It had been just under two weeks since Princess had come to the realization that she was, indeed, pregnant with the pumpkin Knight's children. The Lady Chance knew that Haven had gone to tell his mother and sister, as well as his three younger brothers, soon after she had told him, and it was likely that more members of the pack knew. However, Princess had not been telling anyone, having no one in her life to tell. She had briefly gone to tell the King, who had been happy for them, and she had been excited to find out that he was expecting his own children. It was likely they had been born by now, but Princess did not know for certain. It was exciting, at least, to think that her and Haven's puppies would have playmates in the pack so close to their age, now that Ruri and Heath had left with their small family.

Knowing that Heath and Ruri had left with Arnette and Forte had been so upsetting for the woman, and though normally it was not something she would have cried over, Princess was still tearing up over it any time she thought of it, as she did now. Perhaps it was simply the hormones raging through her body that made her cry so easily. Princess pushed those thoughts away from her mind now as she walked towards the stables. Haven was not at home, and though she did not need him for anything specific, she thought she might go visit him if he was there, and if not, perhaps she would find someone else to talk to. Surely her condition would draw attention to her. The thick, warm, knit dress that she wore, a soft lilac color, did not hide the noticable bump on her belly. It fit nicely, though, and Haven had certainly found her quite a few nice, warm dresses out in the city when she had realized she did not have anything warm enough.

Hello :]

The air was cold like most January mornings. Ever had hiked out to the stables again, following her imaginary trail of routine through the woods from her and her mate’s shack on the seaside. Since Heath had disappeared with Ruri and their young pups, the young girl was working harder than before on her duties with the horses. Not to mention the absence of a friend alongside her in the chilled barn.

Annan had long gone since the earliest of the morning. She much appreciated the golden woman’s help she was offering every now and then, but it was labeled as Ever’s job now and she intended to stick to the rules. Her nostrils flared against the smell of grain in the tub as it attacked the air around her after she clawed the lid off. Black fingers ran lovingly through the pellets of oats and sweet scented honey. Pulling a cup off the shelf Ever scooped a couple amounts into each of the buckets in the horses stalls accompanied by a few flakes of hay. The familiarity of the actions made the silver girl bored.

While rearranging some grooming combs on the shelf in the small room, movement caught her eyes outside the door. Saphraine made gentle stirring sounds from inside one the open stalls near the end, but loud enough for Ever to notice his chewing had stopped. She didn’t have to look to know his head was drawn towards the outdoors. Ocean hued eyes turned to find a delicate silhouette steadily making its way along the territory. After a moment of watching Ever realized they were coming towards the stables. She couldn’t tell who it was, but whoever could come as they please.

Ever went back to sorting brushes into buckets until her absence of work silenced her busy hands. She sighed, breath turning into fog twisting from her muzzle. The newest looking bucket was already in her hands as she headed for one of the last stalls.

He stood the calmest of all the horses in the stables. White mane shifted when he lifted his head to greet his companion, letting out a nicker much to warm to be placed into the cold air. Ever placed her hands on the side of his face and rubbed away the cold from his golden fur. Without a word, the stallion slipped out of the stall beside the wolf-girl and stopped near the center of the aisle. He allowed her to run a brush through his silk. And she continued to do so, her mind wandering to thoughts that only let her subconscious continue brushing.

The pregnant Lady moved slowly, and though it was a pace that she was not particularly familiar with, she did not dislike moving so slowly. Her belly was growing rapidly and her small frame seemed to be silly compared to the growing life inside her. It was to be expected that her stomach would grow gratly, she supposed. Though she was a very petite and delicate wolf, Haven was significantly larger than she was, and from what she could feel, there were a few in there. Certainly she could not know how many small lives were growing within her, but she knew that there were more than just one or two. Though she was nervous, she was very excited.

She did not know if Haven would be at the stables, because it was more likely that he would be out patrolling. It was something he did often, and it seemed that he was being extra protective of the pack's territory now that she was pregnant, and she would be crazy to deny that he had been pampering her and protecting her immensely. Princess very much enjoyed attentions and surprisingly did not feel suffocated by his attentions. Besides, she knew that he was only concerned for their future children. He would be a wonderful father, and she could only hope to live up to being the mother he hoped that she would be. She did not have much of a good example in her life, but at least she definitely knew what not to do. That counted for something, she was sure.

As the young woman reached the stables, one hand resting on the large bump that was her stomach, Princess heard movement within the stables. She looked in, and though it was not Haven (who did not seem to be in the area, unfortunately), the young woman was not disappointed by who she saw. Though their meeting had been a bit awkward and slow the last time they had talked, Princess thought Ever had been nice enough. "Good morning, Ever," she said brightly.

Long strokes of the brush removed the little bit of dust that had settled on Saphraine’s golden coat. She could hear him breathing. Steadily, an in and out rhythm that brought the girl slowly back into consciousness. Her black hands fingered the rough surface of the comb she held before trading it for a softer one. It lingered in all of the curves of the stallion’s muscles and left a gleaming stream behind it.

It was hard to focus on the more delicate things like how Saphraine’s white locks had flecks of pale grass intertwined and how his dark chocolate eye’s barely flickered from his enjoyment. She pushed away all of her other blurry, confused thoughts and strained to look at the details. But Ever was still shallowly focused when the woman walked in.

Both Ever and the stallion had heard Princess approaching when she was nearly to the large, stable door. Her gait was slow, unpracticed, and drawn on into long strides. She appeared inside the natural lit barn with an expected look on her face at first, which slowly faded into a pleased expression. Even out of the corner of her eye, Ever recognized the petite woman before she spoke.

Good morning, Princess!

She was still seeing all the details. The worried lines that freckled her slim face, the protective stiffness in the hand that rested lightly on her stomach, but mostly, the bright sparkle in her golden eyes that reflected in her voice.

Congratulations on your successful pregnancy,

Ever said with warmth. She could see that too. The very slight, at least 2 week, bump that protruded openly in her purple sweater.

If you are looking for Haven, I am afraid he has not come recently.

It was true. The Knight used to come often but not recently. Ever wondered if it was because of the absence of Heath. But she couldn’t think long. Back to brushing as a breeze of thoughts brought on by Princess’s pregnancy made the stalls sway. She hid her sudden vertigo by looking at the other end of the stable until the ground settled under her again. The girl really did want to hear all about anything the caramel woman wanted to say. An avid listener, she was, even if she struggled underneath.
