and felt anyone's troubles were her own. Her tail spun behind her like a ruder when she saw the ashy wolf's own tail start to wag. Happy he was excited to see where she was taking him. She continued to prance in place and when he reached her she trotted off in front of him leading the way. Turning back to make sure he was keeping up. She lead them into the forest. It was dark, almost pitch black. But, the gleaming moon shone down through the trees on the leaf littered ground. The wind rustled the trees and the lights seemed to dance under her feet. Her eyes darted around following their movements as she walked, she resisted the urge to chase them playfully.

The sounds of the forest echoed around them. A slight whistling as the wind rushed through tree branches. Toads croaked and crickets chirped all around. They were surrounded by many different creatures each of them making their own unique noise to contribute the the melody. Eventually Fayne slowed her pace to come shoulder to shoulder with Tharin, walking with him happily. She glanced over at him ever now and then. Her face bright with enthusiasm and lightheartedness. If it wasn't for him, she'd be wallowing in sorrow and fear. Being tortured mentally by Rowan, a mere figment of her overly active imagination. She felt lucky to have met him. So far, he'd been her biggest comfort in this strange world. She hadn't really been his though. Shifting right in front of him probably wasn't the best idea and she regretted it. What was she thinking at that moment? Being bold like that, it wasn't her. Not at all. Then again, the way he had been looking at her, scared of what she was. It was enough to make her yearn to be in her Lupus form again. It was too late to take it back. But, she would never change in front of him again that was for sure. Intending to keep him in good graces. A demur look on her face she glanced at him then back in front of her. The meadow wasn't far from the den, they should be nearing it soon. She had to admit, the journey itself was nice. A content smile spread across her lips as she continued to walk, brushing her shoulder against Tharin's once in a while.
#13
Tharin grinned at the impatient noise, purposely slowing down on the last bit instead of moving with the same quickness that he'd started out with. She danced around, Tharin shifting around as well, waiting for what could make her so excited to show him. She set off at a trot, Tharin quickly moving to be beside her. He grinned as she looked around, meeting his eyes. Playfully he swiped at her with his tail, assuring that he was there. They moved into the woods, his eyes adjusting to the darkness, everything lit with a dim blue light. Leaves scuttled around, a wind tugging at his fur before releasing it for easier targets.

There were a lot of different noises, many of them new to the wolf from the barren lands. He'd grown used to them with time, but he still had no idea what the sources were. A submissive glance was sent his way, immediately met with confidence, tail high. She brushed against his shoulder, met with a bump from him. He grinned widely, pushing a little harder, muzzle stuck out towards her, a soft playful bite prepared to grip her. It was nice and relaxing, just going out with a pack member and wandering around, letting him learn the layout of the land better.

She was enjoying the Tharin's playful attitude when he would return her touch with gentle nudges. Cheerful whines escaped her when he would bump her back, she'd push back little harder each time. His jaws tugged at the ruff of her neck lightly. She leaned into it and growled playfully. Turning to him and licking his muzzle quickly in response, headbutting his face gently afterwards. She pranced ahead slightly. She purposely swayed her tail at Tharin, swishing it against his cheek. She looked back over her shoulder and smiled widely at him. Her nose wiggled as she sniffed the air, the aroma of flowers met her nose. The meadow was just up a head. Though, she wished the meadow was farther away. She was enjoying the walk with her pack mate. She turned and gave a play bow to Tharin, whining happily. Then she ran off through the trees, bursting out into the meadow shortly.

The moon lit up the landscape brightly. All of the different flowers swayed in the night breeze creating a soft rustling. The previously loud chirping of the crickets stopped when she entered the meadow. Probably fearful of her presence, a few seconds later they started back up again ringing in her ears loudly. Fayne's ears twitched at all the different sounds. Digging noises could be heard nearby, most likely from smaller game burying into their dens. Nose wiggling as she deciphered what animals the noises were coming from. A symphony of scents lingered. Primarily being that of flowers, such a variety of smells. All of them welling up in her sensitive nasal cavities. Her face captured the wonder she had for this place, eyes wide and ears perked forward taking it all in. It was a paradise in and of itself. She turned to meet Tharin's eyes, her own eyes yearning for his acceptance of this place.

A small battle set up between the two wolves. Each nudge was met with one slightly harder than the last, a small contest to see who would come up on top. Tharin's size easily helped him with that, holding back a lot while Fayne was starting to have to work a little harder on her shoves, hitting against the solid mass of muscles. He growled playfully in response to her soft whines, tail held proudly behind him. Fayne pressed closer at his playful grip, growling back. Tharin released it fairly quickly, licking at her ruff to smooth it back out. His muzzle was licked, sending his tail wagging happily. It was easy to forget that she was a two legger seeing her like this, bumping against him.

Fayne trotted ahead, a small growl threatening at the need to claim who was in charge, clamped down at the reminder that they were supposed to be equal, and he didn't have a clue about where they were going. Her tail brushed along his face, leading him to snap at it playfully, the perfect toy flashing before his eyes. He picked up his pace, eager to see what was there. A play bow caught him off guard, and she was off in a flash, a silver streak through the woods. Tharin leaped after her, caught in a replay of the fight, seeing the bear ready to kill her just ahead. It was playing out just so, the cheerful attitude, the beautiful sights, the turn to play, him chasing after her.

He moved as quickly as he could, heart pounding even though he knew it wasn't Akira that he was racing to save. That there was no way to save her, that the bear would come and attack, leaving her to waste away from sickness. Bursting into the meadow Tharin panted, looking around wildly. No bear. It was fine. Fayne was fine. He calmed down, tail lowering from it's stance to a more relaxed one, wagging gently. It was a beautiful place, his nose lifted to take in all the different smells, a rich bouquet just for him to enjoy, even the occasional smell of prey breaking through. It's beautiful.

Fayne tried the best she could to match Tharin's strength in their war of nudges. Eventually she gave in to him. With each push he became more and more like a brick wall. Her shoulder slamming into him and him not moving an inch. She was much too petite and lightweight to ever defeat him in a battle of strength. He knew he had won from the beginning, his posture proud and dominant. She gave him a silly smile, not caring who won or lost. It was fun being here with Tharin, the she wolf had not a care in the world. He played along when she tossed her tail in his face, reaching out with is jaws to grab it. But she quickly pulled it back before he had a chance to grab hold of it. She ran off and Tharin was quick to follow, dashing after her. If she had anything over him, it would be speed. The small wolf could run at alarming speeds, which had saved her life often in the past. Being able to outrun dangerous predators was a valuable, life saving skill.

A few moments later she was in the meadow, surrounded by her own personal paradise. Tharin was at her side, she turned immediately to look at him. His face was panicked, eyes darting all around them as if he was in danger. Fayne cocked her head at him wondering what could have startled him so badly. This was a peaceful place, there weren't any dangers threatening them at this moment. She almost asked him what it was that he saw, but he had calmed himself before she had the chance to ask. His eyes softening back up, taking in the glorious land they were standing on and answering the question that lingered in her mind. Her eyes brightened at his words, happy that he found it just as beautiful as she did.

"I'm so glad you agree. I come here almost every day now. It's so lovely, better in the day when the flowers are awake. Also, there's always game to hunt." Not that I can ever catch it. The thought echoed in her head, finishing off her sentence. "It's the perfect place." Stepping forward, she looked around at the different flowers, searching for the one Zalen had showed her. When she found it she strode over to it. "Watch this." She nosed the small yellow bud and it reacted to her touch, opening up to reveal the delicious citrus scent from before. Other flowers of the same type opened up all around them. It was a beautiful chain reaction, flowers blooming right in front of their eyes releasing their fragrant aromas. Fayne's expression was almost childlike as the flowers bloomed. Her tail wagging behind her excitedly while her head lifted to sniff the air taking in the scent. "I've never seen such strange flowers."

Fayne brightened at his words, releasing a stream of babble. His tail wagged, glad that she had brightened up at his words. It seemed that his agreement had meant a lot to her. Flowers being awake, full of color, the image of the silver wolf continually coming here, playing with the various creatures. It was actually pretty charming, thinking about it. She might not be as carefree as she always acted, but the flower meadow still held a powerful image of Fayne, happy as she could be out here. Hearing that there was plenty of small game his tail wagged. Perfect for catching a quick snack then, and could relax there as well.

Perfect wasn't perhaps the word that he'd use to describe the meadow. Wonderful, quite nice, useful all came to mind. Perfect didn't. Perhaps he simply didn't care for how similar it was to where he lost Akira, or that it didn't have the big game that he loved chasing down. Either way, it wasn't the word that came to mind. Tharin stepped over to where Fayne was, looking curiously at the flowers. They all looked the same. That is, until she touched one. It was like setting off a herd of deer, a bright wave of color flashing across the metal, a bright glittering ripple of gold under the cool moonlight. Wow... That was the most amazing thing he'd ever seen. That's incredible! His tail wagged crazily, taking in the sight. Stepping over he nudged another flower, waiting for it to do the same thing. Disappointingly, it didn't.

OCC: Sorry for my erratic posting. :O

Fayne wore a bright smile as she watched Tharin react to the blooming flowers, glad that he thought it just as amazing as she did. She couldn't be any happier, standing here in the meadow with Tharin. Sharing all the new and wonderful things she'd discovered. In all, this new land wasn't so bad and she was starting to love it. All though she thought about her homeland every day and would one day like to return, if not for a while. Her tail matched the energy Tharin's held, as it spun wildly behind him like a rudder. Gazing at him as he attempted to open a bud and start another chain reaction as she had done. Unfortunately for him, he had chosen a dud. Fayne strode to stand beside him and nudged him playfully, giving him a wide grin. She then nosed a bud right next to the one he'd chosen to initiate another chain reaction of blooming yellow flowers. Like a small gush of sunshine in the moonlight. Smaller than the last. Opening flowers that had failed to bloom in the previous round. Another burst of citrus and pollen was released tickling her nose and making her sneeze. She chuckled lightly. "Looks as though the flowers like me better. I'm sorry Tharin."

Of course she was joking, you could tell from the way she said it. Fayne sat herself down and looked around the field simply taking in the surroundings of her perfect paradise. Her eyes wandered all around the two of them, then settled on her handsome ashy companion. Finding herself wondering about him again. Why was she so intent on knowing him? She didn't know the answer but would keep her mind at bay for his sake. Knowing that his past held something dark, just as hers did. Fayne's expression became soft and thoughtful as she looked at him, unaware that she was fixating.

its fine. resisting temptation to steal your other AW XD

His disappointment was clear to see, staring at the flower. He didn't understand why it didn't do the same as the other flowers had. A playful nudge brought the confused wolf to look over to the female standing beside him, grinning softly. He bumped her back gently, only to see her pick the flower right beside his. He watched as this one actually reacted as expected, a large trail of sunny flowers spreading across the field, if smaller than the initial group that still waved lightly in the air.

He looked over as Fayne laughed, grinning. He had no idea why the flowers did that for her and not him, but it was pretty amazing all the same. Guess I'll just have to ask you to open the flowers for me. He stepped over, sniffing at the open flower, his mind working on the puzzle of why this had opened and the other hadn't. It took time, as intermingled as the flowers were, but he figured out that the yellow flowers were all the same, and were probably the only ones to do such a thing. Sadly, there were no closed ones left for him to try out. He turned, finding Fayne's gaze fixed on him. He wagged his tail softly, going over to bump her. So what now?

OOC: Dooo eeeeeet!!!! I like these two. >.< / +300

Fayne nodded when Tharin spoke, but she didn't hear a word that came out of his wolfish mouth. She was much too deep in thought to have heard what he said. She simply gazed at him, tilting her head from left to right as she tried to comprehend the mysterious wolf. Eyes wide with curiosity. An expression on her face like that of a puppy, blinking every now and then when a thought crossed her mind. She finally snapped out of it when Tharin nudged her, walking over to her side. A bright smile was her response as she started back into his bright amber eyes. Like to pieces of golden treasure they were. Her tail thumped behind her happily and she nudged him back. Hmmm...let's see." Her eyes shifted to the sky, it was still dark. The moon was high. Which meant it was still quite a while until sunrise. Mind immediately shifting to the awful dream that had broken her beauty sleep. The silver wolf stood up and walked past Tharin, towards the forest where they had come from. Turning back over her shoulder to look at him.

"I think we should head back and rest up before daylight comes. Though, I wouldn't mind spending the whole night here with you." To be honest, Fayne didn't want to return to the den. She felt as though the malicious dreams would return to her and torture her until the sunlight came to scare them away. But, it was safest to sleep with your pack where dangers were less of a threat. This meadow was a soothing place. Relaxing melodies of the surrounding forest, and the soothing aromas of the variety of flowers. Even so, it didn't stop the nightmares that plagued her. Not long ago, she had a nightmare here while taking a nap. She wasn't safe from them as long as she was sleeping and sleep was a necessity for any wolf. Forest green eyes pleaded to be safe from the dreams. How was one supposed to run from something that wasn't real?
