Something flickered in the boy’s eyes and made a quiet voice whisper to the Aquila. He took notice of it. He had trusted his intuition and it had never lied to him before. It was not an obvious change, but something that reminded him of his fallen brothers. Conor’s eyes reminded him of Andre’s, of Samael’s—and he did not trust that look. Perhaps he was right in believing that Conor was still his father’s son. Time would tell.
“Proof,” he said flatly. Though he did not need it, Gabriel intended to ensure that the world knew of the fall of the beast. The second reason—the same reason that he wore his father’s necklace—was unspoken. Like it or not, Haku was the boy’s father.
