Caprica was not of the floaty, poetic brood of her family, but one of the earthier and more powerfully built wolves, with her grandfather's strong face. When she planted her feet on the ground, there was no doubting her presence. A more subtle personality was nearby somewhere, for Caprica could taste the scent of somebody she recognised although none she could see matched the description. She tucked back her fringe of hair, peering curiously around. A friend would be perfect right now - hell, even an acquaintance. The young woman continued to trace her steps around the lake's perimeter, coming to rest as she lost the scent completely, perhaps in a mixture of stronger ones coming from elsewhere, or in a gust of errant wind. She turned around once, meaning to check behind her one final time, and that was when the undergrowth shivered like a curtain, before spitting out a cream-and-red head that Caprica knew. The recognition wasn't enough to stop her staggering backwards in surprise, arms flailing to recover her balance, before a foot found the lake's frozen surface and all was lost. Caprica skidded on her heel, the other foot unable to even find a purchase on the ice and went down flat on her back, the bottle of wine falling from her hand to smash messily on the frosted surface. Caprica was momentarily winded, one hand resting on her heaving chest as she let out a pathetic moan; but already she could tell nothing but her dignity and her bottle were damaged.
