Can we date this to yesterday? n_n The 15th. For Ever! Set on the beach~ 300+ words.

The sky was overcast, something Princess had hardly expected when she had woken that morning. Golden eyes stared out wistfully at the crashing waves, the water nearly as gray as the sky overhead. Gulls cried in the sky, though she could not see much of them. The low-hanging clouds obstructed her view of the myriad of birds, but she could hear them, a large number of them. Other than the gulls, Princess could not see any other form of wildlife, though she knew that the ocean was home to many creatures, big and small. She just had yet to see any of them, which was fine with her. Fish were weird, anyway, and kind of slimy. Some ate fish, but she did not. The texture was far too unpleasant for her, and she preferred red meat, even if she was not capable of handling the groteque image they took in death.

The slight wind ruffled the loosely fitted skirt of her white, silky halter dress, the material billowing out around lithe legs. The petite woman's arms were crossed across her chest, resting just below her bosom. Golden-brown curls whipped in the wind as well, following the pattern of the movement of her dress. Her thoughts were scattered, her mind all over the place. She was happy with her life, and she loved her mate. Though she still did not know most, she liked the pack, too. Her thoughts, though, were not what she wanted. She felt like she had too much time on her hands; she needed a job, something specific that she was needed to do. But more than the restlessness she was feeling... The young Chance woman was yearning for her brother. She would never see him again, she was sure, and he had only hurt her, but she couldn't deny that she missed him. It bothered her.

Of course! Wonderful setting for such a tragic day … 311

A cold, stiff and sunless haze had set over Miracles territory. Normally the young female wouldn’t have traveled in such weather, which filled her with angst, but hunger had driven her out. She huddled, her silver pelt trembling with the cold that whipped across the rocky shore. With her tail tucked neatly under her, the young wolf wandered back into the shelter of the forest. It seemed she had been wandering the entire time she was out but she did have a vague sense of direction. For awhile it felt as if she was coming down with an illness from sitting in the rain with Yuki & BIOS, but it was most likely the changes in weather.

The early morning rain had unfortunately washed away most of the useful scents Ever could have used to hunt, but after ambling for a bit more the faint trail of bleeding prey came through the opaque mist. Her jaw cracked open and she drank the aroma, trying to determine the direction it limped off two. Deciding the strongest fragrance came from the east, the silver furred female found herself once again on the shore. Her head hummed with the sound of the waves and she paused momentarily to close her eyes and release her pelt to the mercy of the wind.

It was cold, that was for sure as the icy shore sprayed mist the color of the clouds. The female wished for a brief second that the sun would pierce the sky and illuminate like old times, but the concentration on designing the perfect day was distracted by another scent. It was boldly Miracles muddled with the decent scent of female. Ever wasn’t afraid, but still she sidestepped closer to a rock housing the home for some sea moss. There she could smell the blood of the prey stronger than before.

Pfft, Princess is just moody. xD; 300+ words.

Princess did not think that Haven would very much like to hear that she was pining for her brother once again, and similarly, the young Chance woman hardly intended to tell him about how she was feeling. There would be no need to tell him what she was feeling. Ares had only hurt her the entire time that she had known Haven, and as far as she knew, Haven and Ares still would not get along to this day. Imagine what her brother would say if he found out she had become Haven's mate and moved packs to be with him. She did not think he would feel very nice, but his opinion did not matter. Princess loved Haven entirely.

Briefly, she wondered if she would ever see him again. He had left out of cowardice, afraid of their mother in a distant pack. His leaving had been unnecessary. The only times that Princess had seen Tokyo since the day she had left Dahlia de Mai had been the times she sought her out on her own. In fact, the only time had been immediately after she had found the note from Ares. Obviously, he had not needed to leave, since Princess had done a good enough job of avoiding Tokyo Chance. He could have, too, but he had not wanted to try.

Her attention shifted, the smallest sound causing her to turn abruptly. She had not expected to see anyone out here on such a dull and sad-looking day, and seeing the young silver wolf caught her off guard. Princess hugged herself tighter, embarrassed to have been found looking so forlorn. She was quiet, waiting for the young girl to speak, since she had been the one to come across Princess and not vice versa. If there was the intent of conversation, let the other girl start it.

The female who walked the beach seemed intently in thought, rummaging through her memories. Sea spray sparkled in the air in the background, glittering in the vague sunbeams the droplets could pass through. But even though the movement from the sea was distracting, the silver girl jumped as the other wolf turned abruptly to look in her direction. She hugged herself tighter in a form of discomfort and shot a golden eyed glance of expectancy. Ever twisted around the side of the rock and inspected the caramel pelted female. It was obvious she was in no mood to put up a fight. Careful and weary black paws padded away from the forest edge and on to the cool sanded beach. Muzzle turned upwards towards the sky, the young wolf announced a gentle Hello. The she-wolf had not predicted seeing another pack mate on this colorless day, but now that there was, the loneliness she had not known was there had lifted. Listening to the familiar chiming sound of her voice Ever waited patiently for the other brown female to reply.

She was not one to be a fast conversation starter, but it seemed apparent that neither was the other Cours member. They were far from the center of the territory and it seemed they both had the unfortunate pleasure of wandering. Perhaps there would be some things in common between the two. Admiring the other female again, Ever realized that they had more than just activity preference to compare. Realizing she must not be much older, their coat blending was similar though the girl was silver and the unnamed wolf was more of a brown. They could look related to the average passing canine. By now the sun was almost to the mid way point although a sad looking overcast had covered the light.

Eventually, the smaller, silver female broached the distance between them, both physically and by the single word reaching Princess' ears. The young Chance woman offered her a tentative smile. Just because she was not in the best of moods, dwelling on her brother's long-standing absence, did not mean she had to be rude to her pack mates. "I am Lady Princess Chance," she said, using her rank title as well as her full name. She liked the way that the words flowed together. It was fitting that she would be ranked as a Lady, and she did like that.

"Who are you?" she asked, deciding she might as well keep the conversation afloat while the girl and she were both there. There were still many pack members she had yet to meet, and this was one of them, though she seemed like she was a bit newer than most members. The next logical question would be to what asked the young girl what she was doing on the beach, but Princess was not feeling that talkative just yet.

Ever returned Princess’s smile lightly. There was nothing on her mind and the female was glad to find something to save her from forging her memories for something to think about. However, her clan mate seemed deeply disturbed. She flexed her paws in the sand and listened to the Lady present herself. The silver girl discussed silently in her head about how her name would go with her rank, as Princess had expressed amiably. But she discarded the unsmooth sounding combination and spoke simply in her original fluid voice I am Ever Mayawyn. It was not much to say in the empty space that was created for her to fill with her name. She wished she could have added more, but there wasn’t anything more to offer. Her eyes wandered delicately across her pack member, worried and confused but absent in her facial expression. Ears tilted back, the female blinked, unable to find the source of her distress. But she brushed it off, letting her blank expression lingering.

It was fine. <3

The Lady did not know what to say to the younger female now that the introductions were out of the way. Ever seemed to have as much to contribute as she did, and the silence that then stretched between the pair of females was mildly uncomfortable for Princess. She did not have much to talk about with most of her pack mates, and this moment was no different. What was she supposed to talk about with a complete stranger that seemed to have about as much to say as she did? Princess couldn't decide on anything.

"Soo," she said tentatively. "Are you new to the pack?" There was a time when Princess could say that she was new, but now she could not say that. Princess had been in the pack for a number of months, though she did not have much to say for that. She had a mate, and she was a relatively high-ranked member, but she did not have a co-rank and she did not have many friends. What else was there?

She was not the best converser. Even Princess could surely see that as a moment of silence was uncomfortably thrown upon the two girls. Only the familiar hum of the ocean waves against the shore could be heard as Ever shifted her paws, leaning onto the opposite hip. Finally, Princess spoke an easily respond able question.

Yes, I am.

The silver girl said lightly, pressing a smile across her maw. She had only spent little over a month in Cour des Miracles, but it was certainly better than traveling alone through the wilderness. Winter had always been on her and her mother’s mind when they were driven out, and now the female was immensely grateful she was able to find a pack before the time of the white blanket. By now it was easier to think of her past, but the hole in her heart ebbed with sadness, turning into cold pain. She didn’t know if there would be anyone ever able to heal her.

Princess blew out a very small sigh. This was a mildly awkward meeting, indeed, and she did not know how to remedy the situation. Obviously, Ever was as good at making small talk as she was at the moment, and that is to say, she was not very good at it at all. The Lady very briefly considered simply walking away from Ever with a quick word of good-bye, but the truth was, she did not feel particularly up for being alone right now. Her mood was melancholy at best, but she did not want to be alone entirely. Only a little bit.

"Sooo," she said again, trying something else out for a question. Perhaps this would draw a more dtailed answer from the younger girl, and maybe it could help to spawn an entire conversation. "Do you have family in the area?" Princess supposed the answer was a positive for her, though she was not sure. Ares was gone, and while she knew (or thought, perhaps they weren't anymore) that Tokyo and her son were in Dahlia de Mai still, Princess did not know if they counted, really. They probably didn't, she assumed.

The girl stifled an disinterested sigh. She didn’t want to be rude but by the dull sense in the Lad’s eyes she could tell the exchange wasn’t very interesting to her either. Attempting to make more of conversation, Princess asked about her family knowingly as if asking was a big favor.

No blood lines, but Vigilante and Ayita have taken me in kindly. I am very thankful.

Ever said, feeding a bit more to the conversation. Her mood was slightly lightened at the thought of her adopted family. They were already special to the young female and on her mind more than her birth family. Now, she couldn’t remember anything of what her father looked like though she distinctly remembered her brother having dark patches even in his fluffy pup pelt. The thoughts made Ever’s heart tremble but the sensation of having a family helped her to feel more convalescent.

Whatever works. ^^

It had never been easy for Princess to make friends or partake in much conversation with her packmates, regardless of which pack she lived in. It did not seem to be very different here, she had realized. While this might have led her to feel unhappy in the pack, Cour des Miracles had something no other pack had. Haven. So Princess was willing to make more of an effort to entertain herself here than she would perhaps have done in Crimson Dreams or Dahlia de Mai.

"Do they have theri own kids, as well? That was nice of them to take you in," she added. She did not know much about her dog leader, though he seemed respectable enough, if not too quiet and calm. Savina had been calm as well, but Princess had felt a pull towards the ebony woman. With the dog mix King, she felt nothing more than ambivilance. She liked him well enough, but Princess hardly knew him. The very same could be said for his mate, as well.
