OOC- this is at Eagle Tower!
-wordcount-982- (and I did it all on my ipod, you can imagine how long it took me!(:

Ookami was under his maple tree when the storm started. He knew something was coming but never imagined it could be this bad. He had seen the dark sky that threatend snow and he had seen the green tint to the clouds. But he underestimated it. The snow fell in tons around him, he could barely see three feet in front of him. Then the wind picked up, the maple tree where he resided creeped and swayed, Ookami knew he had to get out of there. He bolted forward into the snow and wind. He squinted his eyes, trying to see in front of him. His thick and shaggy coat was no match for the cold and it blew wildly around in the wind. He had no clue where he was going so he just ran as fast as he could, waiting to see if he would find any tall structures that would provide good shelter.

He traveled for what seemed like forever, just running forward. At least he thought he was rung forward, he probably changed direction quite a bit in the last half an hour. Finally a large tower came into view, Ookami had never been here before but from what he could see it would make a good shelter. He would never imagine what was going to happen though... Ookami walked up to the tower, he had to pick his feet up high, trying to trek through the snow. He made it up the hill finally, after slipping down numerous tines. He was exhausted and he collapsed at the top of the hill. He lay there as the snow started covering his body. His senses were dragged away and he was slowly being buried in the snow. He finally realized what was happening when the cold snow had covered him up to his neck. His eyes widened and he wiggled around, the snow wouldn't give in though. He tried to stand but the snow was pair so tightly that he had absolutely no succes in getting out of his cold tomb. He sighed, not giving up he dig his claws into the snow and pushed forward, he only moved a little bit. The snow was quickly beginning to cover his head. He whimpered and pushed one final time, using all his strength he managed to get out of the snow. He was ready to collapse again but knew that if he did that he would just wind up in the same sutuation he had just barely managed to get out of.

He approached the tower, he couldn't see it that great but he could see enough. He circled the tower, looking for an entrance. He couldn't find one. He kept circling it, his side pressed right up against the wall. Finally his side entered a missing part of wall. He looked at it, it was no missing wall it was the entrance. He smiled and entered it. He walked up to the middle of the stairs. Finally he was away from he swirling snow and epic winds. He sighed as he curled up in a ball. He was not used to this.. Where he comes from it didn't even snow, so he had no idea where this storm would be heading. It scared him, being so helpless and not having a clue. He was kind of angry with himself too, usually he would be out in the middle of a hurricane looking for people who were trapped or needed help, but here he was, under shelter and curled up like a scardey cat whimpering helplessly.

He stayed in a ball for over an hour, trying to heat himself up. He could hear the wind growing stronger outside and it whistled in the various holes that were in the thick walls. He unfurled and climbed up the status a little farther. He once again laydown in a tight ball and closed his eyes. Somehow he managed to fall asleep. It was a deep and dreamless one... Something that he had not been able to have for a very long time.

Ookami woke to a creaking. He didn't know what it was, probably just a tree outside that was about to buckle and fall to he ground. He ignored it, trying to close his eyes again, then the creaking grew louder. His eyes snapped open and he looked around, that was no tree, how in the world would he hear it above the screaming wind, especially inside a thick walled building such as this one.. He jumped up, he knew what that sound meant. He began to run down the stairs, wishing that he had stayed at the bottom. He tripped though and flipped over, rolling down the stairs. His ankle caught on something and he felt it begin to break, he manuervered his body, making it so all his ankle did was pop out of place and a few ligaments torn. He yelled out from the pain, it was better than breaking it though, well at least he hoped it was. The creaking kept getting louder, but Ookami couldn't move, he rolled over on his back and watched as the tower started to collapse. His eyes opened wide and he watched as the bricks began to fall around him, slowly at first. then it started to speed up. He rolled back over and used his three good legs to push against the ground. His left back leg was limp and he couldn't move it. He managed to reach some sort of alcove but was unable to get inside all the way. The tower gave out completely, bricks and debis fell ontop of Ookami, a couple landing on his head, His head however was mostly safe so all it did was knowl him out, not crush his skull. The heavy bricks covered his body... and he lay.. knocked out and helpless...

Jace left the others behind in the shelter they had found. she had a feeling that she should search for....what? she didn't know what. 'Stupid partial clairvoyance'. Her mother had always known who needed what and when, always knew exactly what to say to people, she had passed it onto Jace but only in a partial form. She trekked through the snow, searching for something, she winced and whimpered as her rear paw that she had been holding off the ground touched the snow. She was also ignoring the pain from her torn ear and her tail, all she knew was that there was something more at stake out in the wilderness than her being in a bit of pain.

She continued on, limping through the snow as the storm raged all around her, holding her damaged ear down as the wind howled and screamed. She shook herself, the snow that was settling on her body being flung away before it had a chance to melt and sink into her fur to freeze her skin and her body. It took an extra effort to drag her wounded body through the worsening weather. Suddenly she was trying to haul herself uphill and her fatigue increased, her strength waned and her resolve weakened, then she stopped; a loud rumbling noise reached her ears and she ducked down, curling in on herself, her tail wrapping over her paws as several large bricks came flying towards her, yelping as one of them struck her side.

When the onslaught stopped and the rumbling noise died away she uncurled her body and realized just how lucky she had been. Less than 100 meters from her, a large human tower had collapsed, throwing its brick work out as it hit the ground, broken wooden beams strewn all over, she noticed one had pierced a near by tree and gulped. Her heart was racing from the shock and terror, her feeling of searching had come to an end, instead a sickening lurch grasped her stomach and twisted. Had someone been inside that? Was that what she was searching for? Adrenalin rushed through her body, deadening her discomfort and pain and she raced forwards towards the sad, old destroyed tower, not even wincing as she put her weight on her bad leg or the wind dragged at her shredded ear.

"Hello? Is there anyone there?" She called out, slipping in the snow and falling onto her side. She pulled herself out of the drift and carried on, running all around the ruins, searching and calling. Bracing herself she plunged into the rubble and ruins, wading through the snow that was up to her chest. She howled, hoping if anyone was inside they would hear it, when she tripped over a large furry mass and landed again face down in the snow. Picking herself up a second time, she couldn't see what she'd fallen over until a large pile of snow groaned.

She nosed the snow off of the wolf, scraping at it with her paws, she smelt his scent before she saw his pelt but what she had scented made her dig faster, it was Ookami that was buried under the snow and rubble. She grabbed a few of the bricks that were laying on him in her mouth and tossed them away, she sniffed at his twisted leg and felt a pang of similarity, her own leg was beginning to hurt again, the adrenalin becoming ineffective. She had no way to drag him out apart from one, she couldn't shift to optime because then she wouldn't be able to stand at all with her bad leg. She knew Ookami was not luperci but a normal wolf, she also knew she could pass the luperci virus along with her bite. But she made the decision, different was better than dead.

She grabbed hold of the scruff of his neck in her jaws, getting a firm grip. She hoped that she wouldn't pass it along but if she did she hoped he could forgive her. Closing her jaws tighter she began to attempt to drag him from under the snow and rubble. He was very heavy even if the ancestors of her pack gave her extra strength for a female of her size. Rearranging her grip she whimpered as her teeth punctured his skin and she felt blood leak into he mouth. Slowly she began to drag him out from under the rubble, bit by bit, her muscles screaming in protest every time she heaved against his massive bulk. Her ear was throbbing and the wind whipped against it making it hurt even more, her tail was cold where she had lost the fur but she didn't give up on her new friend. Determined if it should come to it that he should live and herself die.

Ookami had began to wake as he heard another faint yelp. It didn't register in his mind because he was still groggy and floating in and out of consiousness. He lay there, unable to move for some time. He didn't feel any pain and he didn't even realize what had happened. He shut his eyes and tried to move and pain shot up his leg from his twisted and torn ankle. It was popped out of the socket he realized, what he didn't know is that there were several ligaments torn in it as well. He groaned, he had a big headache and he was sore in many places. He could feel blood washing out from his body in serveral places.

He lay there, trying to feel what kind of injuries he had. He couldn't make them all out though. He tried to open his eyes but they stayed tightly shut. He thought he had something heavy laying ontop of his head and he tried to move it. But moving his head caused several painful pulses to throb against his skull. He whimpered and groaned again. Then he felt something trip over him. His hope sprung up inside of him and he felt the weight on his body begin to loosen. He felt something bite his neck and he felt some blood flow out before who ever it was began to pull him free. This caused the throbbing to sky rocket and made him pass out again.

He didn't know what had happened but when he woke up he was being dragged. His ankle hit a brick and he yelped out in shear pain. He tried to move and his eyes were finally able to open and what he saw shocked him. The building that he had been in had collapsed and that was what he had been buried under. He tried to look around him and he managed to catch a glimpse of another wolf. It was Jace. Jace had saved him. He couldn't help but smile. His ankled smacked against something again and he whimpered. How had she managed to pull him free, he was very heavy. Another throbe went through his head, and he could feel his consious slipping away... "Thank you Jace...." He managed to get the words out before his eyes shut and he was gone again.

Jace continued to pull at the heavy beast, her jaws locked around his scruff, wishing for her life that she wasn’t passing the virus onto him but seeing no other choice. Soon enough she had dragged him clear of the rubble and also the small wall that was still standing just that she had been afraid would collapse on top of them as well. The limpness in the male's muscles made the task that much more difficult, the throbbing pain in her leg made is damn near impossible. She heaved and pulled and tugged, her muscles beginning to seize up slowly and painfully.

She jumped when he suddenly let out a yelp, letting go of his neck and falling back onto her haunches before leaping up almost immediately as her leg revolted violently against having her entire body weight pressed down against it. She stood panting and her heart going ten to the doze, holding her bad leg up against her body, her muscles shivering with the effort. She limped forwards and saw his eyes open, and try to focus on her, she smiled at him in an attempt at comfort however her smile was thin and forced and most likely not that comforting.

She heard his thank you before he rejoined the world of the unconscious and remained standing over him panting as she tried to regain some of her energy. She looked around wildly for any sign of life in the swirling white flakes and sighed again. She began to dig the snow away from his body all around him in a circle so that it would not melt and seep into his fur and chill him more. When she was satisfied that the snow was far enough away from him she took off towards the ruins of the old castle in a strange limping run that jarred her leg horribly.

She climbed back up the hill that was slick with snow, tumbling back down several times as Ookami had done earlier before making it to the top. She began to search through the ruins looking, aware that every second longer it took her more and more snow would land upon his motionless form. Nosing aside bricks, wooden beams and broken furniture she finally found what she had been searching for, The blanket was half buried in the snow and trapped underneath some fallen rubble. She grabbed the blanket between her teeth trying not to tear it and pulled it out from the rubble. It was fairly largish in size and would suit per purpose perfectly.

She ran out of the ruins with the blanket bunched up between her teeth, on her way down the hill she heard a soft, pained bleating. Looking between the slope of the hill and the direction the bleating was coming from, she turned and ran towards the bleating and came upon a lamb that had been hit by the rubble of the castle falling, she didn't know how she had missed the tortured sounds before. The lamb was in poor shape, bleeding from several woulds and holding one of its legs from the floor pretty much like she was doing. Jace dropped the blanket and charged towards the lamb, the confused herbivore bleating at her stupidly. She reached the lamb and grabbed its neck between her jaws, she twisted and snapped its neck in one clean move. The lamb was dead before it even had a change to realize it was in danger.

She gorged herself upon its rapidly cooling carcass, the heat from the chunks of meat the swallowed and having food in her stomach made her feel a lot better. When she had finished there wasn't much of it left, a new strength flowed through her and she ran back towards the blanket, gripping it between her jaws and running the rest of the way back down the slope and back to Ookami. With quick speed she swept the snow that had fallen onto him off of his body and draped the blanket over his body. It would help somewhat towards keeping him warm and also stop the snow from falling directly onto his body

She reapplied her jaws to his neck, her fangs once again puncturing his skin as she resumed her desperate attempt to find shelter for both of them. She was stronger now and able to drag him further with each pull, soon she was making progress and the tower was out of sight, swallowed up by the storm. As the snow began to build up on the blanket she had to frequently stop and shake the white flakes off before draping it back over his form again. She stopped for a second and raised her white, brown and black head to the sky and howled, asking for help from anyone who was nearby before resuming her dragging, her ears constantly swivelling and listening.

The distant howl had all but been drown out by the sound of the wind. The dark furred wolfs ear perked as the sound entered his make shift den. The blizzard had come suddenly and with almost no warning, forcing Kami to find shelter fairly quickly. Slowly rising to his feet he neared the opening to the den and stuck his head out. The bitter cold wind and snow causing him to recoil a bit as he listened for any sign that the sound he had heard wasn't just his own imagination. His eyes narrowing as he peered out into the forest, with the heavy snow fall the visibility was not very good. Kami knew any soul who was without shelter in a storm like this wouldn't last long, and he didn't intend on freezing to death because the wind was playing tricks on him. He continued to stand and listen, occasionally shaking his head to remove the snow that would accumulate on his fur. " Hmmm." he mumbled to himself in irritation, turning around and heading back into the depths of his shelter.

" Hmmm?" he said again as the sound of howling echoed throughout the walls. This time he was sure of the call, and it worried him. It wasn't a voice that Kami could recognize, but it didn't really matter at this point. He once again turned towards the doorway, his eyes filled with a look of determination as he stepped out into the snow. The wind cutting through his fur as if each snow flake was its own little dagger. Gritting his teeth as he pushed slowly through quickly rising snow in what he could only hope was the direction of whoever sent out the call. As he looked over his shoulder at the path he had been taking he knew the chances of being able to relocate his little safe haven would be small. " Better then my chances of actually finding someone out here." he said to himself almost bitterly. This was certainly a fools errand, but he was unwilling to let someone die out here in this lonely place if he could do anything about it.

He walked forward, fighting the wind that threatened to blow him down on more then one occasion as he began to feel his muscles aching. Panting heavily grateful that at least the cool air did something to ease the burning of his lungs. As his golden eyes scanned the horizon, they fell upon something that caught his interest. It was a human den, not unlike the one he had been invited into on his first encounter with the wolfess Rendall. Despite Kamis reservations about the dwelling he couldn't help but think it would be worth the risk to escape this storm. With that in mind his eyes began searching again, he knew that a lot of the Valley wolves preferred living in these "cabins" Rendall had called them. It made sense that maybe the call had some from somewhere in this area. He would do his best to remember this place, but for now he had to press forward. Narrowing his eyes as he tried to peer through the snow, surveying everything around him he spotted what looked like the ruins of another old human structure on top of a hill that overlooked the valley he was standing in.

That is when he spotted what he was looking for, or at least he thought so. Out of the corner of his eye, a good distance away from the ruin structure he saw movement Though occasionally blinded by the gusts of wind that would carry the snow angrily into the black wolfs face he was fairly certain it was a single wolf. Planting his feet into the ground as he arched his back, sticking his muzzle into the sky a letting out as loud a howl as he could manage. Hoping the call would pierce the wind and reach whoever was out there. As the howl died off Kami set out with renewed vigor, the look of determination back in his eyes as he started heading towards the distant figure.

-wordcount-889-

As he let out the yelp he felt himself hit the ground. This didn't hurt him though. It woke him up from his groggieness. He groaned, still unable to move. However he was able to finally focus on Jace. He watched her, not letting his gaze come off of her. He saw the injured leg and wished there was something he could do so that she wouldn't have to drag him with all his weight plus him being limp and unable to move. He tried to move but even just moving his head shot pains through his body. He closed his eyes, wishing he could do something. When he opened them she was trying to smile. It looked forced but he knew she was trying to comfort him. With all his strength he gave her a small nod. Something that was barely even noticable. But he knew she would see it, or at least hoped with all his might. He hoped she heared the thanks as he driffted away again.

When he awoke the snow was being dug from around him. Jace was clearly in pain but she was doing all she could to help Ookami. He watched her, eyes never leaving her. He would forever be in awe of how Jace did this. He knew that he would probably try to do what she was doing, but he did not believe he would have succeded. He watched in amazment as she did all she could for him as he lay there helplessly watching her. He even then, still avoided looking into her eyes. It was enough that she was helping him, and he didn't want to make her feel uncomfortable. He watched as she ran away, she limped horribly and knew that she must be in terrible pain. He sighed, he didn't want her to do this for him. He closed his eyes, awaiting her return. He couldn't speak, he couldn't hear, and he couldn't feel anything any longer. It was like a dream where he was not in control. His mind was fully working but none of his bodily functions were working.

He tried his hardest to move, but somehow it seemed that his body had been cut off of him. All he could do was watch the place where Jace had dissapeared from his sight. He watched it, barely blinking, not wanting to look away. She finally came back into view and he was relieved. She seemed to be stronger.. What had happened? He didn't really care, the only thing he cared about was that she was back. She was dragging a blanket with her and his mind raced with wild thoughts. He couldn't feel anything at the moment.. Would the blanket help? She made it to his side and rid his body of the snow that had fallen ontop of him in her missing presence. The blanket was laid ontop of him and then she bit onto his neck again and began dragging him away. Where were they going? The thought was quickly pushed away from his mind, for he really didn't care. As long as Jace was with him he knew he was safe and didn't care where she took him. He just wanted to get away from the tower, well what was left of it. He was still slightly groggy but he was coming too now. Still his gaze never left the brave and helpful she-wolf. He admired her and knew that he always would. This wolf had saved his life... He found no way that he could ever come to not trust the female completly. He trusted her now with her life. How could he not? The only thought that ran through his mind was 'Jace saved my life..'.... 'She saved me....' Over and over again the thought drifted in and drifted out. It was the only thing that seemed to be keeping him intact with his consiousness.

Jace was constantly stopping to shake the blanket free of snow. She had done a smart thing by getting the blanket. He was beginning to feel again. He didn't feel pain though.. The pain seemed to be gone. He felt happy and saved and he felt sore. It wasn't a hurt sore... a sore like he had just ran too far and his legs hurt slightly. The soreness ate up his body, but he could feel again and anything he could feel he was happy for. He could hear her now. She didn't seem to be struggling as much now, she pulled him a little more easier. He watched her gently, an admiring look in his eyes. Still he made no attempt at eye contact. He didn't pass out any more. He didn't yelp or groan.... He just looked at her, feeling as if she was the only thing keeping him alive, and he felt that if he looked away he would pass out again... or worse... die.

Jace let out a couple howls and he didn't exactly register what she was doing. He ingnored the thought. He tried to push off with his good back leg everytime she pulled, making the distance they covered grow a little. She kept dragging him when he heared another howl, this one did not come from Jace though. He recognized it, "Jace... it's Kami... Your not alone...."

WC:800 10 points

She did not think, she did not feel. The cold swirled around her but it did not affect her, the snow settled onto her back onto to be shaken off seconds later. She did not notice or feel Ookami's eyes upon her tired frame, nor his adoring and admiring gaze. She did not feel the grip her three good paws had upon the snow covered ground. Her fatigue grew with every step she took until eventually she tripped over her paws and fell to her side in the snow, her vision dimming alarmingly for a few seconds, she forced her brain to concentrate, if she passed out now then both her and Ookami were doomed to death.

Panting heavily she closed her eyes for a few seconds, resting a little and allowing her screaming muscles to relax. The recently eaten lamb meat now churned uneasily in her stomach and she swallowed, determined to keep the meat within her body. Sighing loudly she heaved herself up to her paws, freezing and listening intently when she heard a howl in the distance. Looking around her, trying to pinpoint where the howl had come from she couldn't see anybody but she looked in the direction the howl had come from.

Again raising her five scarred head to the sky she howled back; keeping it going for as long as she could so the other wolf would find where she was, any help was good help in this fight for survival. Her torn and shredded ear turned towards Ookami as he spoke. She was glad he was still holding on but too tired to show the emotion. Kami?...must be another pack member. She nodded, weighing her options. she could wait here for the new wolf and he could help her drag Ookami or she could carry on and have gotten him further along.

She spent little time thinking about it before grasping hold of his neck again, her grip pitifully weak compared to the strength she had displayed earlier, the faster they got to shelter the quicker she could rest...and maybe throw up. Gathering the last of her reserves she began to drag the huge male again towards to direction the howl had come from. Had Jace not been injured and weak and not dragging a male that was probably double or triple her weight she could have easily weathered this storm.

Her bad leg no longer pained her, in fact it had gone completely numb from not being used. Her tail tucked underneath her body, protecting the part that had lost fur from the howling wind. Her shredded ear still pained her from the wind that dragged at it. She closed her eyes, her body wobbling dangerously in the wind, and she thought of the phrase her alpha had shouted before running into the battle that would claim his and everyone else's lives,

'We do not fear pain, we do not fear strife, we do not fear death. We are warriors!'

Ice cold determination swept through her and her eyes snapped open, fire glowing in the mismatched gaze. She would not die today and neither would Ookami, of that she was certain. Even if she had to leap to the sky and cut down the cursed god that raged his wrath against her. With a new speed she grabbed the blanket and again flicked the snow off, replacing it back to his form. Shoving her guilt aside that she might be hurting him and possibly making him a luperci she grabbed onto his scruff and hauled with all her might, dragging the huge male for several tens of meters in one pull. Ignoring the pain from its disuse and injury she used her bad leg to help power her backwards charge

She growled now, a rumbling heathen noise emanating from her chest and vibrating around her body. She bared her teeth at the pain, her muzzle wrinkling up. Anger now fueled her body instead of desperation, this storm would not beat her, she was Jace Denahlii! Queen of the ice and snow, ruler of the cold northern places, where the Ice bears roamed and the snow fell several times the volume here, this storm was nothing to her, a bee sting's pain against a broken leg.

She stopped for the slightest of time to smile down at Ookami and say "Don't worry, we're going to get through this, you and me."She grabbed back hold of his scruff and once again began hauling his huge bulk in the direction of the howl unknowing if the wolf was close or not she was passed needing help at this stage, although she was sure she would pay for it once they reached a shelter and she had a change to relax properly

His pace quickened as the reassuring sound of a howl reached his ears. As he bounded through the snow he couldn't help but wonder why someone would be out here in the open. Certainly Kami had his suspisions, but the truth seemed to be much worse then anything he had come up with. The contents of his stomach churned as he closed the distance between himself and what he had thought to be single wolf. No, he was close enough now to see that the stranger was dragging something, or someone. Kami's lip curled slightly as a snarl escaped his muzzle, the sight of the golden fur mostly covered by a blanket was enough for him to recongize Ookami. Yellow eyes bored into the lifeless body as Kami came to a stop next to the pair, barely acknowledging the odd colored wolf that had been struggling to drag his packmate. Kami's distrusting nature led him to jump to conclusions about the scenario that may have played out between the two wolves leading up to this. As he leaned down and saw the slight rise and fall of the blanket that was covering his friend his mind was put to rest. Ookami was still alive.

With this realization Kamis next course of action was clear. Quickly he looked back up and met the eyes of Ookamis guardian angel. She was definitely not someone that Kami had come across in his travels around the pack lands. Yet there was no mistaken the Valleys scent was on her, even if it was faint. As was the case with many of the wolves he'd encountered she carried the scars of the past on her face, but there was more to it then that. As he studied her he could tell, as strong as she must have been to drag a wolf of Ookamis size even a short distance she wasn't without injury. " We need to get out of this storm." he spoke to her bluntly, staring into the mismatched eyes. There would be time for small talk later, but right now getting Ookami warm and dry was his top priority. " I passed a human den not far from here." his gaze shifting back in the direction from which he had came. His eyes could not see the small wooden cabin, but he knew it was out there and that it might be their best shot for escaping this blizzard.

He did not wait for an answer from the wolfess as he closed his eyes. Focusing on the form that he knew would be the most help in this situation, despite his dislike for shifting. As the form became clear in his mind he could feel the changes start to wash over him. They started slowly at first with his muscles bulging and rippling as he began to grow. The midnight black fur along his back growing thicker and more coarse. Claws and fangs lengthening to match his new proportions as the changes began to come faster. As he grew to his final height and opened his eyes once again to look down upon Ookamis still motionless body as Kami he began to pant. Shifting was never something he did very often and it did take a toll on his energy, but the benefits of added strength could not be denied. While the idea of shifting all the way Optime form had crossed his mind, but he was inexperienced with that particular shift. There was no telling how long it could take, combined with the uncertainty that he would even be able to carry the large golden wolf through the snow without dropping him and causing more injury. The situation was certainly not perfect, but now fully in his Secui form he looked back to the stranger before speaking. " I can carry him from here." his eyes lingering on her as he waited for a response. He didn't know anything about this women, but he had a feeling that she was a fighter. She had carried his friend this far and he felt he owed her enough to hear what she had to say, keeping in mind that every minute Ookami's body temperature was probably falling.

Ookami tried to get a look around as Jace gave a out a loud howl. A responce to Kami. Ookami's heart fluttered, would they have a better chance now? Suddenly Jace seemed to be taken over by a new strength. She grabbed hold of his neck again and this time pulled him very far, in just one pull. She growled and snarled and Ookami was not sure what had taken over her. But he knew whatever it was had probably just saved their lives. Jace stopped for a moment and smiled at him. She spoke words that definatly comforted him. He smiled, it hurt a little, but he didn't care, "Yes.."

He was still being pulled when Kami came next to them. Ookami watched him gently. He seemed to think something else, something bad had happened here. Kami looked closely at Ookami under the blanket and then his thoughts seemed to calm. Ookami would have given a smile, would have said something. But his strength was fading... and it was fading fast. Ookami let his eyes close and he didn't think he would be able to open them. He had thoughts of everything that had happened to him since he had been here, all the wolves he had befriended.. Adonia, Rendall, Falgar, Kami, Temo, and now Jace.. He couldn't let them go.. He couldn't His eyes snapped open and what he saw was Kami shifting forms. He was going to be carried. What about Jace? She would walk? He hoped that just because she was no longer dragging him that her strength would ware out.

He looked at Jace, stared at her. "Jace.... No matter what happens... I will always be thankful for what you have done for me today.... You saved me life... and I am forever greatful.." His words came out breathy and slow. He breathed hard after speaking, for he had so little energy that he couldn't even talk. He watched Jace and never took her eyes of her, even when he felt the hands of Kami wrap around him and pick him up. He didn't yelp when his ankle hung. He just looked at her.

Jace did not notice Kami as he ran up from behind her, too focused on dragging Ookami as far as she could. Therefore when a snarl came from behind her she let go of his neck and whirled to face the snarling intruder. Her own muzzle wrinkling up and opening to reveal sharp fangs and a hellish sounding response to the snarl he had thrown her way, her ears pulled back against her head, her hackles and fur along her spine bristling, her tail poofing and stiffening out behind her, the muscles in her legs stiffening as well.

She moved in front of Ookami protecting her injured friend with her body. She saw on the male's face the thought path his brain was taking and it both insulted and disgusted her. The idea that she would ever hurt a friend offended her morals deeply. She watched suspiciously as Kami moved to inspect Ookami's limp body, still retaining her stiff posture and slight wrinkle of her muzzle, a soft and quiet growl still exiting her throat that was only just audible in the wind, a warning not to try anything funny .

She turned as Ookami made an attempt to talk to her, moving closer to the male's prone form so she could hear over the wind. She smiled at his words and nodded before looking back at the stranger who then stared directly into her eyes. Instead of cowering from the gaze like she had done earlier several days ago with Ookami, she stared back her spinal fur once again bristling, her growl increasing in volume slightly. She had no problem challenging this wolf who was not higher than herself in rank. She would most likely apologize for her behavior later when she was thinking straight but at the moment anything and everything could be a threat or equal death.

She nodded slightly at his words, looking up and watching through the storm until her eyes found the human shelter he spoke of. Showing no notice that she was paying attention to him, she didn't have time to pay attention and she wasn't willing to wait until he had completed his stuttering looking transformation into another form, she could have Ookami closer to the shelter while he shifted.

Knowing she probably wouldn't get too far but any distance at this point was an improvement. She grabbed onto the back of Ookami's neck for most likely the last time and began dragging him while Kami shifted. Having the shelter within her sight had bolstered her spirits and once again adrenalin flowed through her body, blocking out the pain of her leg and ear as she pulled.

She shook the snow from her back that had settled before the white flakes had a chance to melt into her fur, her only thought upon the protection the human structure would provide. She would hand the challenge of dragging Ookami to Kami when he caught back up to them. She only wished she had brought the bad of food that she and Temo had arrived with, it would have given them a way to get some energy back.

hope no one minds! ^^

Unfortunately, Adonia had a lot of work to do before the storm hit, and in the midst of the it all she was trying to wrangle up all the horses and making sure they were blanketed and well fed with fresh water. A task she wished she had help on, but surely Jefferson was busy with making sure everything else was done. The Patriarch had a lot on his plate, and she wouldn't have dared to call for him, she had become a little more shy since last she'd called for him. Adonia should have stayed in the barn, but she wanted to get home, she couldn't sleep without her red dog. Just couldn't. As she shut the gate and made sure it was latched she shifted into her lupus form and began to brave the storm. As she moved slowly and patiently through it, she began to look at it from a more pleasant view. She was excited to see how much snow came down, how thick it would be and fun to play it it. With each cold assault she shivered nearly didn't feel it. Her light silky top coat masked the thick down husky fur beneath. She was built to take in this type of weather and she suddenly wondered what was so bad about it. It was now she wasn't in such a hurry to get home.

The wind blew many scents around like a tornado blowing around debris, however it was a certain scent that disturbed her and she stopped her sudden fox-like leap. It was Ookami's, faint, but unmistakable. If she had been around this area earlier, she would have caught the distressed howl, but the wind was furious and masking most sounds that normally would carry for miles. The scent carried a sort of fear to her, and two other scents entered her nostrils, these were scents she had noticed many times, sometimes with Ookami's scent. She wasn't sure of these other wolves so she never showed herself. Adonia was much more shy around those she barely knew, and even around Ookami she was much more shy than she should be, but that was just her personality. In this case though, she wanted to know what was wrong and her direction had changed to find Ookami.

Taking up the duty of tracking them down, she put her nose down to the smells that were quickly being covered by the rapidly falling snow. However, she was patient and had a very strong sense of smell. Her mind focused on the task and she quickly found where the smell lead toward one of the cabins, but they weren't there yet, she new this by how much fresher the smells got, and by faint voices that came to her ears. She lifted her head to see a large black male, then a female who seemed to be dragging something, it was then this something registered her; Ookami. Her body froze in fear, and her body felt butterflies and horror at the same time. It had been awhile since she'd seen Ookami. There were times she came upon his scent, but it was accompanied by others, much like now, however, the situation was entirely different. He was in danger, and it was now she didn't know what to do. Those other times, she would avoid fearing others. She wasn't very social, quite insecure really. Her eyes watched for a moment stay down wind away from the group.

She wanted to help, she wanted to show herself, but what would she say? How would she be helpful? Adonia felt powerless; useless. Her ears fell and she wanted to poof away. Her friend was in trouble, and here she was standing there like a statue.

Jace was not too happy when Kami arrived. He could tell what she was thinking. She was angry that Kami believed that Jace had done something to him. He could almost read her mind. He was surprised the way she protected him against Kami, who was noticabley bigger than her. He was happy that she did though and he gave her a thankful look. He lay there, his feel for the pain in his body slowly coming back. The open wounds that the falling bricks had made began to hurt, he could feel blood oozing out slowly. He wasn't losing a lot from it though. He could feel bruises begin to form and his headache began to return. His ankle was in an unbelivable pain. The pain was slowly making its way up his leg. It was now at his knee. He whimpered slightly, but didn't want to seem weak so he tried to muffle it. Here Jace was, also with an injured ankle and she was dragging him, who was at least twice her weight, yet she didn't complain about her ankle once.

He smiled when she looked down at him at his small speach. She smiled and nodded her head. He grinned again then looked back at Kami. All of a sudden he felt Jace take hold of his neck again. Kami was in the middle of shifting but Jace wanted to get them farther along. She didn't want to wait for him to finish. He again pushed against the ground with his good legs, adding to the distance covered. He was in the middle of a push when he caught a faint sceant on the wind. It wasn't very strong for it was coming from downwind. Adonia He froze. "Jace.. Adonia is here as well.. Downwind.. She can help. His words were growing fainter and he could feel himself slipping again. He tried to hold onto the sceant of his friend who he hadn't seen in a while. Maybe that would keep him awake. He tried to look for her but didn't see her. He let out a howl that was for Adonia. He wanted to let her know that he was alright. Her sceant was fading away as Jace pulled him further. She was probably watching the scene in shock. The howl was loud but fairly short. He was sure that it would cut through the wind though.. Hopefully. He felt his consiouss slipping.... and he was gone.

OOC: Yay I'm home.! Crap theres no way I can keep up with ya'll during the work week ; . ;

" I thought so." he said to himself, looking down the ridge at the female still painfully dragging Ookami along. She had managed to travel a fairly good distance in the two or three minutes it had taken Kami to shift to his current Secui form. Despite the drain on his energy that the shift took, the new found strength that came with the much larger and more muscular wolf would pay off. He snorted loudly as he pushed himself off down the hill, his longer legs propelling him with more speed then his normal lupus form could have even hoped to achieve with the depth of this snow. Though as he ran to catch up with the pair, his eyes remained locked onto the female. A toothy grin spreading across his muzzle as the kicked up in waves behind him, propelled by his large paws. She was certainly a fighter, he had been right about that and as he approached them he could see her limping on what he could only assume was an injured leg. The determination in her movements though was as plain as day to Kami and he couldn't help but be impressed. Pack rank held little meaning to the black furred wolf, whether it be the lowest Omega or the highest Alpha. Kami did not hand out respect to those that did not earn it in his own eyes, and this odd colored wolf with the mix matched eyes was definitely earning it on this day.

Kami began to slow into a trot as he caught up to them. His much larger form would now tower even over Ookami had he been fit enough to stand. The golden eyes of the wolf looked down onto Ookamis guardian without the normal stony stare he gave most others. " Thank you." his voice was coarse and deep, but the sincerity was clear. " I'll take him from here, but if you can see if there is anything in the human den that could make him more comfortable. . ." his voice trailed off as he eyed the smaller wolf. He was sure that she was tired, but her determination to help Ookami was very obvious. There was more then one way to help in this situation and Kami could only hope that there may be something, anything left behind in that shelter that could help his friend. Without waiting another instant he leaned down and took the golden fur into his own maw. Biting down as gently as he could, but firm enough to keep a solid grip as he pulled backwards. Kamis strong legs were able to pull with much greater ease then Ookami's guardian. Pulling the limp body of his pack mate quickly across the frozen tundra without even a second glance, hoping that their new friend would know what to do.

Jace looked up as Ookami mentioned a name she had never heard, she sniffed at the air finally noticing the faint scent of another wolf. Ookami's sudden howl made her jump and she let go of his neck as he went limp again. She raised her head and looked around for the wolf Ookami had howled to, in the distance she saw the shape of a wolf, black silhouetted against the white snow. She howled to the wolf, a questioning and inviting aspect caught within the howl, inviting the observer to meet them in the human shelter they were headed towards. She wondered why the wolf had not come any closer yet, grabbing the blanket covering Ookami she shook off the snow that had landed and replaced it.

Now she looked up and saw that Kami had finished his transformation and was charging towards them, she was relieved somewhat as she did not think she could have dragged Ookami much further. Moving around the prone wolf's form, she stood into the wind, blocking it with her body so that her friend would be not as troubled by it, standing firm against the gale as it dragged at her fur and ripped at her torn ear. Soon enough Kami caught up to them, the sincerity in his thank you going some way to negate the offense she felt at his earlier thought path.

Jace nodded at Kami's words and took off towards the cabin through the chest high snow without hesitation, her shift to Secui form whilst running taking but 30 seconds. Her larger form tackling the snow drifts more effectively than her smaller Lupus. She reached the cabin and crashed through the entrance, the door ricocheting off of the wall behind it. Her eyes darted around the small cabin, searching for anything. The floor was littered with dried dead leaves. Bracing her body she shifted again to optime form, the energy required almost causing her to pass out. There was an old garden broom resting against the wall that she used as a crutch to walk with.

Gathering up some of the leaves she shoved them into the aged fireplace. She grabbed too stones from the floor and struck one against the other until sparks were created, she continued to strike the stones until the leaves had caught fire, she knelt down next to the fireplace and blew gently onto the leaves, fueling the fire with oxygen from her breath. She limped into the other room of the small cabin, finding a pile of sheets, blankets and quilts piled up in the corner, obviously stripped from the fold up bed that rested against the far side.

Using her free hand she grabbed some of the pile of sheeting and dragged it into the main room, dumping them in front of the fireplace to warm, although not so close that they would catch fire. She returned and grabbed the rest of the sheets throwing them onto the pile as well. She gritted her teeth against the waves of pain from her crushed leg and nausea from using up almost more energy than she had in her. She grabbed a small wooden stool that sat in the corner and began to bash it against the wall until the wood splintered into smaller pieces, she threw these into the fireplace as well, appreciating the heat that it threw out as the wood burned.

She felt useless as she continued to watch, and she nearly backed away trying to fight the tears that welled up within her eyes. She began to scold herself, knowing she was the most pathetic one in the pack. As she turned to leave she heard Ookami's howl, beckoning for her, and she stopped, her ears perking intently and one paw moved to come closer but she feared the others, feared they would want her to leave, want her out of their way. She began to whine in frustration, and fear. It was then the other, the female dragging him also called for her. What could she do though? How could she help? She didn't know, but she began to move toward them, her eyes moving quickly from one unfamiliar face to the other, however, she knew their scents well. It was her job afterall. She knew everyone by scent, however, knew nothing of names or faces. She had tried to get to know everyone, but she was easily intimidated, and she felt awkward around others. Still, Ookami wanted her to come out, she show herself to the others. With her body nearly trembling from fear, she continued to come closer until she was right there.

By time she came to Ookami, the female took off, and all that was left was the larger brute, mainly because he was in his secui form, but still, he towered over her. As her tail tucked some, her eyes looked up to him nervously keeping up as he moved, her eyes looking down to Ookami's passed out form. Leaning in toward him she sniffed over his body. He was still alive, thankfully, but he wasn't doing good by any means. It was hard to see all his injuries as the blanket draped over his limp body. She looked up to the unknown male, wanting to know what happened, her eyes said it, but she knew not everyone was good enough to understand another by looking into their eyes. She looked down nervously, and upset with how much she locked up, how fearful she was of others. Trying to clear her throat, she continued to keep up with the powerful male as he dragged her best friend...her only friend. "..um..what..what happened to Ookami?" Her voice was nearly inaudible with the gusts of wind, but if one listened hard enough, they'd known what was nearly muttered in her shaky voice.

She hoped when they got to the cabin, she'd be able to inspect Ookami closer, perhaps even try and treat the injuries. It scared her not to know what happened. Had he fallen asleep? Does his coat not do well in the cold like the horses? Had he fallen somewhere not being able to see well? Had he gone into the cabin she told him not to? All the thoughts running in her head of the many possibilities. What happened to her Ookami?

With his jaws still gripping tightly around the thick fur along the scruff of Ookamis neck Kami continued to pull. Despite his shift into the much more powerful Secui form, carrying the larger then average body of the golden wolf was certainly no easy task. He still couldn't help but wonder how the stranger had managed to pull him as far as she had, but Ookami certainly had a way of making friends quickly. With these thoughts echoing in his head, and all the concentration the black wolf could muster being focused on the task at hand he did not even notice the scent or sound of a new face running up beside them until she was already there. Kami's breath rose in great puffs from the side of his muzzle as he never stopped moving, wanting no more distractions to keep him from his goal. He only acknowledged the newcomer with his eyes, watching the her carefully as she seemed to pace around the unconscious Ookami. While he had never set eyes on this wolfess before it wasn't hard to tell that she was yet another friend of the wolf between his teeth. He could tell that she was worried and if her movements didn't give her emotions away her eyes certainly did, they had the look of fear.

With every massive paw sinking into the powdery snow the group closed the distance between them and salvation. The snow was accumulating once again on the blanket that had been so thoughtfully placed over Ookami, but they were to close to stop now. With the wind to his back and the strength in his body beginning to fade he met eyes with small wolfess. She had been following them for sometime now in complete silence. Kami had been away from socializing with anyone for a long time before coming to the Valley. In that time he had lost a lot of his ability to pick up on most normal social cues, but the look she was giving him was something unmistakable. She wanted answers, and answers that Kami could not provide. He could only narrow his eyes and look away as he tapped into his last bit of strength and quickened his pace for the home stretch. His muscles burning with every step as he glanced over his shoulder, spotting a soft glow through the windows of the human den.

With the wolfess right on their heels Kami backed himself into the doorway of the cabin. His large claws scratching into the worn wooded flooring of the home as Ookami was dragged across its threshold. The warmth of the home was surprising as Kami noticed the premade spot for their friend directly in front of the life giving fire. As placed his rear paws on the soft padding of the old mattress he began to release his grip from the golden fur. As Ookamis whole body slid onto the bed Kami eased his friends head down. Finally releasing him and taking a step backwards, panting heavily as he looked to the floor. His heart racing. . .

Jace didn't have to wait long before she was joined in the small cabin. The fire burned bright and hot, fueled by the dead leaves and pieces of wood she tossed in. She moved back out of the way as kami finally dragged Ookami inside the warmed shelter. Using her makeshift crutch to steady herself she shut the door, blocking the raging of the storm out from this little piece of safety they had fortunately come upon. Finally her fighter attitude could be abandoned along with her slight lapse of sanity, the fight draining right out of her, if one of the other wolves attacked her now she would be completely helpless against it.

With the adrenalin pumping through her veins decreasing, her body sagged willingly; taking it down towards the floor as she slumped to first her knees and then onto her stomach. Tremors running through her abused muscles, making her twitch spasmodically. Her broom-crutch was left against the wall in case she needed it again later. She rolled onto her side, forcing back the compulsion to simply let go into the darkness that crept in at the edges of her vision. She sighed and performed one last shift back to lupus, the smallest of her forms therefore the one better able to retain heat, something to do with body size to surface area ratio, she couldn't bring herself to remember it at the moment in time.

She allowed herself to relax, kind of ignoring the other two pack-mates for a few minutes while she regained some strength. Finally she opened her eyes and inspected the two extra that she and Ookami had collected on their journey. Her gaze swept over Adonia, seeing within the girl's pelt a husky ancestry that was much purer than her own,

"So i suppose you want to know how I came to be dragging Ookami across the packlands in this wretched storm". It was not a question but a statement.

It was either the large brute had no answers, or didn't want to share them, either way she continued to follow, quietly and submissively. She didn't go far from Ookami's side, feeling the need to be there, to make sure he would recover from whatever had happened. There were many times she wanted to aid the larger male, but she feared being in the way, and it was a grand relief the moment they made it inside, her joy for that fact showed as he laid him on the matress by the fire. Her tail had begun to wag and she watched Ookami, hoping he'd open his eyes, or move..or do something. Her attention was pulled from Ookami to the female she had yet to be introduced to. The female was very upset, for many understandable reasons, but still the fact that the female was upset made Adonia's ears go back and she cowered some near Ookami's body. She couldn't speak, afraid her voice would tremble so she nodded. It was shortly after the nod she finally felt she could speak, "..yes..I do.." She didn't like the word want, but she knew she did. She really wanted to know what happened to him.

Her eyes took in Ookami's body, now it was in a light, and she could see. He wasn't in good shape by any means, and she feared looking under the blanket. What was it hiding? A soft whine came from her. She hoped the crackling of the fire would hide it. This was nothing new. If he died now, it would be the story of her life, but she wouldn't allow herself to show it. Every time she fell for another, every time she got close, they left her...one way or another. Her head turned away from Ookami and her muzzle pointed downward trying to hide the tears, trying to hide her true emotions. She just sat there, muzzle down, eyes looking to the old grains of the cabin floor, with eyes filled with a mixture of emotions, but the sadness and fear shown most predominantly.

Kami sat in the corner of the old building as if it was his own private sanctuary. The soft, partially rotted flooring of the abandoned dwelling smelled of mold and earth. This place was not nearly as comfortable as he would have liked, but it would do. As his panting began to die down the black wolf trembled slightly, causing the thin layer of snow which had not already melted to fall on the floor at his feet. The rush of adrenaline and the pounding of his own heart finally beginning to subside. His ear perking and pointing in the direction of the group, half heartedly listened to the two females as they spoke over top of Ookamis still motionless body. The words barely reaching his troubled mind as his scarred tail began to twitch uncontrollably. His golden eyes slowly narrowing as he continued to stare at the floor, his irritation began to grow. Ookami was certainly not dead, at least not yet.

With every passing second Kami knew that his friend could breath his last and sitting here and hoping for the best was not going to cut it. Rising to his feet as if one of the burning embers from the fire had scorched his tail, Kami made his way to the prone figure. Each step from his heavy frame causing the floor to shudder slightly as he leaned down and took the cold and damp cloth that had been covering the golden wolfs body between his teeth. Jerking his head to the side he sent the blanket flying off towards the back of the cabin, the snow which had already begun to melt exploded into the air as if it was an explosion of frost. As the white flakes began to settle back down into his dark fur he turned to look at the female who was closest to him. His expression was sharp and stoney as she appeared to be on the verge of tears, if not already there. With the broken body of Ookami laid out before them there was no time for that.

" Save it for when hes dead." Kami spat out bluntly, he didn't want to scare off this poor girl but his survivalist nature was more important then his social one at the moment. There would be time for talk later, but right now there was still a crisis on thier hands. As his eyes looked over ookamis body he took note of a few of the injuries he could see. Kami was certainly no healer, but he had to patch himself up on more then one occassion after skirmishing with other wolves. " He needs to be kept warm and dry, so we need some way to keep this fire going. We can use those sheets to dress his wounds if we have to. . ." looking around the cabin it seemed as though there was not much to burn other then what was already broken and in the fire. That could be a big problem and as he looked up and into the eyes of Ookamis rescuer he could tell she was exhausted and in pain. He was unsure about how much more help she would be able to provide. With that knowledge he turned to the newest member of thier party and it was easy to see that the girl was terrified, that she must have a lot of feelings for Ookami. " We need to try and get him patched up, but crying isn't going to help anything." his voice had lost a bit of its edge as he spoke to her. " You know the Valley right?" now he was speaking slowly, almost as if he was trying to comfort her but as serious as ever "Is there anything nearby that could help him?" he waited as patiently as he could for her answer while the blizzard continued to rage just beyond thier walls.

Jace winced internally at how harsh her voice came out and saw the scared reaction from the other doggish looking female, her ears lowering with guilt. Pulling herself to her three working legs, she winced outwardly as she accidentally put weight on her bad leg, immediately lifting it back up against her body where it wouldn't be touched by anything. She limped slowly towards Ookami's body as Kami pulled off the snow wet blanket, berating herself for not thinking of that when he had been dragged in. Looking over her new found friend's pathetic looking unconscious body her one and a half ears flicked back.

She turned away, dragging her tired and weary body into the other room as she heard Kami snap at Adonia in his frustration. The bed brace that she had grabbed the mattress from was made of burnable wood. Even though they had gotten him inside they weren't out of the figurative woods yet. Grabbing one of the beams in her jaws, she twisted hard like she had with the lambs neck earlier, the wood was brittle from years of neglect and was easily snapped off. Her ear turned as she heard Kami once again speaking to Adonia.

Grabbing another beam she twisted until it splintered, her yelp of pain; almost the first she had uttered since finding Ookami what seemed to be hours and hours ago, muffled by the wood in her mouth as sharp pieces cut into her gums and lips. the dust seeped into her nose and made her sneeze violently. She dropped the second piece of broken wood and pawed at her mouth, making sure that no splinters had lodged into her gums or her tongue. She worried for Ookami, where she was from no herbs grew nor did any plants during the long long winter so the majority of the year anyone who fell ill or was injured was almost guaranteed to die, it was a harsh existence where many did not live to the 2 years she had reached.

Seizing the wood she carried it back into the main room and threw it into the fire, she observed the way it caught fire before deeming it suitable to burn and returning for the rest of it. When most of it was in the fire, she put the remaining beam by the fire as a reserve before sitting on her haunches and regarding the other two, an idea forming in her head. She mulled it over before putting it forwards for analysis by the others,

"There are some trees a little bit away from this shack, it it possible we could collect some of the branches and twigs and place them in front of the fire to dry out if they are wet, then if we need them to fuel it further they would be the reserve."

Her gaze returned to Ookami's body, watching the pitiful male and wondering how else she could help, even with his huge body he seemed to look tiny in his unconsciousness. Her tail flicked from side to side as she waited upon the others verdict of her idea.
