Hybrid flicked his ear in anticipation as Kesho considered his words. There were many reasons he did not enjoy engaging in conversation, and the required back-and-forth between participants was one of these reasons. Hybrid didn’t care if someone needed to take time consider what he said – he was impatient nonetheless. Having grown up most of his life without his sister, he acted like an only child: spoiled, impatient, and insolent. He had also spent a great deal of time never talking to anyone and therefore found it odd to talk to another being for a long period of time. He supposed the only one he didn’t mind talking with was Gabriel, since he didn’t require much from Hybrid and didn’t mind that Hybrid usually didn’t have much to say.

When Kesho replied, Hybrid nodded curtly. He frowned when Kesho speculated over Gabriel’s capabilities – certainly, Gabriel was indeed capable. It angered Hybrid to think Kesho, an apparent older member given that he knew of Inferni before the fire and of the chaos that had once defined the clan. Now, when wolves heard the name Inferni, Hybrid doubted it carried as much fear or hatred as it once had. Oh, how the mighty had fallen!

Hybrid’s frown deepened in concentration when Kesho elaborated. Hybrid wasn’t sure if he agreed with him – it seemed preposterous to question Gabriel’s capabilities, but at the same time, he missed what Inferni had once been.

“Inferni’s lost some of its glory, but we’re still alive,” he replied gruffly. “Too many fucking wolves in the clan now. And stupid members. We got plenty of those. Fucking Syemv scum in our fucking clan,” he added. He punctuated his words with a low growl. Fucking Silas and his fucking Syemv wolf family. Like Kesho, Hybrid missed the days when anyone smelling like Syemv was automatically the enemy.
