Where do you go when there is no place left?

So sorry for the delay! You will have to forgive me for I am gone lately from 7 to 4 and from 7 to 8 or later tomorrow. I will try to reply as soon as I can and try to make a little more sense. ^_^

Ever opened her mouth and laughed quietly. She never thought of herself as an attractive wolf, especially now when she was covered in mud and sand, drenched to the skin and smelling of the salt of the sea. The female lowered her head to cover her face before she spoke but the male offered to show them the cave without further delay. She nodded as the rain kicked in a notch and the wolves galloped towards the small cave carved in the rock wall. Her tail swished happily as she followed her new friends into the shelter. It was surprisingly warm but slightly damp as the wind whistled by the entrance quickly.

Immediately as soon as Ever had found a considerably dry spot near the back of the cramped cave she set to grooming her pelt. Her tongue became stiff with sand by the fifth, or was it the sixth, stroke. As she continued, the female finally noticed the exotic bird on the other female’s head. She stopped mid stroke and watched as the bird hopped off and clucked around. Ever lifted her head as the new wolves introduced themselves as Yuki and BIOS while brushing off the mistake about her name. Ever was not ashamed. She nodded and looked both of them over shyly. Each of them only had a few months different in age then her. BIO was so young but spoke so … was it wise? She wasn’t sure.

While the friends chatted, Ever stared outside and up at the dark clouds while the dark rock around her dripped with rain. While the grey clouds lumbered across the sky, a thought hit her. Looking back at the colorful bird she measured with her eyes how long he might be in the sky. Ever licked her muzzle. Yes, he was the bird she had seen flying so bravely through the stormy sky. He was the bright sun she missed and had ignited the courage in her heart she needed to catch up to BIOS and Yuki. Now he stood, fanning his multitude of feathers, dripping with water, so close to Yuki the wolf. The female smiled. Her smile stayed gently on her face while the other female nipped at the pup’s face. They seemed to have known each other forever but Ever felt the space between them. She remembered that space, long ago with her brother and her father.

Finding herself staring blankly at the cave floor she lifted her head up. It occurred to her that she hadn’t said anything. She felt slightly shy and the storm filled her with the angst she hated. Ever licked noisily at her pelt to fill the emptiness that echoed silently across the walls. She watched as a beetle scuffed unevenly across the ground. Her brow furrowed with disgust and she flopped a paw on the black insect. The silver furred wolf could feel it cold body wriggling against her paw pads.
