A new start is a whole new adventure

Hello ^^ Welcome to 'Souls!!

She hummed to herself as she brushed, watching carefully for any mats or pieces of dirt that she had missed from the last time she had gone over this area. Her large, brown and white painted stallion leaned into each stroke of the brush, his eyes closing a little more each time that she ran the brush along his side. He was in some kind of bliss, it seemed; she brushed him after each trip of theirs, but the last venture that the pair had gone on had been rather long and she was now taking extra time and care to be sure that her trusty horse was well taken care of after putting up with such a long adventure.

The warrior gave him a few more strokes of the brush before stopping. Bayard opened one brown eye, looking at her curiously before giving in and opening the other as well. He whinnied a loud "thank you", then took a few steps forward to munch on some of the hay that she had put out earlier that morning for him. Ember smiled and nodded, hanging the brush up on the wall of the stall next to the other supplies. This last trip had been a longer one because she had asked him to go with her to the city. With the Dahlia/Inferni war, she wasn't too sure about being in Halifax without a way to get away quickly if she needed it. Ember was very skilled with her sword and axe, but she was not too cocky; she knew that it was possible that there were others out there who were more skilled than she.

The dark wolfess was dressed as she usually was, in a long, black cloak, her weapons belted securely around her waist. Her longsword, Lightning, sat at her left hip and her axe, Amnell, was on her right. The luperci rarely left her optime form. As she stepped out of Bayard's stall the sunlight hit her fur for a moment, bringing out the dark brown in it. In most lights the female looked black, but in direct sunlight she appeared to be more brown than anything.

Ember went into the next stall over, the stall that held Bayard's mother Rachel, and cleared her throat to speak with her. "Would you be interested in going out to check the border with me? Bayard is a bit tired, so I wanted to get the supplies from the city back here as soon as possible so that he could rest." The peach-colored mare's ears were pricked forward as she listened. Ember had the ability to speak to the beasts, to speak low-speech and communicate with other animals. It was an uncommon and hard to come by trait; it had to be taught to someone, and even then it was difficult to learn. She had been lucky enough to be instructed in it at a young age. Rachel nodded, agreeing that she would go out, and Ember held the stall door open for her so that she could come outside.

Once they were both settled, they started out for the border. The majority of the AniWayan border had a large fence around it, and the Danua Ihesdi was interested in seeing if the portion of it that she had mended was holding up to the elements. She had used a kind of metal that was different than the stuff that the fence was normally made up of, and wondered if it would hold better against the weather. She came nearer and nearer to the border and put a hand down on Rachel's shoulder, urging her silently to slow down and stop. Someone was near. She glanced about, trying to figure out which direction the scent was coming from. From the way that it smelled, she could just as well be right on top of the origin of the scent and not have realized it; it was very strong, which meant that they were close.
