With her right hand on the hilt of the knife that slapped against that hip, Hanna made her way to the borders of Shadowed Sun. She wasn't sure who was in power there, or if they would appreciate company, but she had heard through the grapevine that there was a library, and that was something that interested the dark femme. So she'd set out early in the morning in a hunter's lope, carrying her clothing in her medical satchel and with her belt around her waist. She stopped before exiting The Dampwoods and pulled on her trousers, forgoing the panties -- these she stashed in a tree so they weren't in her bag were it checked -- and shrugged the peasant top over her head. She tied the bow at her sternum so it hung just right, then she let out a call for whoever might be close.

While she waited, Hanna took in the surrounding scenery. It was a beautiful place, well suited to supporting a pack.

I apologize for the wait! Thanks for hanging in there. :][html]

He had just returned some of the books he had borrowed from the library, and was bringing back a new handful to his den. He had been reading about other languages, though he hadn’t tackled them as hard as he had with his reading and writing. He was just generally curious about things, and wanted to start reading up on whatever the library had within its dirt covered walls. He gently set the skin wrapped books on the dirt floor of his den, and ducked his head back out into the sun light. It was a nice day today, which was appreciated. Rain made Pilot feel particularly gloomy.

He headed off towards the borders as a call went out into the air. He didn’t bother shifting to two legs, considering he had been spending increasingly more time on two. When he did finally reach the scent marked barrier, he spotted a familiar face. It was Hanna – the girl that had tattooed Storm’s lightening bolt symbol onto his wrist. He smiled to himself as he slowly made his way down the slopping hill towards her. "Hey there!" He called out, raising a hand into the air as he drew closer.

But I apologize even more... x.x I've been busy... and WoW sucked me into its grasp! And after work... brain=dead.

Before long, Hanna saw the semi-familiar face of Pilot, for whom she'd done a tattoo on his wrist of the old Storm symbol. She waved a hand in return for his, and replied to him, walking forward a few paces. Hello, Pilot! Wow, another person I hadn't seen since the fire. I'm glad you made it. She had reached him by this time and she gently nudged his side with her elbow. You're my only example to show off my work. Only kidding!

She'd drawn up at that point, standing near the male, and she looked up and at his face. She didn't look into his eyes--even though they knew each other that still could be dangerous. She grinned at him, letting him take the initiative for conversation.

"It’s good to see you again," he replied with a smile. Her mention of the fire almost came as a surprise, since it now seemed as if the fire had occurred so long ago. That night Pilot had lost so much, but had also gained the two sons whom he loved dearly. What a great way to spend the night of his birthday – in the predawn of the fire. Shadowed Sun seemed to be established rather well in those few months that had followed April. It was only June. Soon it would be July. And then before he knew it, fall would be upon them.

"Have you found a place to settle into?" He asked her, curious to see if she had joined one of the other packs. He had a feeling she would be a member of Dahlia de Mai, as he hadn’t ever seen her on his treks to Twilight Vale, but there was no way of knowing for sure. Before now, he had seen or heard any mention of her. At least, not that he could remember.

The male smiled at her and asked her if she'd found a place to stay. Indeed, she had, with her sister, though the female was so distant. It almost reminded Hanna of when she'd first been trying to persuade Colibri that they were littermates. It was true; however, the white femme had long disowned their mother for having abandoned her at birth for her white pelt. She studied Pilot's similar coat, then looked down at her own night-kissed coat. It was interesting, nigh on amazing, how Mother Nature made everyone different.

Yes, I've settled down with Dahlia de Mai. I found my sister shortly after coming across the mountains along with another white female named Cercelee and a black and white male named Slay. Shortly afterwards, my niece Mew showed up. She was pregnant. Was. Past tense. The female had survived, but her four pups had not. She glanced up at Pilot again. And that's what brings me here. I've heard tell that Shadowed Sun has access to a supernumerary of books. I'd like to have access to them to learn more herbalism from them. If you don't mind, of course.

A thin smile stretched across his lips, glad to hear that she had found a place to settle down. All of the wolves and coyotes of the old ‘Souls lands had been thrown into a mixture of chaos after being dumped over the side of the mountain. It had taken some time, but it seemed that for the most part, things had started to resume as normal. "I’m glad to hear that," he told her, thinking of the starch white leader of Dahlia De Mai that Pilot had had the pleasure of meeting as well.

"Oh of course, Shadowed Sun has a library hidden in a hollowed out den under the roots of a huge tree. All the books and things are wrapped up in animal skins and set up along dirt shelves. Feel free to have a look around and borrow any of the books that you wish. Shadowed Sun always keeps its borders open to anyone interested in learning." After all, learning was what they had founded their entire pack on.

Pilot's smile infected her, and Hanna smiled widely at him. He seemed genuinely happy to hear that she'd found a suitable pack. She answered him with a nod and an expansive gesture. Looks to me like, while it's not Storm, you've stayed pretty well-to-do even after the move. The dark femme swiveled her head and her ears, taking in the sights. It's beautiful here, Pilot.

Being given permission, she skipped ahead a few paces, excited to explore a bit too, if she could get away with it. She soon realized that she didn't have the first clue where the tree library was, and came back to the male's side. Heh, would you mind escorting me?

I'm gonna make her find Tobias in the next post, to boost muse and to start the Low Speech training, if you don't mind.

Sounds good.[html]

He smiled. He supposed she was right. Shadowed Sun was by no means Storm, but he enjoyed living here none the less. It was another chapter in his life. Maybe a tad bit lonelier, but refreshing at least. He watched her as she took a few paces ahead of him, looking around at the scenery now that she had been given permission. He smiled at her comment, nodded. "It is, isn’t it?" He looked around too. Even though he lived here, he sometimes forgot about its beauty.

"Of course I will. It’s this way," he told her, pointing in the direction and turning to walk there. "It’s actually not that far, which is convenient." He smiled, hoping she would find some things she liked in their library.

Not done, but passing out at computer x.x

As Pilot turned to go, Hanna's ears swiveled, followed by her night-kissed head. She'd heard... something. A distress call of some kind, but she wasn't sure what. She called out softly, "Pilot, did you hear that?" Her footsteps seemed strangely loud in the almost silence, then she heard the call again and altered her step. Not far from where they'd been standing, on the ground, his left wing held out to one side, was a beautiful adolescent red-tailed hawk. Hanna gasped and, medic mode kicking in, dove to examine the wing. With a fierce look in his eye, the hawk snapped at her fingers. She glanced back at the male, unsure what to do now.

Looking back at the russet bird, Hanna inquired, "Pilot, do you have a clue what should happen next? We can't very well leave him to fend for himself; he can't even fly from danger. I could help him, but..." She trailed off, and slowly lowered her hand toward the bird's head again. Again, he snapped at her fingers, and this time almost caught one. They were caught in a stalemate of sorts.

Yay, low speech![html]

Pilot bent down, resting both hands on his knees as he tried to study the bird’s wing better. He would definitely need their skill if he had any hopes of recovering. It looked rather painful too, and it was obviously clear that flying wasn’t reasonable. He nodded at Hanna, raising the language the remained dormant in the back of his mind.

"Don’t worry, friend. We’re here to help." He gestured with one hand towards his friend, then back towards himself. "This here is Hanna and I am Pilot." He rose to his full height then, reassuring the dark colored Dahlia de Mai member. "He shouldn’t bite you now," he told her. The bird had offered a loud call as a response to Pilot’s words, asking for help. "She’ll take a look at your wing for you," he told the hawk.

So basically Hanna helps out the hawk, which prompts her to want to learn to speak low speech. And so the lessons begin and Pilot teaches her the basics.
