It's too quiet!

The seasons had been changing quickly as the breeze moved gently through the trees making them whisper from time to time. Angel liked the seasons, but the ones she liked most was fall and spring. Right in between the most critical acting ones for sure - and they were especially comfortable anyway. Angel made her rounds like she should have been doing the last few months seeing that the borders activity, in her opinion anyway from what she saw, had been dropping as of late and she needed to help pick it back up. Just because she was healer did not mean that she couldn't do patrols.

In her middle form she swiftly made her way about the borders marking them and making sure they stood out strongly to let others know the land was taken fair and square. It was Phoenix Valleys lands and no one else. Silver dappled back and turquoise eyes stood out in the dark as she eyed her homeland with a passion. It was where she had been for years and where she would remain for years after. Even though others had came and went from time to time. It made her think about Ty.

Indeed she was alone. She missed Ty for he had been her companion. A friend of hers since long could she remember. Especially when she had her fox companion as well. There was never a time that Angel did not think about Ty, or love for that matter. She wanted more than a companion, but a love, a husband to help keep her from being so lonely. It hurt, but it never meant that she let it continue for long. She had her horses which were okay, but how long would that last?

howdy there! Big Grin I figured Angel could save a puppy in distress XD

Grace could sympathize with feelings of loneliness. While she could not really grasp the understanding of romanticism or love, per say, she definitely felt pangs of seclusion when Addison was not present - which happened to be more and more often as the child grew older. It had already been two weeks since the two D'Angelos came back seeking refuge within the barriers of Phoenix Valley and since then Grace had been on a few adventures herself, mostly with Addison, but a few without. It just felt as if late, the duo were spending more and more time without each other to Grace. Granted, more and more time apart meant about three to four hours out of the day without each other, but that still felt like an unreal amount of time.

Naturally, the day found Grace alone as Addison did some minimal hunting. She thought that she could follow behind Addison this time, waiting a few minutes before tailing her sister and being able to watch as she hunted and be with her sister. Unfortunately for Grace, her sister was gone before Grace even started - but nonetheless, Grace thought that she could track her down. Taking a left here at this tree, and then another right here at this rock, the copper puppy was sure that she could run across her older sister.

But a few turns turned into a lot of turns, and soon enough Grace felt the symptoms of being lost once again. The setting was beginning to blur within one another and look exactly the same. Anxiety began to mount upon her, quickening her step and allowing paranoia to creep into her little puppy brain. The small puppy started to feel smaller yet in this lost world. She stumbled over large roots in the ground, and she did the only thing she could do. Lifting her petite muzzle to the skies, she let out of mewling howl of distress for someone to find.

Yay! Finally some action!

Angel had been moving about for some time and had yet to find a meal to contribute to the pack. Jefferson possibly could have been more pleased had she been performing more duties within the pack and possibly that would be a discussion for her to have at some point in time. It had been some time since she had done anything 'important' within the pack. It was something that did not make her proud of course, but she had to do something. It was when she had heard a tiny little howling noise that caught her attention. It was the sound of a pup. A fairly young one at that. Angels ears twitched as she listened carefully. It was a sound of distress and panic. Hopefully nothing had happened. Shifting to her middle form, she abandoned all her tools and made her way to the location which was a far run, but in her middle form she was able to pick up the pace quite a bit. Black paws soon became twice the normal size and her shoulders moved up a couple inches on her back. The neck and head also thickened and lowered down to her ever growing chest and her back legs became thick like yearling pine trees. Teeth became elongated from the lips as she moved to stand on all fours and her body was tilted like a German Shepherd and her head near sat in the middle lining level with her back and her shoulders stood higher than her head. The silver dapples became ever more present from the back of her head down along her back to the base of her tail. Soon, she was off like a breeze with the speed of a Peregrine Falcon diving down atop of its prey.

The trees whipped by her like they were nothing and the enlarged cyan eyes she had were ever brighter as they witnessed what passed around her. Angel could still hear the howl in her ears as she approached and she had perhaps fifteen miles to run if that. She could feel her heart beating fast as she made her way through her valley home and into the open where the grasses bent like nothing as she ran through them. Birds flew to the skies and the feeding deer ran for their lives as her massive bulk passed them as if they were not even moving at all. This mattered not to her as she went to the sound of the pup. Once she entered the other side of the forest she got closer to where the howl was. As soon as she entered, she wondered where it had come from and needed to get a new bearing. Lifting her own head in a deep gutteral howl, she let out her own howl and called to the pup hoping that the young one would hear and not be frightened of her presence.

ohnoes! D:

Grace watched as her breath rose and fell in the air around her. Although summers in the Canadian terrain were unbearably hot - especially the summer Grace had been involved in - autumn was already its full course and the cold snap was directly on the poor puppy. So naturally her breaths, short and jagged as they were, became a visible matter and it served to chill the child far past the howl's zenith. She gave a shifty glance from the left and then to the right, as if her rescuer was to pop out of the forest's foliage once alarm was sounded. Like her own personal Batman or something.

Unfortunately, the foliage lent no hero to save her from the scary desolation that had pressed upon the puppy. Instead, she found herself more or less as alone as she had been before the pathetic howl. For some odd reason though, she stayed relatively calm, taking short breaths as she analyzed the situation and the best way to push past it. She was self-sufficient when necessary, but if there was an easy way out she would much prefer that way. However, there was no easy way out on this one, and Grace would just have to carve her own path home. Until, that was, she heard a reply of a howl.

Tail working feverishly behind her, Grace's whole body became alert and seeking of her new hero. The call sounded feminine in nature, and this fueled her to press out another cry of her own. A conversation of sorts, the howl was loud enough to triangulate the pup if her rescuer was close enough. Grinning and prancing, she giggled and couldn't contain her excitement of being found like a damsel in distress. She barked a few times, wiggling against the brush and darting here and there before everything went drastically wrong.

When zig zagging herself from place to place, a greater mana seemed to take a hold of her. Grace lost her footing along a gnarled tree root. Without any time to react, the girl tumbled down the side of the hill. The jagged cliff-side left out marring rocks for her to fall onto, bruising her sides and paws as she went. There wasn't even any time to howl out another plea of help, or even voice out anything as she was carried down by the fates of gravity. Before she even knew it, she splashed deep into a nearby creek's water, carried away by the strong autumn's current. "Help!" She managed to gurgle, "help mee!"
