Words just poured out, filling the air. It was as if Selene had been holding everything inside, and finally was able to speak. He wished he was the same way, even the simplest sentences holding a challenge for him. He flinched as she mentioned Amy by name, fearful that she would come now. He nervously touched the worn blue ribbon on his wrist. Looking down he saw blood on it. Would it work if the blue faded from sight? The words she spoke were heavy, striking like stones as Amy's strength was yet again put to him. At least he knew that Amy wouldn't kill him. She seemed to find him useful. But what if she'd found a replacement for him? His body shook slightly.
Told that Selene loved him more than the world, the stars, even the fireflies, Hadley nuzzled her softly. She was sweet. The question posed forced Hadley to think ahead.
