They had failed, and something had to be done. Gabriel, fresh cuts on his body, stalked through the cold morning air with Samael trailing behind him. The fury in his body was radiating heat, but it now was no longer his alone. His mother had been wronged. Inferni had been wronged. No part of this could go unpunished, and Gabriel intended to see this finished. Quickly, the charcoal-brushed coy-wolf made his way towards the center of the territory, and let out a demanding cry. There was no option—this was clear in his voice.
And Inferni came, one after another, each face puzzled, waiting for an explanation. Gabriel did not wait long before he began speaking. “As of today, we are at war.” There was a moment’s pause—a moment in which faces changed in a dozen different ways. “Dahlia de Mai is now being led by a madman, Haku Soul. He has attacked us before, and recently attacked our Centurion.” No further explanation was needed. What had happened to Kaena was terrible, but it was not his place to use it as a banner for his own personal battle. “You are not to allow any wolves past our borders. Dahlia de Mai has invaded our home before, and I don’t put it past them to do so again.”
That was all he had to say, and the Aquila fell silent, knowing that more voices would soon join his own.
