We still kill the old way

1000+ Okay, posting order ; Svara, Cwmfen, Flayra, Firefly, Lubomir, Cercelee and Slay. To not drag it out too long, if a reply is not posted within three days after his/her turn, that person will be skipped for that turn.

By the time the first figure appeared in the gloomy light from a grumpy morning sun, the thin layer of snow where his bum rested had melted and disappeared. His tail had fanned some more powder snow away from his body, but small flakes kept floating down to the cold earth around him. The brief feeling of tranquillity died when Svara’s footsteps reached his chocolate coated ears, and the silent moment was broken. That was not to say she had disturbed him, and Haku was not a being that was suited to be at peace with the world, so she had essentially saved him from going into himself and discover exactly how much of a misfit freak he was. Her body sat down a few feet away, and for once she seemed to grant him some rest from her smarty-pants replies. She of all should know why they were here, since he was sure she had failed to find something to gobble in his house. Goddamn youth. To think there would be more soon was a thought that he avoided with amazing skills, because it would have shook his spine and given him a need to hide away in a corner and cry. Small miniatures of him and Firefly was worse than a bunch of Svaras, he was certain of it. The world was cruel, and very much so.

The second to arrive was therapy to the vision. With her, the memories from that particular night came back headstrong and teased him with brief images and her scent. It seemed to fade away when she addressed him politely and greeted him as her leader. They had not talked about what had happened, and by her careful way of acting normal around him, he assumed it had been nothing more than an insignificant one night stand, and he scolded himself silently for being so foolish to have believed that it perhaps had meant a bit more to both of them. His response was just a nod accompanied by a vague smile, and the bird received nothing but a dull glance. There were many birds in these woods, and this one caught no particular interest. Another puppy and (why?) another bird arrived, and the sub-leader caught himself glaring sullenly on both the birds, wondering why it seemed to be so fashionable to have pets these days. It was a human like trait that he was not fond of. His tongue clicked lazily against the roof of his mouth as a brief nod was given to Flayra. Both puppies were still here, and it suited him excellently (even though he had only called for the adult members), because they were at the perfect age to learn the ways of hunting together with several individuals.

A fat ugly hag was the next to arrive, and the Lilium made sure to avoid gazing in the big blob’s direction. Today’s hunt was likely to allow Firefly to participate as well, and he could always hope something happened to her. His ears flickered as he replayed his own thoughts. He ought to be ashamed of himself. Funny thing was that he was not. The three last joiners were met with mere nods, although the one to the only Dahlia wolf above him in the hierarchy received a slightly deeper one. It was better than their last meeting, but oceanic eyes wandered a bit restlessly after an ashen female that shared the title as sibling, but Mew was only present on the fur of Lubomir, and only the odour of her, that was. The male clicked his teeth and looked at the majority of the pack, his eyes resting a few additional seconds on the Head Hunter of the pack(Maybe Slay would have preferred leading the hunt? Haku momentarily decided against it, today it would be him leading them), while Firefly was completely skipped again. The saying that pregnant women were beautiful was obviously just a myth, because Haku’s appetite was gone.

Thank you all for coming. As you might see, Dahlia have grown a little these last months and this means more mouths to feed. We have taken in two young wolves and everything is suggesting there will be more soon. His head nodded in Firefly’s direction, and he kept his jaws glued together to make sure his stomach would not be too tempted to force up whatever that was jolting around in his guts. This could be a good way to get acquainted with new faces, and hopefully Svara and Flayra will gain a valuable lesson in hunting. He nodded at each of the puppies respectively as their names were said out loud, and the Lilium made a mental note that he would talk to Slay about further training in the art of catching smaller game if the younger ones needed it. A pink tongue swept across dry lips before he spoke up again. I have localized a pair of deer near the curved part of the river in Oberon’s spring. With such thin ice they cannot cross the river, and the tactic would be to surround them and get both down, if luck is with us. Firefly, Svara and Flayra shall act as scarecrows and keep on distance. You are to make sure the game does not get past you if they come your way. We will start by creating a big half circle and then slowly decrease it, with the three mentioned falling a bit behind, and the rest of us go in for the kill. We will focus mainly on the dove, but I would like to see the stag go down as well.

Haku did not want to target too highly, but it would have been great to get both animals down. He wanted to be able to put some dried meat aside for Svara and Firefly for when the birth crept closer. Without realizing it, the male was slowly starting to act like the responsible creature he should be. He had a family to feed. If he had asked himself why, he could not have given any answer, but luckily he was unaware of this. Any questions or suggestions before we head for the river? The male looked at the pack, and his eyes wandered from one member to the next, only skipping Firefly a third time. He had not hunted with this tactic before, but in his mind it seemed reasonable, and it would trap the animals that were in targeted.
