"Four... Five... Six... Seven... Eight... Nine... Ten"

He counted slowly, closing his eyes tightly so that he played fair. In truth, he could have closed them just enough to appear closed, but they were in fact able to see. But he decided to be honest and far, so the scrunching of his eyes was enough to prove that he wasnt looking. Cinnamon-backed ears strained to hear which direction she had taken. Her screech of the starting word still rang in his ears, but he could clearly hear that she had taken off to the east, towards the Victorian house that they both called him. To his surprise however, she skidded and came hurtling back the way he had come. Perhaps she had changed her mind about where she was going to hide. Maybe she thought she would throw him off the scent if she doubled back on herself. A soft chuckle escaped him as he waited a few more seconds, then threw open his eyes.

Apparently not. She had whizzed past him, as if to go the other way. He heard the tinkling laughter that was common amoung puppies her age. It was childish and sweet. But as she flew past him, she put the brakes on. Confusion lilted the young mans expression as he watched her stop and face him once more. She couldnt hide in plain sight like that- it completely defied the rules of the game. A thought struck him for a moment- what if she didnt know the rules of the game. He went to try and ask her, but her light puppy voice yapped over him and he shook his head in disbelief. Tag instead eh?

"Somebody doesnt know the rules of hide and go seek!"

He teased, a light dancing in his green eyes. He enjoyed days like this, where he didnt have to think much. Recently he felt as though he was growing up too fast sometimes- he never played with his brothers like this. Perhaps when he dragged them to the island for a picnic, they could play like they used to. It made the young man sad for a moment and a frown tugged his smile down before the gentle pressure of her tawny grey paw upon his made his head snap up. Green eyes connected with brown as she look at him, gauging his response, before jumping back enthusiastically and yelling in his face. He was 'it' then, was he? A booming bark escaped him as he watched her run, deciding to give her at least a little chance before he was on his paws and after her.

"I'm gonna get you Mia! There's no escape!"

He took two leaping bounds after her before he slowed his gait down to a restrained trot. She was small and despite his emaciated body, he was still much larger than her. Though thin, there was no doubt that when he put on weight, Saul was going to be a big body. Playful paws batted at the young girls legs, occasionally catching them on a claw. It was never enough to fully trip her, which was a bonus. A wicked grin spread over his jaws as he took a flying leap and landed in front of the fleeing girl, placing his own paw on her chest and gently pushing, aiming to stop her in her tracks. "Tag!" He murmered before twisting around and running in the opposite direction. She better be able to keep up with him.
