Trapped in my Own Despair.

Kami sat in the corner of the old building as if it was his own private sanctuary. The soft, partially rotted flooring of the abandoned dwelling smelled of mold and earth. This place was not nearly as comfortable as he would have liked, but it would do. As his panting began to die down the black wolf trembled slightly, causing the thin layer of snow which had not already melted to fall on the floor at his feet. The rush of adrenaline and the pounding of his own heart finally beginning to subside. His ear perking and pointing in the direction of the group, half heartedly listened to the two females as they spoke over top of Ookamis still motionless body. The words barely reaching his troubled mind as his scarred tail began to twitch uncontrollably. His golden eyes slowly narrowing as he continued to stare at the floor, his irritation began to grow. Ookami was certainly not dead, at least not yet.

With every passing second Kami knew that his friend could breath his last and sitting here and hoping for the best was not going to cut it. Rising to his feet as if one of the burning embers from the fire had scorched his tail, Kami made his way to the prone figure. Each step from his heavy frame causing the floor to shudder slightly as he leaned down and took the cold and damp cloth that had been covering the golden wolfs body between his teeth. Jerking his head to the side he sent the blanket flying off towards the back of the cabin, the snow which had already begun to melt exploded into the air as if it was an explosion of frost. As the white flakes began to settle back down into his dark fur he turned to look at the female who was closest to him. His expression was sharp and stoney as she appeared to be on the verge of tears, if not already there. With the broken body of Ookami laid out before them there was no time for that.

" Save it for when hes dead." Kami spat out bluntly, he didn't want to scare off this poor girl but his survivalist nature was more important then his social one at the moment. There would be time for talk later, but right now there was still a crisis on thier hands. As his eyes looked over ookamis body he took note of a few of the injuries he could see. Kami was certainly no healer, but he had to patch himself up on more then one occassion after skirmishing with other wolves. " He needs to be kept warm and dry, so we need some way to keep this fire going. We can use those sheets to dress his wounds if we have to. . ." looking around the cabin it seemed as though there was not much to burn other then what was already broken and in the fire. That could be a big problem and as he looked up and into the eyes of Ookamis rescuer he could tell she was exhausted and in pain. He was unsure about how much more help she would be able to provide. With that knowledge he turned to the newest member of thier party and it was easy to see that the girl was terrified, that she must have a lot of feelings for Ookami. " We need to try and get him patched up, but crying isn't going to help anything." his voice had lost a bit of its edge as he spoke to her. " You know the Valley right?" now he was speaking slowly, almost as if he was trying to comfort her but as serious as ever "Is there anything nearby that could help him?" he waited as patiently as he could for her answer while the blizzard continued to rage just beyond thier walls.
