WE'RE GONNA GETCHYU DAHLIA D:<
@&#&$Oh, he knew it would not be so simple. If it were, Gabriel would be calling them together now to rejoice, to celebrate he and Samael's success in vanquishing an enemy of the clan once and for all. As it stood, their mission had failed and additional casualties were inevitable. Haku had made his point clear.
@&#&$As always, there was a difference between starting a fight and finishing one. Make no mistake--if he caught anyone malicious trying to infiltrate their border he would stop them. He had no reason to promise this to anyone; as Inferni's scout it was simply assumed. Anselm merely saw little sense in storming Dahlia's gate--it was too easy for Haku to twist it in his favour, too easy to make the coyotes look like the bad guys.

@&#&$The plan formulating in his head would require one thing above all else: patience. He would have to wait. He wouldn't stand a chance if he went after the devil in his own domain--he'd come out no better than the Aquila and his brother, if not worse. He had no idea what might happen all the while, but he would have to wait until Haku grew too bold. The madman had rushed them before and he would again.

@&#&$Anselm would be ready. In the meanwhile, he would find other ways to contribute. The greenhouse project jumped to the forefront of his mind. If they were in this for the long haul, they would need medical supplies. Cassius and Fritz could help him. Perhaps he could plan out a viable escape route if the shit really hit the fan.

@&#&$Though many were silent, a few made their voices heard and he listened intently. Anselm knew nothing on the details of traps (or even what they looked like), but it was easy to assume one thing: "I'm not sure a trap would hold them by the limb, but if it could mangle 'em in the process of getting out it's just as well," he addressed Cassius. The Dahlians too were shifters--they'd use their thumbs to disengage a trap just as easily as the coyotes. "The best warning system would be something subtle; preferably something not in direct contact with the trap itself," he added after Cotl. "A scent would be too obvious."
@&#&$Already he had an idea. "My suggestion is a series of rocks arranged in skewed triangles. A trap would be at the centre of each triangle; each point could lie within one to three metres of the trap itself. If the rocks are different colours, they will appear random and blend in with the scenery." Here he rose to his feet. He picked up a small twig with his teeth and stepped up before them.

@&#&$"Suppose this is the trap," he explained, before trotting about and placing a seemingly random selection of rocks in formation. "One slab of red shale, one piece of white quartz, and one chunk of mottled granite," he explained, pausing after he said each name and holding up the individual rocks in his mouth so they all could see. Each was immediately on hand and would hardly appear out of place in their territory.

@&#&$"Everyone would need to keep alert, but it's doubtful that any outsiders would pick up on the pattern. The more varied between each trap the better," he said, illustrating his point by moving one rock further than it was before and the other two closer together. The triangle had changed shape considerably, yet a triangle it remained. "We could even set up some dummy triangles with nothing in the middle." He rearranged them again, this time at their maximal distance from the prop twig. "Either way, at most they'd be yay far apart," he concluded. If one only knew what to look for it would be easy to spot. Here he looked to Gabriel and Kaena alone for approval, though his eyes were already alight--there was a reason they kept him around.
