My, how things had changed. One moment, she'd been in a happy state. The next, the packlands were bright with the flames that her brother had caused. At that point in time, Aurèle had not been sure just what to do. Worried of her future? Not really. She'd gotten drunk a few times in an attempt to forget the insanity that her brother had caused. Indeed, she'd even hung around the packlands for days after the burning, where she'd tried to pick out her posessions to no avail. Aurèle traveled for quite awhile, picking up the pieces of her shattered life, learning as much as she could, teaching herself to read and write. But finally, Aurèle had had enough and forced herself to do something she'd hope she would never have to -- crawl her way to Jaded Shadows, where she'd heard that her sister now led, and ask for acceptance.

She'd admit it, she and Tayui had never really gotten along. Different in more ways than one, the two sisters were always battling it out and Aurèle came up on top more often than not. But those days had been over long ago. Her sister was actually found to have something inside of her head and made something real of her life. She was even a real leader now. It seemed unfair to Aurèle, who had become so used to being better than her sister at everything. And how difficult it would be now, as she headed towards the great mountain that belonged to her sister's pack, to come and ask for acceptance from her own sister.

But alas, Aurèle had always been a proud little thing and she refused to let her sister get the better of her. So, with her head held high, she made her way towards the packland. Up on the mountain, dull as it was, the trees were bare with winter and a light snowfall had left its mark on the territory earlier. There was a chill to the air that Aurèle enjoyed. Winter had always been her favorite season, so light and gentle, yet deadly if one was unprepared. Coming upon the border of the pack, she waited for someone to come across her, hoping dearly that it would not be her sister, for to face her after so long would be a difficult task indeed.

lezbn Big Grin

lezbn It was funny how things worked. When you really wanted something, there would be no possibility of it happening, and if you desperately wanted to avoid something, you would meet that very person. That was what happened when one tended to leave everything to luck and chance. As if to spite you, chance would cackle as it did everything possible to do the opposite, like a petulant puppy. The Aufpasser would be mighty angry when he or she got a hold of that puppy.

lezbn She had not checked the borders in a few days, for Lucifer had been doing a fine job keeping up with his duties. Not only was he working as the sole Spaher, he was also helping the pack out a great deal watching over Fatin's puppies. Though she did not know the exact details of the affair, Lucifer and his mate Deuce had come to the pack to help Fatin, whom Tayui believed he was either related to or very good friends. Now, however, she had felt a bit restless, and found the urge to take a walk had led to a full-fledged border check. While she preferred to remain in Jaded Shadows in case something (anything) happened, it was always a relief to know that there was another Alpha she could rely on in such times. Reflecting on this, Tayui realized how well she was doing, how happy she was. It was a blessing, especially considering where she had began three years ago.
lezbn She slowed her pace, moving with caution and stepping carefully around the ice. The snow had seen frozen in patches, and some parts were more tricky to maneuver. She paused, watching as a flash of blue caught her eye. She descended down the small slope, moving carefully and trying to figure out what that had been. At first she did not see anything, but she realized it was another wolf's eyes she had noticed, for the other was almost stark white, invisible in the snow. "Might you have a particular reason for wandering so close to our borders?" She eyed the female, keeping a fair amount of space between them. She could never be sure whether a stranger was a joiner or a foe, and though nothing terribly bad had ever come of it, she could still not help but be cautious toward those she did not know.

Fate was a cruel being, indeed. This thought was on her mind as Aurèle noticed with a grimace the figure that was coming to meet her on this windy day. A creature very alike in physique to Aurèle herself, the white female arrived shortly, a gal who's image had remained engraved in Aurèle's mind through the years, despite her various attempts to rid herself of it. Here she was now, her own sister, standing tall and proud, much like Aurèle had always been, back when she had been the more accomplished of the two. Now, Tayui was far better off than her sister, with her leader status and her good life, while Aurèle had been traveling the world absently, with no real direction in life.

Still, Aurèle could find some pride in herself and if it meant she had to continuously remind Tayui of their puppyhood days, back when she had been the better one, she would do it. Anything to make herself feel better. The wind picked up now, carrying with it a flurry of snowflakes that blended into Aurèle's already snow-white pelt. When Tayui arrived, Aurèle searched her sister's eyes for any sign of recognition and was mildly disappointed to find that there was none. The question caused a smirk to appear upon her face. What a change it was, to see her sister in a position of authority, so confident in herself.

"Come now, Tayui, I'd think you'd be a bit happier to see your sister?" she remarked absently, crossing the borders with ease, eager to see the reaction of the sibling she'd never really gotten on well with. In case the matter had not addressed itself plainly enough, Aurèle presented herself openly, "It is I, Aurèle. I've traveled for years now, ever since the packlands burned down," she said, with a hint of sadness in her voice before continuing, "But I'm ready to settle down and make something of myself. Have you a place for me in your pack, sister?" It pained her to have to ask of such a large favor from the sister that she'd never been particularly kind to, but drastic times called for drastic measures, unfortunately.

lezbn Tayui had seen ghosts all her life, but this instance was perhaps the most peculiar. She had a 'friend' that was a ghost, a crow in fact, who had been 'assisting' her in learning low speech. She had met the ghost of her friend Fly Agaric after his death, seen the flickering forms of many souls long gone in the Haunted Woods. But why this one? She had never thought Aurèle had lived an unfulfilled life and never had she imagined that her sister would return to her. To say that they had not gotten along would be falling short. The two were always raising their hackles, always arguing over something. Of course, Aurèle always won, and their mother always sided with her, but Tayui had never learned. Now she had.
lezbn "My apologies, sister, but ghosts cannot join packs. You'd be of no benefit to us. If you've good intentions, you could find a home in the human city to the South, or the Yawrah if you'd prefer." She chuckled at the absurdity of the situation, amused that her sister had the gall to come back from the dead and ask for a place in her back. Tayui had seen the destruction, seen her family die - she knew Aurèle was dead. There was no other possible explanation for this unexpected arrival. Even so, she supposed it was nice to see her sister, grown up or not. She would have to ask her about that - how she managed to 'grow' in her spiritual form. All the ghosts she knew had retained the appearance they had at the time of death. In fact, there were a few other things she would ask her, about dying, the fire, her brother. Perhaps Aurèle had even grown up while being dead.
