The voice cut her concentration, right when she felt she was about to forget all about Sankor and Cwmfen. Laying her ears back against her skull Adelaida lifted her head and turned to see who was the source of the mockery. The source was surprising, a child, though not an overly young one. Her mind floated back to the coyote puppy, Siobhan, who she had thought she had disliked at first, because of the child’s species, but had, after parting with the pup, felt rather fond of the strange child. However, the child had been sweet if somewhat confused. This was a different matter.

Refusing to raise to her feet for such an unwarranted bit of advice, Adelaida turned her eyes back to the water. “Well thankfully you don’t have to stay here and watch it. So go.” It was not like Adelaida to speak so roughly, especially so newly accepted into the pack. Never would she have dared to cross one of the adults so, but she doubted any of the adults would go out of their way to be rude. This was a child, and while most children should be treated warmly, Adelaida was not in the mood and doubted there would be any consequence for her sharp words.
