The night was going extremely well! Gifts were left in the masses for each pack and he had received a few gifts personally from some of the d’Arte members. It was hard not to have a silly grin on his face as he watched from the sidelines. There was a huge sense of pride in his pack mates for stepping up to this very social occasion. He knew that many of his members were not particularly sociable. He had always been a bit of a social butterfly, unafraid of strangers and the authority. Heck he thought of his past leaders with great fondness and friendship, though Savina and him had a fall out when he left Crimson Dreams. Now, as a leader himself, he was proud to say he had no prejudice against any pack and was a very open person, always ready to jump into conversations with a smile.
Many were dancing as he had already participated in and probably would again, and others were chatting along the tables and munching on food happily. He was pleased with his guest’s behaviors; all had been very civil and personable. A red and white coat by the fire caught his attention and a frown formed on his face briefly. His son’s girlfriend stood at the side looking rather on edge. He was very aware of her recent trauma, her own mother attacking her. It seemed that she had been just coming back out of her shell when she was tossed into the ball. Perhaps he should have exempted her?
It was a difficult situation for him to approach. Tony would certainly want to take care of her at every turn but she was a member of his pack, not Tony’s and with any luck she would become family soon enough. Deciding it best to intervene the Knight made his way over to the girl with a soft reassuring smile. Placing large hand on the girl’s shoulder he spoke, “Come Neela. Let’s dance while you tell me what’s going on in that head of yours.” His Scottish voice was gentle but he was fairly sure she would not refuse him. Removing the hand from her shoulder he extended the palm towards her.
