In Character

This was home now. Sicarus felt it in his bones, the calling from somewhere else in the territory—he had no idea where Haku was, exactly, but Sicarus could feel his presence nonetheless. The pale brown wolf had pledged his allegiance to this alpha, sensing the power within him, lurking and just waiting to come out. Were it not for Haku, Sic doubted he would have given this pack even so much as a secondary glance—the other scents emanating from within Dahlian territory were absolutely meaningless to the Italian wolf. He did not care for his other packmembers or even the pack itself; should Dahlia de Mai fall to pieces, it meant nothing to him. The only thing that mattered was following Haku, and performing the orders given to him.

Perhaps this was an unhealthy attitude for a packmember, but Sicarus knew nothing of packs and alphas. He hardly knew the words; they were almost totally foreign concepts ot him. Such was the problem with being reared in a monastery such as the one Sicarus had been raised in; he knew everything of religion, prayer, and their accompanying texts, but virtually nothing of his species' preferred habits. The monastery was a distant place in Sicarus's mind—they'd thrown him to the world at large, and for that and that alone, he was grateful. His training did not register on his mind as something they'd imparted to him; these were skills he had honed and practiced, and Jodcacus de Malis had done little else but awaken the beast within.

Sicaus had spent the last day and a half exploring his new hometown, learning everything he possibly could about the territory. He'd scouted for weaknesses, meandering among the winter-bared trees of Demon's Trail and Terra Lupin, keeping close to the border and looping closer. Sicarus was happy enough that this place had several human dwellings that he might choose as his own—it had not taken the tawny-furred wolf long to settle into one of the human basements, locked closed and tight by the last occupants of the house. Sic had taken no interest in the above-ground facilities of his newfound home; he took more pleasure in collecting various candles and getting bundles of apple tree branches together, carefully selecting dry ones to lash them together tightly, creating his very own little torches. He only required one or two; these he would burn at night when he felt it necessary to write or read.

There was already a musty couch, apparently dragged by some other Luperci—Sicarus had smelled his very old, faint scent. In some way, he was glad—that this place was already modified for him, already cleaned from whatever human debris had been left behind was far better than having to do all of the grunt work himself. The sandy-furred wolf had crashed down to the couch without much ado after removing his cloak, hanging it on an errant nail by the door. He had been asleep for many hours when the sound of a rousing howl drew him completely from his slumber, forcing his bright fire-orange eyes wide open. Sicarus was not the type to stretch and laze about in the morning; he was up like a shot and heading for the door without hesitation, already quite able to recognize his alpha's howl. Slinging his cloack over his back for the moment, he dawdled just an instant to take a piss, finding the sensation of a full bladder too insistent to wait until after whatever his alpha summoned them for and the idea of asking for even a momentary excuse away from the meeting too improper to consider.

Barring that, Sicarus did not stop on his way to the Alpha, throwing his cloak over him as he walked. The tawny-furred wolf arrived just after a charcoal-furred female whom he entirely ignored aside from noting her presence. She was a woman and unworthy of even his momentary attention; a shriveling sense of disgust rose in him as he thought of her gender as a whole. There was another strange canine present, as well, in the midst of shouting something incomprehensible to Sic. There was a strange language mixed in there, one he did not recognize. The wolf's face was virtually unreadable as he eyed this other newcomer up, but there was a distinct distaste for the other canine forming beneath the shroud of Sicarus's hood already. He did not like loudness; he did not appreciate it, and this seemed an entirely inappropriate venue for the tone the stranger had taken. Sicarus would show him, then.

As soon as he was within view of his Rosen, the de Ericeto wolf dropped to a knee, bowing his head and carefully averting his eyes. Ten seconds of this and he was up, moving closer to the Rosen, ceasing just outside of six feet of him, the respectable distance for a lowly thing such as himself. To come any closer was almost an insult to Haku according to Sicarus's traditions; only with his leader's express permission or in the case that his leader was in mortal danger was he allowed to break this "personal bubble" afforded to his leadership. The wolf did not smile or speak; he remained virtually motionless after seating himself on one of the stone benches, his tail curled around his hip and tucked next to his thigh, his muzzle raised only to the level of Haku's feet.
