China liked Shiloh. It was a simply emotion to feel towards another mortal individual, and one that the silvery girl prided herself in giving easily. But, more than that, China was actually interested in Shiloh, and that was something much more difficult to achieve from the coyote girl. She was good at faking interest, oh yes - wasn't everybody? - but her attention span was as fleeting as a sunshower, and often prone to absolute lapses of concentration. That was why China liked Shiloh, because Shiloh... Shiloh was interesting. There were many ways for people to be interesting in the Lykoi princess' opinion. There were those who had a good story to tell, those who were blessed with an intriguing appearance, perhaps those who held interesting company. But the ivory girl had something rarer than all that; she had an interesting mind. China could sense it in the way she held herself, the way her pretty blue eyes wandered here and there; Her every mannerism made the curious coyote further attached to the pretty stranger. She was not family, but the tan-blushed girl felt a connection to her regardless, for their stark differences was clearly what made them most alike. Unlike Shiloh, she understood the intentions between the common articulation 'opposites attract' very, very well.

It was warm where their palms touched, and the simple connection made the hippie-born child feel relaxed. Strangers did not hold hands, and neither did foes. They were friends now - It was a simple as that. Aware of her companions meek willingness to wander where the silvery pied piper took her, China allowed her earth-dusted feet to choose a path at will. Earthmother provided, and they were sure to find something to lift the ivory girl's spirits soon enough.

As she spoke, the coyote girl listened intently, although her expression was absently mild. Cunning Lapis Lazuli returned regularly to seek the sweet cornflower blue of her newest associate as she talked about her absent father. It was strange to consider that someone so neat could have lived in Inferni, but seeing as China herself was rather knew to the territory, she decided not to judge. Nor did she ask why Shiloh no longer lived with her father, as there was clearly some unpleasantness there, and the Lykoi girl truly wished to see her interesting ivory companion smile again.

A fluttering of gentle palettes caught her attention, and although one ear remained tilted to hear the last of the girl's words, it was clear that China's attention had momentarily shifted. A spasm of delight brightened her impish face, a delighted smile curving about pixie maw. The butterflies were passion in motion, beauty in flight - pupils narrowed so that she could gaze on them in absolute rapture, enthralled by each minuscule wingbeat as the cacophony of colors swelled to fill the heavens above the pair. Her heart beat a little faster, tan-blushed hand tightening its grip on slender snow-white.

Shiloh's voice distracted her daze, and with a look of puzzlement, China's gaze returned just in time to see her new friend dip her gaze. Immediately, she felt contrite - Oh, she shouldn't have asked that question, silly girl! You made your new friend sad! For a simple moment, the silver-dappled sylph watched Shiloh with a surprisingly heavy gaze, for one who's heart was such a fickle organ. They were alike, in that respect - Each new the sorrow of missing one they loved.

Suddenly, China was pulling the ivory girl. "Come with me," Her lyrical voice spilled out excitedly, as though she had made her mind up on something. The earthmother was sending them a sign, and China knew just how to read the words she wrote on the backs of fluttering butterflies. Tugging insistently at the prim girl, she changed their direction and broke into a run after the flow of insects. "Come on!" Voice was insistent now, and branches whipped past her, but keen cerulean gaze was fixed on the colorful spectrum ahead. After what felt like only seconds, China broke through a tangle of gnarled branches, and burst onto a spectacular scene. The butterflies had led her to an oasis of flowers - The last of the season, before winter stole their sweet fragrance away. Blooms of pink and blue, coral and lavender thrust up from the soil in spectacular array, flanked though they were by brittle thistle and vine.

Somewhere on the short run, China realized that she must have released Shiloh's hand. She turned around expectantly. "Shiloh? Look... Look at what we found!" Sounding slightly breathless, wide blue eyes sought the dainty form of her meticulous friend.
