Happy splashes and puppyish whines filled the air as young Lucia played in the shallows of the Little River under the watchful eye of her mother. Kiara sat on the river's banks and allowed her thoroughly damp coat to dry in the midday sun. She had just finished playing with her only daughter, upon whom the young mother doted on. With no other puppies to care for, Kiara focused all of her time and energy on playing with Lucia.

From what Kiara could tell, although Lucia looked like an arctic wolf (apart form her fur coloration) the puppy had taken on her father's tolerance for heat. Lucia played noisily in the stream, completely ignorant of the sun's persistent glare. Her mother on the other hand, was hot and panting. Although the dip in the Little River had done wonders to cool her off, the summer weather was almost too much for Kiara to bear. Without any more energy, Kiara was content to watch her daughter as she sat lazily on the banks.

Loosing Kohaku had been a blow to her confidence and her heart. She still mourned the loss of her son and as Kiara watched Lucia play, she imagined Kohaku was playing alongside his sister. Kiara knew nothing of her son's fate, all she knew was that he had disappeared one day. Granted, the young mother had her theories. He could have been killed by another predator, or stolen by Amy. Amy seemed to be the root cause of all of Kiara's problems, so it wasn't all that ridiculous of a theory. Unfortunately, there was no evidence to show that the yellow mutt had taken her son so Kiara was left to simply wonder where he had gone and what had become of him.

Her recovery from the second attack was quicker and much less emotional than the first one. Having Noah and the rest of her family there was helping a great deal. Not to mention she had several things in her life to look forward to now. For one, she was now mate to Noah. Joy filled her ever day since then knowing she had someone to look forward to the future with. Hopefully a future full of love, and puppies. Not only that, but she was looking forward to the trip to Casa where she would learn how to fight. Next time Amy ran into her, Fayne would be strong and Amy would regret ever laying a hand on her or anyone else. Drifting among her thoughts, was Kohaku, who had been with Amy the last time they met. She'd thought about him every day since the lesson in submission hoping he was alright. The scar that adorned his puppy flesh was burned into her mind. If only she'd taken action sooner she would have been able to save the innocent little one from further harm. This only made her more determined to go to Casa and become a fighter.

Kiara had also been in her thoughts. She remembered hearing rumors among the pack about the white female when she came to New Dawn. How she had been bereaved when Zalen and the others met her at the borders. Fayne had never spoken to Kiara personally but she guessed that maybe there was a connection between the puppy and the arctic female. To put her mind to rest, Fayne figured she'd find Kiara and speak with her.

With added energy from the past and future events, Fayne darted over the landscape as fast as she could. The beating of paws against the ground caused a rhythm which she tried to keep up with and sync her breathing with. It helped to keep her pace steady and breaths even so she shouldn't tire as quickly. The green stone dangled from her neck, each pull reminding her of her silver giant causing an everlasting smile. Her mission for today was to find the young mother. Fayne kept her ears and nose alert for the wolf's scent and once she came across it she followed it. Within a few minutes it was strong in her nose along with another scent. Tongue hanging happily out of her mouth, she slowed to a trot and approached the two wolves. A large grin spread across her face when she caught sight of Lucia playing and splashing around in the shallow stream. The small silver wolf gave a yip to let them know she was approaching before she came to halt at Kiara's side giving the wolf a gentle nudge on her shoulder. Nobody could tell she was here because of solemn business. Hello sister. I don't think we've met before but I'm Fayne Gremory, New Dawn's Delta. Her eyes turned to watch Lucia play, the sight of a young one having the time of her life would lighten anyone's spirits. Not only that, but Fayne loved puppies and couldn't help but be amused at her antics, a small chuckle rising from her chest. She's adorable. Fayne panted, still recovering from her long run.

Word Count :: 276 Sorry bout the wait guys.

His heart was heavy and his mind was filled with many thoughts. With everything that happened, he knew that he had to go to Anathema. He had wished to avoid that place all together, but now that Fayne had been attacked once more, there were things that had to be said. Why would the leaders of Anathema let Amy attack his member once more, even after he had spoken with Aeron, and she had said that the dog would be punished? It was a slight against him and all of New Dawn, and the Alpha of Anathema would have to atone for her misguidance.

Fayne’s run in with Amy the second time had not been so bad, but it was the pup of which she spoke of that had bothered him the most. As much as he tried not to believe it to be so it was difficult to ignore the implications of the dog-woman having a wolf pup of the age described. He had wanted to avoid going to Kiara, but he knew he must now.

The Alpha had picked up her scent and had followed it, but soon realized that he was not the only one wishing to speak with her. Fayne was also there; he supposed this was a good thing, perhaps she had more to tell Kiara then he himself knew, perhaps she could settle whether it was the mother’s lost pup or not. He strode up to the two in a relaxed stance, though his face was somewhat grim. His eyes traveled down to the small female pup; how terrible it would if the pup with Amy was truly her brother.

It was so hard to prevent herself from wallowing in sadness. Even if her pain wasn't as strong as before, it would take her a long time to get past the loss of her son. Kohaku, despite his rough nature and tendency to get into trouble, had been a happy little wolf whom the young mother had devoted herself to wholeheartedly. To suddenly loose such a strong bond, the heartbreak was beyond words. Even so, Kiara still had Lucia. The tiny female had become her mother's shining light, a beacon of hope and a survivor against all odds. To see Lucia playing in the water without a care in the world, it was enough. Kiara's sapphire eyes glowed with both happiness and longing as she watched the tiny puppy splash in the shallows.

Kiara's thoughts were interrupted by the approach of an unfamiliar member of New Dawn. Kiara turned her great head and her ears pressed against her head lightly as her tail began to wag. She could smell the other before she could see the approaching wolf. The female strode towards Kiara with an air of purpose, her scars a combination of old and fresh. The grey stranger approached the mother-daughter pair with a smile on her face and a yip to announce her presence. Lucia paused in her play for a moment, but continued without much thought on the matter.

When the grey female gently nudged Kiara's shoulder, the subordinate took the opportunity to quickly inspect the other's scent. She smelled strongly of Noah and questions immediately sprang into her mind. When Fayne introduced herself and announced herself as a delta, Kiara ducked her head in an attempt to show even more submission. Hello. I'm Kiara and that is my daughter Lucia. Kiara's chest swelled with pride and her eyes glowed as Fayne complimented her daughter. She was about to reply when a familiar scent and black form appeared.

Zalen! Kiara ran up to greet the alpha with licks to his muzzle and a wagging tail. Lucia began to pay attention when the Alpha's name was called and she ran up Zalen to greet him as well. Kiara whined happily, but the back of her mind questioned the presence of both New Dawn's delta and alpha.

Fayne still wasn't used to others treating her as a higher up, but she enjoyed it and held herself proudly. The silver female continued to watch the young pup playing in the stream enthusiastically yelping and snapping at the splashes she was making. Fayne hadn't even noticed the wide grin that was spread across her face as the puppy played, it was incredibly amusing and would lighten anyone's mood. The white mother introduced herself as Kiara, but Fayne already knew her name. Even so she nodded her head and glanced over at her new acquaintance. Lucia... She repeated the name back to herself. It flowed off the tongue, beautiful and feminine. That's a lovely name, she's going to grow up to be a beautiful wolf. The white fur and brown accents seemed to match her name. Fayne could also see the strong resemblance between mother and daughter.

She couldn't help but start daydreaming about her own puppies which she hoped she would someday have. They would be every bit as beautiful, even more so since they would be hers. Now that she was mated to Noah she could actually think of such things and expect them to happen. Her tail started to thump against the ground as she thought but her daydreams were broken by her Alpha's presence. Fayne followed Kiara's lead and greeted Zalen with a couple submissive licks, her tail swaying happily behind her. Though, his face told her that he was here because of business and she soon relaxed herself and sat before him her eyes yearning for understanding.

Zalen? Is something wrong? Fayne knew why she was here, maybe it was best that Zalen was here too. It would probably ease both her and Kiara's mind if they all discussed the puppy that Amy had with her, Fayne already knew it was probably Kiara's son. Fayne also glanced down at Lucia who was energetic and happy. The presence of the young pup had her thoughts drifting to Kohaku and the lessons he was being taught. She hoped he wasn't the pup Kiara had lost with the majority of her being, but she knew that was most likely not the case. Fayne's expression also grew a bit solemn as she gazed down at the white and tan puppy who seemed so oblivious to the dangers of the world. If only she'd been able to save the puppy and bring him back to New Dawn, but she had been weak and for that she was ashamed. Forest green eyes drifted back to Zalen. She really didn't want to have this discussion anymore knowing it would most likely break Kiara's heart.

The three females greeted him with exuberance but it sadly did not lift his mood, as he had hoped it might. Instead, he turned clouded olive eyes on Fayne as she immediately picked up on his distress, like any good Delta would. It had been why he had chosen her for that position, for she seemed to pick up on the anxieties and pains of others, and gladly would seek to mend them. He turned into her and rubbed his massive ebony forehead into her scruff, both drawing comfort from her as well as physically assuring her that he was ok for the most part.

He then turned to Kiara and Lucia, a long, nearly inaudible whine escaped his throat before he spoke, I believe Fayne has come here to tell you something, and I would like to hear what she has to say. It might not be easy for you to hear, Kiara… He frowned lightly, and then flicked an ear towards Fayne, prompting her to speak.

Part of him feared what she would say, but he knew it must be heard, and if the information she spoke was what he believed, a dark shade would be coming over New Dawn, one that he knew he would not be able to ignore.

Kiara stood in the delta's presence, unaware of the knowledge that the female possessed. Kiara had heard that Amy had attacked a wolf of New Dawn, but the young mother didn't put Fayne's injury and the news together. Some part of her brain didn't want to acknowledge the obvious, especially not in front of her daughter.

Pride in her daughter and choice of name swelled as Fayne continued to compliment Lucia. The puppy was her mother's source of joy. Sapphire eyes turned to look at the carefree pup who splashed in the shallows. Kiara could almost imagine what her daughter would look like when she grew, and what a heart stopper she would be. A tiny smirk played at the female's lips as she imagioned all the troubles Lucia might get into with males. Until then, she would be her mommy's little girl.

Despite the jovial greeting of the three subordinate females, Zalen maintained a serious and heavy demeanor. It was clear to Kiara that he wasn't in the mood for any lighthearted meeting. Kiara stepped back and her blue eyes grew worried. Fayne's question only added to Kiara's anxiety and her worry grew. Zalen's words only cemented the mother's fears. What did they need to say to her? What could be so bad that it had both the pack's delta and alpha seeking her out to speak to her? The arctic mother's head bent low to whisper as heartily as she could to Lucia, Go back and play, we are just going to talk about boring grown up things. Nodding quickly, Lucia ran back to the stream with a wagging tail and a happy woof.

With Lucia at a safe distance, Kaira sat down and positioned herself so that one eye remained on her puppy while the other was focused on Fayne and Zalen. What is going on?

The Alpha was obviously upset and that put a dampened mood on their greeting and even the undeniable joy Lucia filled the air with. Zalen's massive head came to rest in her scruff and the small Delta simply leaned into him trying to comfort him the best she could while keeping a submissive stance. Her question wasn't answered, but she already knew something was wrong. By now, her own expression had grown to match her Alpha's. The dread of speaking about Kohaku was sinking in. No longer was this a casual conversation between New Dawn females.

Dark ears flicked back at Zalen's small whine, the large obsidian wolf turning to Kiara who already had a worried expression on her face. This day was going to be a sad one. As Zalen spoke Fayne couldn't help but look away, ears pinned to her head and tail low. She didn't want to be the bearer of bad news. She was given the motion to speak but froze on the spot, an audible gulp sounding from her throat. With a breath she turned to Kiara and sat herself down, head low she looked over at the worried mother. I came here to talk to you about the puppy you lost. Unsure eyes drifted to Zalen for strength before she spoke again. The second time I ran into Amy, she had a puppy with her. A male, about the same age as Lucia. Fayne restrained from elaborating on what exactly had happened that day for fear of breaking the mother's heart. If it was indeed her son, then telling her about the lessons Amy had been teaching would be truly devastating. Even for Fayne it had been hard to deal with, she'd beaten herself up about not being able to save him. The name, Kohaku. She remembered what Amy had adressed him as. That would be the final clue in figuring out if the pup was Kiara's.

His name was Kohaku. Fayne didn't say much on the situation but if Zalen prompted her to spill the details she would do so. The silver Delta looked to Kiara for the final reaction, her hopes for the pup not being hers were dwindling to nothing. Fayne hurriedly starting stating facts that would calm her. He was okay, growing well. She's been feeding him and taking care of him. Not that it would make much different. He was in Amy's vile hands and that was the worst possible situation. She didn't mention the scar the blond dog had inflicted on him, or the way he listened to her without fail, probably too afraid to disobey the same way Fayne was. Amy had control over whoever she could overpower.

Fayne began to speak, even though the Alpha could see in her stance and eyes that she dreaded doing so. But what to be said had to be said, no matter what the consequences. Zalen stood beside her like a rock, unmoving and solid, as he listened to her words. Though his visage did not even show any inkling of it, inside the Alpha’s heart was slowly descending into darkness as the truth was revealed. So it was true… Amy had Kohaku.

As the Delta finished, his brooding, olive eyes slid over to Kiara’s face. He could only imagine what she was feeling, after learning her young son was in the hands of that murdering, vile creature. What did poor Kiara ever do to deserve such treatment? Zalen’s heart bled for her. And so he moved to her side and rubbing his head under her chin, usually a sign of submission, but in this case, a show of comfort and support.

Zalen then moved away from the two females and took several steps towards Lucia but then stopped; he watched her play in the waters of the Little River. His mind roiled like a stormy sea; Amy had gone too far.

Confusion and worry had caught up to the female as she realized the seriousness of the situation. Something was very wrong, but what, Kiara could not guess. Another question formed in her mind as she watched Fayne hesitate before speaking. Why were they discussing something that was obviously important with a subordinate wolf, and a brand new pack member at that? Why would the Alpha and Delta wish to speak to her about something that was clearly sensitive?

Fayne's words made Kiara's heart stop. Her eyes widened as she froze, still as a statue. Kiara saw nothing, she smelled nothing. All she could do was listen in shocked horror as Fayne spoke. The young mother was prepared for bad news, but nothing so deeply personal as that. Kohaku. The word was practically inaudible, and Kiara's voice shook as she muttered the name of her lost son. He was alive. Kohaku was alive. Kiara couldn't believe her ears. Her puppy, her son, her little boy was alive! And he was with Amy.

The moment was bitter-sweet. To hear that her son was alive and growing well made the white mother's heart soar. However, the news of his caretaker made Kiara's heart sink just as much. She could only imagine the terrible things Amy was doing to her son. He was so small, so young. He always managed to get himself into trouble and was far from the brightest of the bunch. The horrors she must be inflicting upon him.

Kiara only vaguely notice that Zalen was comforting her. Her mind stood in a state of shock, not entirely sure what to think. Slowly, like the first rocks of a rockslide, the arctic wolf began to feel something. A bubbling anger grew from within her soul and as it gained pace the fire quickly consumed her. Anger blazed in Kiara's eyes. She looked out towards the distance where she knew Ichika once lie. White heckles raised and black lips pulled back into a snarl. Where is he? Where is that yellow dog? Kiara's body shook and her muscles tensed. She wanted to find Amy and rip her to pieces. How dare Amy take Kohaku! Where is my son? When I find that...that dog I will make her wish she had never laid eyes on MY SON!

From the moment Fayne said the puppy's name, she saw Kiara's complete demeanor change. The silver she-wolf's demeanor changed as well. She hadn't wanted to be the one to tell Kiara about Kohaku, but here she was. Her head sunk low, her eyes full of the sorrow she knew the young mother must be feeling. But, it was wrong to not tell her. The white wolfess must think about where Kohaku was every day of her life. Maybe, this would finally help her mind rest, if even a little. Fayne also knew telling her would arise other problems for the mother. Kiara repeated the name so low, even her dark wolfish ears could barely hear. Her ears pushed back as she waited for the arctic wolf's reaction to this whole thing, it wouldn't be pretty. Emerald eyes continued to dart over to Zalen for strength. This conversation was tough on all of them, Kiara more than her or Zalen.

The obsidian alpha made an effort to comfort Kiara, but she seemed to be in a severe state of shock. Her eyes didn't look to Fayne nor Zalen, but simply stared blankly into the distance, wide with shock. Fayne pushed forward to place a submissive lick on the mother's chin, hoping it would help some. But, still she sat quiet until her eyes shifted and her body stiffened. The mother's lips curled back into a snarl, now she was reacting the way Fayne thought she would. A rage so deep it could be unrivaled by any other emotion. There was nothing the silver Delta could do to help Kiara at this moment besides let her speak her frustrations hoping her boiling blood would cool with time. Once Kiara finished speaking, a low whine trailed from Fayne's lips as she pushed forward yet again to gently nudge the side of Kiara's face. We will make her pay for all she's done. I think that's something everyone in New Dawn can agree on. Fayne's eyes narrowed as well, her own anger taking hold of her. She also wanted to hunt that bitch down and give her a taste of her own vile medicine. She wanted to make her regret every little mishap she's ever done and make sure she wouldn't hurt anyone again. The Delta realized that what she was saying, was that she wanted Amy dead. There was no settling when it came to the harm the blond dog brought to others, mental or otherwise.

Word Count :: +1 This will be my last post, gotta free up some thread space for myelf XD

Kiara reacted as anyone in her position might; shock and then rage. He had never seen that look come about her lovely face but it didn’t surprise him; he was angry too, but probably nowhere near as close as she. She cried out asking where her son was, demanding rather, but what could Zalen say? He had no idea where he was now. Fayne tried to comfort her pack sister and say that they would find him, and Zalen turned back to the two girls and nodded his head, Yes, we will. We don’t know where he is now, but Amy travels around the land on a route, though she no doubt will steer clear of here. But if she comes to visit the two packs north of us, we will catch her, and if it takes too long, we will go look for her and Kohaku. There was no doubt in his voice when he said these things, for there could be no other way but that.

Zalen walked over to Kiara once more and gave her a lick on the cheek, I know how you must feel, but please, don’t do anything rash that would put you or your little Lucia in danger; New Dawn is your family, and we will find Amy and Kohaku, I promise. He gave her the smallest smile then, and then looked to Fayne and nodded, Thanks for speaking to her; your sacrifice won’t be forgotten either; Amy will pay. And with that said the Alpha turned to head towards the borders; there he would scout, and think.

Stunned, Kiara's simple mind couldn't even register the comfort that her pack mates were offering. She didn't notice the submissive behavior of Fayne who by all rights should have demanded such a behavior from the alabaster mother. Nor did she notice the pain and anger present in both higher ranking wolves. All Kiara could think about was her son, Kohaku. His name swirled around in her head like a tornado. Just the fact that he was alive was enough to throw her off her game. To hear that he was with Amy, it was worse than thinking him dead.

Savage anger flooded her mind. Kiara wanted to run, to fight for her son. It was hard for the scarred mother to think of anything else. Yet, there was a single thread that connected her to the land. Lucia. Frustrated and with nothing to take her anger out on Kiara began to pace furiously back and forth. Vicious snarls flew form her lips like curses and her eyes blazed with an unrivaled hatred for Amy.

As she paced, she listened to Zalen and Fayne speak. Their words were painful to hear. Kiara didn't want any future promises, she couldn't wait. The longer she waited, the more precarious her son's welfare became. How long till Amy killed him or corrupted his young mind? Kiara paused in her pacing long enough for Zalen to give her another comforting lick, but it was clear that Kiara was in no mood for comfort. She wanted results.

The comforting splashes of Lucia's play had stopped. Her mother's sudden transformation into her angered state had not gone past the puppy. Lucia sat on the river banks, watching with large round eyes. Kiara, somewhat placated by her daughter's presence, strode over and wrapped her body around the small puppy. Lucia gave a whine, afraid and confused. She didn't know what was going on, she didn't realize the trouble her brother was in.
