//Emwe Soul

tar det siste verset av en sang han ikke kan

So quiet, so quiet - Emwe was a good boy! He was such a good boy, doing exactly what uncle Ly had told him to do, but still the little bedroom he had under the floor seemed to be shrinking. The angry woman was getting angrier, too, and she was using words Emwe did not understand. But uncle Ly was nice to her - which was strange! Perhaps the angry and weird-smelling woman was just playing a game with uncle Ly - sometimes they did that, and then they were like different persons, and in a wholly different place than the cabin. For another second Emwe's mind raced through possible scenarios, though it was hard when he didn't understand all the woman had said, until his mind-play was interrupted by his name called out. Instinctively, his tail started to wag furiously - his name! It was him, he was right here! He almost squealed in excitement, before he remembered what uncle Ly had said, but then the woman was so strange smelling, and he could hear her walking around on he floor. Footsteps rang in his ears (they could be very loud to ears that weren't so old, and when they were right over you!), and all the tension in the air made the poor puppy feel rather uncomfortable. In fact - though he had of course never told anyone this - sometimes the little bedroom under the floorboards wasn't so great, sometimes it was very small. Too small, as if it was choking him, or at least that's what it felt like. Emwe didn't like it, but he wanted to seem brave with everyone, and that's why he hadn't said. But now that the woman was so angry and walked around all over the place, Emwe's excitement quickly died, and his tail stopped wagging - the "bedroom" was shrinking, he was sure! His ears lay flat against his skull again, and after trying to survive it for what seemed like ages, a puny whimper escaped his muzzle. Oh, he didn't want to be here now! He wanted to be upstairs! One front leg pawed once, twice at the boards over his head, and he whimpered again. When uncle Ly was being so nice it couldn't mean something bad, could it? Oh, he just wanted to go up there instead, even if the woman was angry and smelled weird!
