a warning to the people, the good and the evil

Silas had traveled to the furthest corner of Inferni’s borders, walking along the coast and looking out into the Bay of Fundy. Though he was now a member of the clan and spent more of his time here than in Halifax, Silas’ thoughts had yet to leave Russia or even their journey across the Atlantic in his father’s ship. The Bay brought about some memories of his old life, and the Russian felt a small ball of homesickness work its way into the pit of his stomach. He would try all he could to ignore it, but the absence of his brother Anatoliy and mother did not help in convincing him this was home.

Just as the others of the clan, Silas’ dark ears swiveled to catch the call from the Aquila. Though he had not met with the man face to face, Silas had seen him before walking amongst the clan’s lands. Like Silas, it was clear that the Aquila was a hybrid whom shared the blood of dogs. Though it was tamed in Silas’ appearance, it seemed as if much of it had transferred to Gabriel.

The Russian was one of the last to arrive and he hoped that no one took notice. He let his icy gaze travel to the various souls who had come to gather, finding comfort in the familiar and looking on in curiosity at those he had yet to meet. He found Vieira and offered her a thin smile, as talk of war reached his ears. He looked towards the Aquila, and then to Kaena. Though not all of this made sense yet to the youth, he was trying his best to follow along. Their clan was now to be at war with one of the wolf packs. Silas, a hybrid himself and not one with much bias against wolves, didn’t know what to think. He let himself stand there in silence, curiously observing what the other coyotes of Inferni had to say.

As words were exchanged, Silas found his gaze jumping from one member to the next. Finally, his icy blue eyes came to rest on the dark copper hair of the Hydra. A thin smile crept to his features and a swirl of emotion stirred in his stomach. It had been some time since he had last seen Halo, and her mere presence seemed to get the boy’s heart racing. He turned away from her, finding Hybrid. Instantly, the playful uncertainty of youthful attraction was turned into intense anger. Though the boy did his best to conceal his true feelings, he looked on the other Hydra with distaste tainting his mouth. Though he would fight alongside Hybrid, he would never feel anything other than a sense of loathing for the man.

Silas turned his eyes back on the Aquila as he spoke. And although he had never spoken to the man, there seemed to be a great sense of strength radiating from the de le Poer. Silas saw some reflection of his father, for whom he had great amounts of respect, in Gabriel.
