Little Red

There were stories about big bad wolves eating little girls in human books. They had lived on the human tongue and lived in the dark corners of human children’s imagination. They were stereotyped down to a classic bad guy, though with a taste for the flesh of the innocent. Haku was such a beast, though his cruelty dug deeper than such silly stories. There were no woodsmen in this world, and so he rampaged freely – causing pain and hatred to form within those he encountered. The little deer was not what had held his gaze for the last minute or so. Her scent was recognized with ease.

Perhaps that was what had singled her out amongst many. Or perhaps it was the red cape demanding action from the creature. Perhaps this world needed its fairytales. Jagged fangs glinted dully as the predator watched the woman freeze and watch the deer bounding through the brush with ease. Haku was not at all troubled by the game’s disappearance, because he had already a taste for canine flesh. It was a symbolic thing, to feast on the flesh of his fellow wolves. He took their blood, their body and their souls and grew stronger for every kill! He could feel it. It was a craving more than anything these days and Haku was not one to let moral keep him from what he desired.

She was a rather dazzling woman, he noted as she tipped the hood away from her light face. It better revealed her impurity. This woman did not deserve life. She was a dog, a lowly servant created by and for humans. The human’s days had ended, and hers should have ended along with theirs. Caked blood and dirt seemed to be a part of his once so glorious chocolate and cream fur. The area around his muzzle hinted of fresher bloodshed than the remaining pieces of old, brown blood mainly located on his chest and back. There was no need to tip toe around to hide his truer face any longer.

The four legged beast took his time as he slowly cut through the stiff undergrowth where he had watched her the last few minutes. Her brilliant eyes would meet with his soon enough. There was no hostility present on the man’s features except for his general appearance. That could be well enough. Scars stretched across a face that had once held such masculine beauty. There was no doubt that it was a savage beast approaching her slowly on black clawed paws.
