Trapped in my Own Despair.

His pace quickened as the reassuring sound of a howl reached his ears. As he bounded through the snow he couldn't help but wonder why someone would be out here in the open. Certainly Kami had his suspisions, but the truth seemed to be much worse then anything he had come up with. The contents of his stomach churned as he closed the distance between himself and what he had thought to be single wolf. No, he was close enough now to see that the stranger was dragging something, or someone. Kami's lip curled slightly as a snarl escaped his muzzle, the sight of the golden fur mostly covered by a blanket was enough for him to recongize Ookami. Yellow eyes bored into the lifeless body as Kami came to a stop next to the pair, barely acknowledging the odd colored wolf that had been struggling to drag his packmate. Kami's distrusting nature led him to jump to conclusions about the scenario that may have played out between the two wolves leading up to this. As he leaned down and saw the slight rise and fall of the blanket that was covering his friend his mind was put to rest. Ookami was still alive.

With this realization Kamis next course of action was clear. Quickly he looked back up and met the eyes of Ookamis guardian angel. She was definitely not someone that Kami had come across in his travels around the pack lands. Yet there was no mistaken the Valleys scent was on her, even if it was faint. As was the case with many of the wolves he'd encountered she carried the scars of the past on her face, but there was more to it then that. As he studied her he could tell, as strong as she must have been to drag a wolf of Ookamis size even a short distance she wasn't without injury. " We need to get out of this storm." he spoke to her bluntly, staring into the mismatched eyes. There would be time for small talk later, but right now getting Ookami warm and dry was his top priority. " I passed a human den not far from here." his gaze shifting back in the direction from which he had came. His eyes could not see the small wooden cabin, but he knew it was out there and that it might be their best shot for escaping this blizzard.

He did not wait for an answer from the wolfess as he closed his eyes. Focusing on the form that he knew would be the most help in this situation, despite his dislike for shifting. As the form became clear in his mind he could feel the changes start to wash over him. They started slowly at first with his muscles bulging and rippling as he began to grow. The midnight black fur along his back growing thicker and more coarse. Claws and fangs lengthening to match his new proportions as the changes began to come faster. As he grew to his final height and opened his eyes once again to look down upon Ookamis still motionless body as Kami he began to pant. Shifting was never something he did very often and it did take a toll on his energy, but the benefits of added strength could not be denied. While the idea of shifting all the way Optime form had crossed his mind, but he was inexperienced with that particular shift. There was no telling how long it could take, combined with the uncertainty that he would even be able to carry the large golden wolf through the snow without dropping him and causing more injury. The situation was certainly not perfect, but now fully in his Secui form he looked back to the stranger before speaking. " I can carry him from here." his eyes lingering on her as he waited for a response. He didn't know anything about this women, but he had a feeling that she was a fighter. She had carried his friend this far and he felt he owed her enough to hear what she had to say, keeping in mind that every minute Ookami's body temperature was probably falling.
