Alrighty, so...Faryn's going through heroine withdrawal, I'm sure we can all guess how much fun that's going to be. So, yeah, Alder gets first reply and then...well, Alaine come in after that I guess ^_^ Set at the Chien Hotel, late afternoon...backdated to the 15th

This was it...she was going to die. That was the only explanation for this pain. She'd just joined the Miracle's pack yesterday and she wasn't even going to get the chance to enjoy her new found home. At least, that was what the fragile girl feared as she sat there, hunched in the corner of her newly claimed room on the first floor of the Chien Hotel. She'd run out of her drug last night, and she had started to feel funny this morning with the discomfort gradually worsening until now where her stomach wanted to turn itself inside out, her whole body ached as though her bones were trying to grind themselves to pieces. Her head throbbed, and to top it all off she just couldn't get warm, despite the blanket she had wrapped around her slight form. She'd already resorted to crying, bemoaning her rotten luck. Why had all of this happened to her? She hadn't even lived a full year yet, and she had already suffered so much. Sapphire eyes poored forth pained tears as she did all she could to keep from puking, not that there was anything in her stomach to expel, she hadn't had the stomach to eat anything that day.

The room was fairly dark, the door was cracked open, having been warped by time to the point that it could not close properly. Her feathery furred arms were folded in front of her, her hands keeping the blanket tightly wrapped around her slender body, hoping that by some magic spell it would warm her abnormally cold body. With each chilled shiver, her muscles ached and she sobbed from the growing pain. "H-help me...please," her words were soft, desperate in tone. She doubted anyone was in the building, and even if they were she doubted that they would hear her. What a horrid way to go, for a young girl, all because her cruel, rapist, former master had addicted her to a drug that she was destined to run out of. She had hated every time she had been forced to inject the substance into her body, but she now hated this pain even more. Even now, each pained sob carried with it a prayer to the higher powers for some form of help, if not a quick death. She didn't want to suffer anymore.

The boy had become a but of a wanderer of sorts, and a jack of all trades. Though most of his time was spent in the stables, working away and getting used to his new low-speech tongue, Alder had also become a pupsitter to his nephew and nieces, a hunter for that household, and fairly good with a hammer. Though he hadn't met many friends in the new pack, he had been busy and acquired more skills then he ever thought he could. Friends would come later, he figured, once he had established his place in the pack and he had found his true job. Though they all had ranks, there were also positions for them, true job with tasks and responsibilities. Haven was a Knight, and Alder wanted to have the same sort of title. Of course he was far from a warrior, and he needed to find his niche. So he dabbled. Such was what brought him to the Hotel.

The boy had noticed that there were many rooms in the large building, and he imaged that there was furniture in those rooms. He wished for a bench, but one with a drawer and so he set out for the materials for his project. The tall male wandered towards and through the large door, then he wandered down the hallway in the hopes of finding an empty room. He didn't want to take anything that might belong to another pack member, but he crept in silence like he that thief he assured himself he wasn't.

But a cry stopped him from venturing up the stairs. Masked eyes looked to the door where he was sure the cry had come from, blue orbs large with worry, concern and mostly fear. He hesitated, inching towards the door slowly. There was a familiar scent, and it made him push the door open slightly. Just enough to see the huddled mass in the darkness. Faryn? Alder asked, nerves coursing through his body and making him as still as stone. Faryn, do you need help? What can I do? he knew she did, knew that this was going to happen to her, and there was nothing he had done to prevent it.

A moment passed, and the honey colored girl simply knew her plea for help would go unanswered. She was sure of it. The fates had so willed it that she would suffer and die in a heap only to be found by her new pack mates before she had the chance to meet them. Throbbing pains in her head did not help her already distraught mind and she continued to cry, crumpled against the wall of her room. Just before all hope was lost in her mind, the one thing she needed to hear most reached her flattened ears. Who was this that knew her name? Who would possibly offer help to a pathetic creature like her? Pained tears continued flowing from her sapphire eyes as they rose to see who but the young male who she had run from timidly after their conversation at the borders. Alder had heard her and was now in her room asking for what she needed him to do. Had she not already been crying in pain, she would have surely cried tears of joy. Her hopeless situation had just been illuminated by a ray of light. "I-I...need a h-healer, Alder," she cried, her teeth chattering from the chills that shook her drug starved body. Her system was detoxifying, but the process was throwing much of her fragile form completely out of whack. "I...It h-hurts....a-a lot," she sobbed, hoping that he would just be able to take the pain away somehow, that he would have some magic means of easing her suffering.

Despite her crying and obvious pain, the Tahra girl was inwardly hopeful. Someone had heard her and was compassionate enough to come to her aid. Maybe she wasn't as worthless as she had been made to think. Maybe she would live, even if it didn't feel like it at the moment. Only time would tell, but for now the blonde girl would depend on the young, masked male in front of her to help.

Alaine now? I'll let you decide :3

He did not understand why anyone would want to hurt the golden female. After meeting her the boy’s mind had been filled with turmoil and fear. There were beast’s out there that had been so hateful that they had wished to poison her, tie her to a substance that would certainly kill her. It scared him, worried him and made him think that they could come to Cours, to Crimson Dreams and hurt the ones he loved. He had gone home and watched over Haven’s puppies that night, almost waiting for those scary creatures to come and hurt them all. After a few days the anxiety had subsided, but now it returned as he watched the withdrawal the dog-wolf was going through.

As she spoke Alder neared, still fearing to touch her, and listened to her pleas. He might hurt her more if he touched her too hard, large hands and his clumsy ways worrying him. He nodded his head quickly, Okay He spoke just as fast as he knelt beside her. Blue eyes watched her face, it was obvious that she was in pain and he feared that she would be dying at any second. I’ll go get someone.

He had heard, after meeting Faryn, that there was indeed a healer here. He didn’t know if she was near but stood quickly and went to the door again. Help. he spoke, quietly first for his shyness was still so overpowering. Help! He spoke louder, We need a healer. He called now, voice deep and booming through the hallway. He had no idea where they might be, and called out for anyone that might be near, paws running towards the stairwell. Help, she’s going to die! The boy felt tears stinging his eyes. He didn’t want her to hurt, and didn’t want her to die.

Yes, Alaine can come in now ^_^. And yay for short posts due to exhausted brain-ness

The honey colored girl's crumpled form quivered and shook as the chills continued to course through her. Fragile hands pulled the tattered blanket tighter around her as she watched Alder. He seemed almost as scared for her as she was for herself. However, despite his nervousness, he agreed to get help and turned to leave the room, his voice booming down the hall. Ears pinned to her head as another wave of aching, throbbing pain coursed through her body. Her stomach continued to twist itself into knots as her body continued to painfully purge itself of its dependence on the toxin.

Despite the pain and potential threat to her life that this withdrawal was, it also represented a sort of turning point in Faryn's life. If fate had it planned that she would survive this night, her life would be able to start properly in Cour des Miracles. She would not have to worry about a dependence on a drug, or the shame it brought to her. Her emotional scars would need time to heal, but in a stable home the healing could begin and she could grow into a proper, happy young woman. She had to make it through tonight first, though, and that was all dependent on Alder' success of reaching the pack's healer. Hopefully the timid young male would succeed.

Word Count → 3+ :: derrrp, alaine is here! c:

She had been upstairs with her children, sleeping fitfully. It was not often the Chien Hotel had visitors anymore, but the sound of the old gate screeching open to allow someone entrace was what roused her. The old hotel was made of thick slabs of dense, rotting wood - No small sounds from down below could be heard up in her chamber. For a long while, the woman simply lay with her two sleeping puppies in the nest of rags she had built for them on the floor.

A faint call reached her floppy ears. It came again, louder now, definitely masculine. She rose and went to the doorway, curious but not alarmed, until the final sentence rang up towards the second floor. "Help, she’s going to die!" Instantly roused from whatever remnants of sleep had been lazily dragging at her, the woman scrambled for her healer's satchel and dashed down the stairs, taking them two at a time.

She burst into the room, almost running into the young man who had moved towards the stairwell. Emerald eyes were cold and professional, and she gave him a quick once over - Not injured. He was not the one who required her help. Gaze moved past the male, alighting on the figure huddled deeper in the room. She was bundled in blankets, but the skilled Apothecary new instantly from the expression of horrified pain that she was the one in trouble. Crossing immediately to the girl, the healer dumped her satchel on the ground and kneeled before her, professional hands reaching to pull back the blankets so she could get a good look. "Calm down, sweetie. I'm here to help you. You're going to be alright," She cooed softly. Without glancing over to the male, she rose her voice and tilted her head to show that she was speaking to him. "Do you know what happened to her?"

alder is useless lol

The tall youth was beginning to believe that no one would hear his cries. He thought about racing from the building, calling for the pack's King and rousing the pack as a whole so that they could search for the healer. But he was far too timid, and even in this desperate time the male clammed up and was unable to move with speed or great determination. He was fairly helpless, hoping beyond hope that someone would hear him. Blue eyes looked up the stairs, then around the corner and then when he turned his head the figure of a blurred creature moved past him.

His heart beat quickly, pounding hard in his chest and filling his ears with the rhythm. He watched, still standing no closer then the doorway. She was a slight figure, the color and shape of a dog rather then a wolf. She questioned, voice ringing in his ears and Alder couldn't remember what had happened. He stepped closer, his voice caught in his throat despite his effort to expel it. She, he stammered, stuck on the next one as the confusion, speed and stress of the situation consumed his meek and fragile mind. But Alder thought back, replayed their first meeting in his head and finally got the details out she was forced to take a drug, and now... Alder paused, looking at Faryn face for a brief moment. she doesn't have any left.

Sorry for the delay, and for this crummy post. I have no good excuse other than life's been busy. ^_^

Sapphire eyes continued to stream tears of pain even as the hope that someone would hear Alder's call lingered in her mind. When a woman dashed into the room and kneeled in front of her, dumping out a satchel of unknown items, the honey colored girl barely had time to notice before another wave of pain swept over her, and her stomach felt like it was finally going to win against her will and send its contents up and out. She managed to hold it down, however, as her ears detected the woman's words of encouragement. "Th-thank you," she sobbed, a relieved smile curling the edges of her lips for a brief moment as she tried to calm herself as she had been instructed. This woman had to be the healer. Her tone, her actions, her entire demeanor seemed to convey confidence in what she was doing, and this confidence was slowly radiating into the Tahra girl. The aching, shivering, and other pains were still there, but now she had more help. Maybe she wasn't going to die.

The healer asked Alder what had happened to her, and the feathery-furred girl couldn't help but feel slightly sorry for him. He had only met her once before, and her story had probably been confusing to him. If he even remembered part of it she would have been impressed. So when he answered the woman with exactly the right answer her spirits lifted again. The pain that racked her fragile form prevented her from expressing her gratitude, but she would have to thank him when this was all over.

It was the girl who spoke first, a hopeless sob of gratitude that pulled deep sympathy from within the healer. She could see it in the other's eyes, such an intense pain - Whatever was wrong with her, it was slowly eating her from the inside out. When finally the young man spoke, his words were short and unsure; It seemed the girl was beyond being sensible enough to elaborate, though, and Alaine's mouth became a grim line as she considered this new information.

Drug dependency... Drug dependency. Rocking back on her heels, the Apothecary made a soft sound of repulsion mingled with pity. Whoever had forced the girl's addiction had done so very specifically, with an obvious attempt to maximize pain if she ever tried to break the addiction. Alaine was a herbalist specialist, and even as her mind raced through antitoxins and remedies, she was aware that for proper relief it was crucial to know the type of the drug.

If the girl was unable to tell her, then the pain she was going through would be dragged out. But now that the collie-woman knew what was ailing her, measurements could be made to ensure that she lived till morning. "Well, she is not going to die," The woman said in a brisk, firm tone of voice. Ivory hands moved to cup the girl's face, if she would allow it, so that she could examine the size of her pupils and the color of her gums. "Not if I have anything to say about it. But she is going to be in for a struggle, aren't you, honey," Towards the end of the sentence, her voice became a soothing coo once more, a gentle smile curving about pixie maw to match it. Emerald eyes returned briefly to the male in the corner, as she thought about what to do next.

"I want to give her a mild sedative... It should take the edge off of her pain, but it might have some nasty side effects-" She smiled, almost apologetically. The broth she had would most likely result in vomiting, but that was a natural result of the body's cleansing mechanism, and it was undoubtedly worth dulling the female's agony. "I'll administer it now... Do you think you could find a bucket of some sort? Oh, and her name - What is her name?" Alaine didn't know how much longer the girl would have all her senses; Withdrawal patients with such an intense reaction were prone to bouts of hysteria, and she wanted to be able to have some connection to the girl that might reassure her. Having rummaged through her satchel, the Apothecary produced an olive-green bottle of murky liquid. With an air of calmness, she offered it to the huddled lady. "Would you drink this, for me? It might make your stomach feel a little sick, and it surely wont taste very nice... But it should take away some of the pain."

The boy could hardly hear the apothecary's words, his heart racing so fast that there was little else he was able to focus on. He breathed through his nose, trying to ease his nerves so that perhaps he could be of some help. Blue eyes looked from one doggish hybrid to the other, waiting to the moment Faryn would stop breathing. No, he remembered. The healer said she wouldn't, the memory coming to him. He had been listening. Alder didn't understand what this fight meant, what the drugs did to her body to make her react like this. He only nodded when she told him her plan, and when the questions came to him, Alder stood frozen for a moment. Foot-paws shuffled back to the door, arms stiff and eyes wide. He paused, and spoke her name without looking back. "Faryn." That was all he really knew about her, that and a single tragic story.

Large dark toned hands rummaged through the small room. It was nothing but a nook in the hallway, though its contents were promising. A broom stick leaned towards him, fabric strings caught on his claws, and then he finally found a bright white bucket with a metal handle. Racing back to the room Alder set it by the pair. He didn't want to look, didn't want to look and kept his eyes on the floor and kept quiet.
