Hadley was too nice. Too afraid. Sebastian had a sudden urge to notch an arrow and shoot Amy until she resembled a porcupine. But the Italian had not killed another Luperci in his life. He'd broken bones, deliberately caused agony; but never taken a life. Still, he thought it would be easy. Sebastian watched carefully as Hadley sat down close beside him, his saffron gaze fixed on the hybrid's deep brown eyes. It was sad. He couldn't bring himself to kill Amy, instead choosing life as a slave. Was that life worth living? No doubt Hadley only forced himself through each day with the hope that Amy would die, or free him. Both days seemed far off.

The Italian'a eyes returned to the flickering fire, the light casting a lustrous sheen over his silky fur, fine and soft even in the winter. His head turned to Hadley once more as the timid slave started a question and trailed off meekly, a shot of indignation at his treatment coursing through Sebastian's veins.

Why shouldn't he buy Hadley? That was quite a good idea, actually. Buy him and set him free. Not immediately, of course. Sebastian's paranoid streak insisted that Hadley would return to Amy or she would take him back. Forcibly. But buy him as Sebastian's slave, keep him in Casa di Cavalieri, rehabilitate him... Yes, it could work. He could be taught how to fight, just in case Amy tried to retake him. Teach him how to overcome his fears in case Amy manipulated him.

Abruptly realising he hadn't responded to Hadley in a few seconds, Sebastian quickly glanced up at Hadley and back to his satchel. "Meat?" he asked, puzzled. Then it struck him. Hadley clearly wasn't starving, but pleasures were rarely offered to slaves. "Or wine?" Sebastian rummaged inside his satchel and pulled out another bottle, uncorking it and passing the whole thing to Hadley. The artisan had to keep his wits about him.

"Drink all you want," he encouraged, shifting a little closer to the taller male, letting their arms touch. He wouldn't sleep with Hadley unless he wanted it, but it would be a nice bonus for freeing him. Hopefully.
