I've got soul but I'm not a soldier

Haku took control of the proceedings, even though their Rosea was present. Slay listened calmly, not at all concerned that as Head Hunter, he should probably have something to say. Haku's plan was sound; he met Cwmfen's eyes with a smile, certain that she had to be reminded of their paired hunt as well. It was ambitious to go for two kills, but with this many able-bodied members, it at least was not impossible. The last pack hunt felt like ages ago - he had been the only male back then, so he and Hanna, their herbalist at the time, had waited in the ambush position together. It had been a successful hunt, but with little Cercelee, distracted Colibri, and pregnant Mew running down the deer, it could have gone badly wrong. Now, once again, there were unborn pups on the line, but at least Haku was being cautious about their welfare.

He watched from a bit of a distance as the pups voiced protests, the darker one bratty, the pale one self-conscious. They were both very different little girls, weren't they? His first thought was that they were probably sisters, but it certainly didn't seem the case now. It was merely coincidence that they both washed up at the same time. It was strange to watch Cer comfort Flayra, though -- he hadn't struck her as the motherly type, and yet, she seemed to know exactly what to say to put the adolescent at ease. ...She hadn't returned his greeting, though. Had he done something to actually annoy her?

He let his eyes wander to Firefly, the fiery girl with the swollen tummy. So that's what pregnancy looked like in person, was it? He felt a touch of sympathy for her, although now wasn't the place to show it. She was clearly a very proud wolf, and not the sort to be pleased by motherhood. He could only hope she wouldn't take it out on her unfortunate pups... Unlike most of the pack, Slay really didn't have much of a reason to dislike Firefly. They hadn't slept together, nor did he have any relatives that she had toyed with. The main reason things were awkward between each other was that she had seen his narcolepsy first-hand, and that made him embarrassed when he woke up and she had left him there. They hadn't spoken since, as though it had somehow personally insulted the Sadira.

Slay watched curiously as Firefly cast a suspicious glare towards Cwmfen. What problem did Firefly have with Cwmfen...? And wait, what problem did Cercelee have with him? He was always clueless, it seemed...

"If it's a true pincer movement, the center wolf takes the kill," Slay murmured in response to the grey male's query.

"Or in this case, 'kills'." If Haku was leading, it would probably be him. That was sort of an unspoken rule, unless the male didn't want blood on his hands today. Who could tell? Slay shifted on his paws, the farthest away from the main group, but ready to get going. If Cer didn't want to talk to him, and Cwmfen wanted to stay on the other side, then he would rather get it over with...
