Protect his family? Nayru smiled at the remark, although she wasn’t sure how applicable the statement was to the realities of the boy’s life. The patch work girl understood the sentiment, although she had no family left to protect, she was dedicated and devoted to Dahlia de Mai. Daily she was beginning to think of herself as less an individual with her own desires and more an entity belonging to Dahlia de Mai. Her body and mind were there to serve the pack, to protect them, to better them. Only her soul was left for herself, and that could only be reclaimed when death took her. Aro perhaps did not mean quite this when he said he was there to protect his family, but it was the basic instinct, the inner drive to be part of something, that drove them both, Nayru was sure. " Do you have a very large family?"

They walked on, and Nayru let him question her, although it was strange. Very few had asked the girl about herself, how she spent her time or what she thought and felt, who she lived with and how she liked it. Those in Dahlia de Mai would ask, occasionally, but they knew her well enough that they didn’t have to. Some saw her daily, and so never did they focus too intently their interest on her. Of course others had questions, outsiders, but they asked of Dahlia de Mai, not of her. To have Aro’s interest in what she did, where she had explored, was odd. Pleasant though. "I’ve explored most of the northern shore and I’ve been to Aniwaya. Also, much of the forest between Dahlia and Aniwaya, but never so far south as this. There is a city below Dahlia too, and a forest on the other side." All three sides of Dahlia de Mai had been conquered, and at this Nayru felt accomplished. Perhaps she still did not know the other packs well enough, but there would be time for that too.

They came to the incline and Nayru prepared herself to jump easily down beside the blue eyed boy. Her lithe body could be very catlike, and she had no qualms about making the leap and landing, but she paused, realizing that he was offering her assistance. To refuse would be rude, and Nayru was nothing if not polite, so she gracefully accepted the offer. Placing her palms in his hands, she allowed him to help lowered herself, and smiled sincerely as her feet found solid ground. " Thank you." Nayru removed her hands, noting the warmth of his own as she withdrew, and continued on, following his lead.
