With Haven, she had been given a life that she had never had. She had been stifled when she was young, doted on by the mother who so equally neglected her son. Princess had always lived her life for everyone else, but she had done something for herself alone in coming to live with Haven and becoming his mate. Some could argue that she had made the choice to move there for the pumpkin Knight, but this was untrue; while it was of course for him as well, she was the most important deciding factor in the move. He made her feel loved and free in ways she had never experienced in life, and she knew that she would continue to blossom in their life together. She loved him more than she had ever imagined herself loving a man.

The Lady Chance knew not if her meager family would have imagined her becoming a good mother, the young woman lacking the reassurances that Haven had. Her mother would only mock her and insult her, just as she had about Haven himself. Tokyo would draw out all those insecurities and feed off of them, drowning her daughter in taunting words. Princess felt a small frown cross her delicate features, only solidified by the idea that her brother would hardly be supportive, either. She doubted he would approve of her mateship, either, as he had disapproved of Haven from the very start, not giving him a fair chance to prove himself. But truthfully, Princess wondered, would their opinions actually matter? How could she possibly accept their opinions of her becoming a mother if she knew that they did not care about her? The young woman doubted she'd care.

Lifting her face when it was guided by her lover's tender fingers, Princess allowed the tendrils of a smile to reach her now, pushing away the worried frown. Haven sounded so certain of everything that he said that Princess could not help but begin to believe his words. "You could never be like your father, never. I'm just... Afraid to become like her," she admitted. She knew that she shared traits with her mother, and not considerably good ones. Princess was mildly vain and selfish and she liked to get her own way. As much as she was loathe to admit it, these were traits shared with the older Chance woman.
