Skoll had bought enough time for Terra to escape, and so at her cry the blonde puppy whirled around and threw himself in next to her, curled up close to her ruddy body. He grinned out at the imaginary humans fighting and released a howl of triumph—one that was high in his childish voice but echoed throughout the hollow log in a way that made him feel powerful. He started to spin in tight circles until coming to the edge of their shelter.
“The stars!” the Prince proclaimed, and he leaped out of the so-called sky beast. Being a land animal, he had no concept of what it was like to really fly or really be up so high, so he simply spun in circles as if the heavens were simply a shelf—out of reach but touchable.
Then he spun back to Terra and grinned, waiting for the conclusion to their story-game.
