Everything is backwards

Although she’d expected some kind of reaction from the male, she hadn’t expected him to actually get physical and knock her over. Alexey remained on the floor, watching the male’s every movement with utter shock. Then he finally obliged and did what she’d requested. A wave of relief washed over her as little Emwe came into view. He was okay. Honey-hued eyes scanned his body from head to toe. There were no signs of physical abuse. And from the way he snuggled up to the brawny husky, she could only assume that he wasn’t emotionally scarred either.

Lexey didn’t know what to think of it. He wasn’t supposed to like his kidnapper. Things had turned in the male’s favor. She couldn’t physically assault him because he was using the Lillium’s child as his shield. Snatching the child from him was not an option either. There was no time to seek help from Haku either, so she had to hear him out and reason with him. The husky referred to the puppy as “Oliver” once again, and Lexey couldn’t help but flinch as the young one replied. Had Emwe forgotten his own name? He certainly had forgotten Alexey’s. It was a little saddening to hear it. And in all honesty, it hurt. A lot.

Tears were building up behind her eyelids. Her anger had been replaced by heartache. What could she say now? He had the child in his arms, and Emwe wasn’t helping her out. “Don’t you want to come home with me, Emwe?”
