It was hard to concentrate with so much running through her head at once. What if she messed up in front of her mother? She'd feel so stupid. She hoped that all of her lessons from Tristan would pay off...that she could actually be of some kind of help, here. She really wanted that.

She crouched down in the grass, waiting for Iskata to do something. She'd never done this before, and wasn't sure how it was supposed to work. When the wall of deer came toward her she watched them go by, not getting up out of her hiding place until they were all nearly passed her. The weakest one would be at the very end, wouldn't it?
