-----------------------------

Faolan had always learned to follow the river. It was what his mother taught him when he was weary. His stomach growled hungryly. He hadn't been able to catch anything recently since he had lost his balance back in his travels and twisted his knee cap. He winced with each step but wasn't really that bothered by it. He traveled in his Optime form, accustom to what he was used to at his old pack. It was a week from the anniversy of his banishment, and he wasn't looking forward to the night terrors that seemed to follow him. He took a small wift of the area around him. Territory. He cursed inwardly. He was coming across a pack's territory. He curled his lips in pain as he moved and sat against the trunk of a near tree across the small river he had followed from the main. He placed his padded hand on his knee cap and took a breath. It had popped out of socket again after he popped it in. He knew chasing after that deer and jumping the small mound was going to screw it up. He placed his palm on one side as he did the same with his other hand. Taking a breath and held it and pushed suddenly to pop the knee cap back in place. He grunted and let out a soft whimper through his muzzle as he panted softly.

Pain seem to be his ally the past eleven months since his, as he called it, banishment. Letting out a soft sigh from his lips he glanced down at his wrist. Intertwined was a bracelte his mother made for him from their mare's mane after she past away in the first winter under Galloway's rule. His thumb ran over it gently, feeling the coarse hair prickle a little at the dead ends. He frowned, ears going back and laying on his head in a rather sad fashion. He hated to think he left his family to die at the hands of the brute. He felt weak, worthless and like a traitor. But he ran because of the fear in his mother's eyes. He remembered the times when he was younger, how she would whisper in his ear how much he looked like his father. He knew one thing, he was the only one left. ..I will get my revenge mother....I can promise you that.. He mumbled to himself, bringing his wrist to his chest and holding it there.

Along his body, his stomach was white which faded to a light brown once it reached his sides. His arms had what seemed to be a brown streak coming down, one side outlined in a black shade which went past his elbows. His legs, down to his knees where mostly a dark brown with a mixture of tan. On his head was a messing black mane. Normally he kept up with it but due to recent travel's he let it go wild. His face marking was different than most and in the dark brown was a shine of red, along with some orange near the black coloring. On his left side of his muzzle, was a small split where a scar travelled up to the bridge of his nose. Another was beofre it on the same side while a smaller one sat on the right side of his muzzle. His left eye was gashed, leaving a long scar over his eye. His eye however was able to survive the attack as he still maintains sight. His arms both have one long slash like scar starting at either his lower forearm or upper arm rotating behind and curling forward. Beneath his neck fur lay many teeth scars where he was attacked brutely by Galloway. The most prodomanate scar lays on his left hind leg right above his paw. A large chunk of skin sits scared with no fur over it. It was that same place where his skin was ripped off his body. He pulled his legs up and rested his head on his knees. For once, he'd wait for the arrival of anyone. He was tired of going at it alone.

Hello ^^ Welcome to 'Souls!!

She hummed to herself as she brushed, watching carefully for any mats or pieces of dirt that she had missed from the last time she had gone over this area. Her large, brown and white painted stallion leaned into each stroke of the brush, his eyes closing a little more each time that she ran the brush along his side. He was in some kind of bliss, it seemed; she brushed him after each trip of theirs, but the last venture that the pair had gone on had been rather long and she was now taking extra time and care to be sure that her trusty horse was well taken care of after putting up with such a long adventure.

The warrior gave him a few more strokes of the brush before stopping. Bayard opened one brown eye, looking at her curiously before giving in and opening the other as well. He whinnied a loud "thank you", then took a few steps forward to munch on some of the hay that she had put out earlier that morning for him. Ember smiled and nodded, hanging the brush up on the wall of the stall next to the other supplies. This last trip had been a longer one because she had asked him to go with her to the city. With the Dahlia/Inferni war, she wasn't too sure about being in Halifax without a way to get away quickly if she needed it. Ember was very skilled with her sword and axe, but she was not too cocky; she knew that it was possible that there were others out there who were more skilled than she.

The dark wolfess was dressed as she usually was, in a long, black cloak, her weapons belted securely around her waist. Her longsword, Lightning, sat at her left hip and her axe, Amnell, was on her right. The luperci rarely left her optime form. As she stepped out of Bayard's stall the sunlight hit her fur for a moment, bringing out the dark brown in it. In most lights the female looked black, but in direct sunlight she appeared to be more brown than anything.

Ember went into the next stall over, the stall that held Bayard's mother Rachel, and cleared her throat to speak with her. "Would you be interested in going out to check the border with me? Bayard is a bit tired, so I wanted to get the supplies from the city back here as soon as possible so that he could rest." The peach-colored mare's ears were pricked forward as she listened. Ember had the ability to speak to the beasts, to speak low-speech and communicate with other animals. It was an uncommon and hard to come by trait; it had to be taught to someone, and even then it was difficult to learn. She had been lucky enough to be instructed in it at a young age. Rachel nodded, agreeing that she would go out, and Ember held the stall door open for her so that she could come outside.

Once they were both settled, they started out for the border. The majority of the AniWayan border had a large fence around it, and the Danua Ihesdi was interested in seeing if the portion of it that she had mended was holding up to the elements. She had used a kind of metal that was different than the stuff that the fence was normally made up of, and wondered if it would hold better against the weather. She came nearer and nearer to the border and put a hand down on Rachel's shoulder, urging her silently to slow down and stop. Someone was near. She glanced about, trying to figure out which direction the scent was coming from. From the way that it smelled, she could just as well be right on top of the origin of the scent and not have realized it; it was very strong, which meant that they were close.

Thank you Big Grin

-----------------------------

Faolan had closed his eyes in a slight resting manner. His ears stay focused on the sounds around him. He felt something run over his foot paw. He didn't bother to open his eye as he guessed it was probably an insect or possibly a small rodent. During these times, he was one with nature to say the least. Without clothes he felt closer to the earth and it's inhabitants. His eyes stayed closed as his paw moved to touch the grass beneath him. It was softer than most he'd trek on. Of course, the tranquil of his time shortened when his ears caught something and his nose seemed to catch up. Foot falls. His ears perked and his eyes flashed open. Two of them; female. He slowly rose from his position. Meeting up with females was better than males to his sense. Growing up with two sisters and not that many other male pups for him to play with, Faolan swam in an estrogen pool sometimes. Besides, he seemed to get on better with females. He felt the pinch his knee gave off. He would have to force it back out of socket probably since now it's pinching a nerve. He growled lowly to himself mostly as he placed a paw on the tree beside him. "Thanks for the rest..." He said to the plant as he moved to the scent that carried through the wind. He knew his coat caused him to blend in sometimes a bit too well, but sense his scent was there and probably musky to the females, he would be found hopefully rather easily.

He took a few strides along the small river until he saw something he hadn't seen in quiet sometime, at least before he was able to even morph into his optime form. A fence. He tilted his head and touched it, feeling the coolness of the metal. The pack he must have run into had to have been civilized, probably like his. Or rather, how it was before the tyrant killed his father and took over the pack. He could feel hatred entering his mind, his breaths shorten and his body tense. Just remembering what that male did to his family, and left him with scars forever to show on his body put the canine in a horrid mood. He closed his eyes. Now was not the best time to think so much on the past. First thing was first, the greeting. He wondered if this was a border for the pack so he decided to wait there. Not able to put much pressure on his right knee, he leaned more on his left, crossed his arms and waited.

Smile

She glanced about, pale green eyes narrowed. Where the heck was the smell coming from? Ember nudged Rachel gently to the right, toward the fence, and the horse walked slowly to it. She wasn't sure if the stranger that she smelled had gotten through the fence or if they would be outside of it, and kept one hand on the hilt of her sword just in case. She didn't want to get caught unaware, already a bit tired from her trip back from the city with Bayard.

It was then that she spotted him. The foreign scent got even stronger as she approached, her mare giving a light whinny of greeting to the male. She patted the horse's neck; it was good that she had brought calm, level-headed Rachel with her today. Ember raised her hand in greeting as they came nearer, standing next to Faolan on the opposite side of the wire fence. "Hullo there. You've reached AniWaya's territory--is there somethin' ya came this way for?" She asked. If he wished to simply pass through, then she would be more than happy to escort him.

It was the whinny of a horse that cause Faolan to turn so suddenly. He saw the dressed female, a sword at her hip and the mare. He saw the small wave in greeting and followed up with his own. With a smile he leveled out his posture. Morning...Um.. Great, he was speechless. This would be his first time asking to become part of her pack. If he could blush, he would be. His ears went back in an embarassed manner and his eyes moved to a downcast as he tried to think. Her speech was strange to him and her accent again was off to his ears. He shook his head a little and looked back up at her with a new somewhat confient. I wish to.... He started laughing as he raised a paw to the back of his head and scratched his ragged mane. Forgive me for pausing so much. It's just..well I've been travelling for about eleven months now and I'm been seeking out a pack, and I was kinda hoping if I could be of any use possibly? He said in a very charmingly manner as he let his paw fall back to his side.

He was in a bit of pain standing up there but he ignored it as he stood before her. Maybe should would think he banished from his pack because of his scars, or just attacked. He was hoping the other. Besides, he didn't want to open old wounds to a new face. Then again, he knew he would have to prove his worth. Who would take up someone that can't do anything? No one smart that's for sure. She and her mare were smarter than that; that much he knew. His eyes watched her, their piercing green taking in everything. Seeing another female brought back memories. Good and bad. He hoped he could be an asset.

Ember had scars of her own, though they were probably not as visible due to her cloak. Her most prominent one was the one on her chest, just below her collarbone. She had fought and lost many fights and had acquired new scars each time that she'd fought. Up until she had joined, AniWaya, however. She had been one of the founding members of the tribe and had taken up learning all that she could about wielding a sword. Ember could protect herself better now.

She had greeted strangers before, but each instance was different. When he faltered the first time she offered her name. "Ember. Ember Phoenix. And this is my friend Rachel" She scratched at the horse's neck a little. Faolan seemed unsure of what to say, but she was a patient wolf. She didn't mind waiting for him to choose what to say.

Ah, so he was looking for a home. His scars did tell a bit of a tale, yes, but they did not make her think any ill of him. It just meant that he had battle experience, which she respected. Even though she had lost many battles in the past, she'd gained a powerful insight and had gained experience from the fights. "Could I ask what yer skills might be? You got fightin' experience? Tis what I'm most interested in...I am a Danua Ihesdi here, a warrior. O'course, that's not just what we're lookin' for as a tribe. I was just curious."

Ember He would remember that name well. Her coat alone being so black he could see why she was named that. His eyes shifted to Rachel. Sweet name for the mare he considered. He looked to her again when she spoke, keeping his ears forward and intentaive as she asked her question. Yes, he had experience in fighting. Hunting he could use more tips on, but fighting came all too natrual for him. He didn't like to think of that side of him. He grew up to be more of a charmer, the one that made people laugh. But that was his pup days. He had his father's genes, his mother's guidence. He gave the female a nod. Aye....Fighting is very natural for me. He didn't want to say anything about his past, but it was sitting there right on the tip of his tongue. How he wanted to blurt it out but he held himself. He had to bite his tongue. But what if she wanted more. He couldn't just give her that. He spoke again. I was a keen tracker in my old pack. And I was the youngest to organize a partol...My old pack were nomads. We were always moving so I'm very accustom to changes. I was top in the class of fighters that we did have. Though I ranked more in the stragety way. I dont go charging into battle... He would have been alpha if it wasn't for the tyrant Galloway, but Faolan knew that fate had given him a new route in life and he must follow it.

His knee was starting to really bother him now, he shifted weight, his expression on his face non-changing. He could still feel the pinched nerve and it made his muscles jump. If he was to stand much longer he was afraid that the pinch nerve could cause a bum leg for a few moments and he'd loose his balance. He thought back to the failed hunt and cursed inwardly at himself. He was such an idiot.

She nodded when he confirmed that he had been a fighter. She hadn't been training for that long, compared to some others, perhaps...she was only two years old, and her first year had been spent outside of AniWaya. Before joining the tribe, the warrior had been a bit of a nomad herself; she had joined pack after pack, wandering around as each one had eventually disbanded.

He moved from leg to leg, something that she had subtly noticed throughout their conversation. She hadn't said anything about it, however, unsure if he was simply nervous or if there was something deeper going on. "It's good that you wouldn't go charging into battle. I wouldn't either. Could I ask for your name? And...are you alright? You look a bit unsteady on your feet" She dismounted, standing beside the horse.

"We could go farther into AniWaya if you'd like..Rachel's pretty easygoing, she wouldn't mind a different rider." In fact, she didn't yet have a rider for Rachel. She didn't want to give the mare to anyone outside of AniWaya, though, not wanting to separate her from Bayard, Ember's stallion and the mare's son. Perhaps this stranger and Rachel would end up being a good fit for each other.

If he could blush. Faolan's ears went back when she asked him his name he had completely forgot to introduce himself. He brought his paw up and slapped his own face as he let it fall again. Oh my apologies! I can't believe I missed the most simple introduction. I am Faolan Braeden. At the lost introduction, he gave a slight bow at the waist in respect. After all, that is how his mother taught him. He wasn't too surprised that she noticed his constant shift in weight between legs. He again brought his paw up to scratch his mane at his neck. Well I had a bit of a mishap yesterday and it's still bothering me. He confessed as he took the invitation and stupidly hopped over the fence, only to pinch the nerve more and stumble a bit, grabbing onto a nearby tree. He steadied himself and noticed he scratched the bark. Oh..sorry young one. As if he spoke to the tree, patting where he had in fact made the mark. He turned to Ember once again and Rachel. He could get off his foot paws for a while and it would help him gather the strength that he pretend he had. He walked up calmly and placed his paw gently on the mare's nose. I'm not all that heavy..honest. He smiled again.

Before he took any step on getting on the mare, he had to do one thing. He held up a single paw digit. Just..hold on one second. He said, bending down and grasping his knee as he took a breath and shoved it out of socket. He winced and bit his tongue, grumbling softly to himself as he once again, like before, shoved it back into place. At the pop he wanted to fall over and lay there but he continued to stand. He placed his leg down gently and didn't feel the pinch at all. Now, it was just bruised. I had a pinched nerve... he explained quite simply as he gave Rachel a very calm pat on her next. The mare's coat was beautiful and her mane was the same color as his mother's old mare. His eyes then wandered to his bracelet on his wrist. He had hoped when he was a pup that one day he'd be able to own and care for a horse like his mother had. Perhaps here in AniWaya, he could. Looking back up at the mare he smiled. Well beautiful, I'll need your permission. You are going to be the one to carry me you know He chuckled at the mare.

about to head off to work :3 thought i would get in one more quick post ^^ Next they could talk about what path he might like to take in AniWaya? He could choose a path or choose to remain an Itse for now, the general rank Smile

She should have gone to the opposite side of the fence to help him over; she winced as he hopped it himself and landed over on her side of it. He had introduced himself as Faolan and once he seemed more steady she reached out a hand so that she might shake his for the introduction. "I hope you're not hurtin' too bad, that it's something that can mend. I don't know too much about healin'..." Her ears went back slightly and she frowned. Perhaps Dawali could take a look at the leg if it wasn't doing better later on.

Rachel sniffed at the wolf's paw, taking in his strange and foreign scent, then sneezed. She bobbed her head a bit, reaching her neck forward so that she might be able to lip at his fingers a little. "Heh. I think she likes yeh. I'll walk alongside; I got two good workin' legs."

lol, reminds me of myself when my husband tells me to get off "wait one more post!" xD and sure Big Grin sounds like a plan ^^

----------------------------------

Faolan chuckled and waved his hand loosely. No worries. I don't hurt too bad He said as he gave the mare a soft pat on her neck. He jumped a little when she sneezed but laugh, letting her lip at his fingers. He wiggled them some to see if he could tickle some of her lip hairs. He was smiling, and it had been a while since he had, at least this widely. He gave a nod and moved to mount Rachel. It had been a few good months since he had been on a horse, and the last time he was on one the stallion bucked him off. He took hold of the mane at the shoulder and took a calming breath before he heaved himself up and rested gently on the mare. He held onto the mane loosely and gave the mare a pat. He doubted he was too heavy but then again he could always be wrong.
He moved to lean against Rachel's neck, taking in their scent. It was strange and foreign and he loved it.

He sat back up and looked to Ember. What is AniWaya like? He asked, wanting to learn some more of the pack he'd soon be meeting. Do you all wear clothes?... He asked rather openly. He never did wear clothing but jewelry was something very common in his old pack. He was one of the few that hardly wore any. Now the only thing connecting him to his old life was the very bracelet of horse hair on his wrist.

lol XD yes.

She was now used to the tribe and its ways. Ember had to look outside of herself for a moment to try and imagine what it would be like to be a newcomer to the tribe, unknowing of the ways and customs of their large family. She supposed that she probably looked pretty foreign. There were more up-to-date clothes in the city, but ever since she had read the books about the female knight Alanna, Ember had been caught up in the medieval era. That was perhaps why she looked so odd...modern day Luperci didn't wear long cloaks or have weapons like she did. Especially not a longsword like the one that she had. A more modern weapon would have been a knife or perhaps a gun.

He mounted up and she started to walk along next to the pair. "AniWaya is a place of nature and beauty, of tradition n' ceremony. Most every wolf has a connection ta a spirit of a creature that once roamed th' living world--our spirit guides. They can be any animal; a wolf goes on a spiritual journey and discovers their spirit guide while on that journey. My own guide is an orca whale named Utriu, very large and black and white." She explained. That was not all that AniWaya was about, but it was a good start. "And not everyone here wears clothing; I wear my cloak by personal choice so that I might conceal my weapons from would-be enemies if I need to. It is your choice, too, if ya wanna wear somethin."

She observed the nature around them as they walked, her paces easy alongside the horse. AniWaya really was a beautiful place, and she admired the greenery with new eyes, turning her head back after a short time to offer the newcomer a smile. "I guess the last thing to know about would be the profession paths. There's one general rank, Itse, that most newcomers are put at...unless ya know of a specific thing you think you'd like to do for the tribe. I'm a warrior...started out as an Ayastigi."

....haha, now I want to put Faolan through a spiritual journey xD he missed his

---------------------------------
Faolan took in the sights in sounds as he rested his paws on Rachel's shoulders. He looked over as Ember spoke, listening intensively. AniWaya sounded similar to his old pack but they seemed to be slightly more civilized of course as the thought crossed his mind. He tilted his head to the side when she mentioned the Spiritual Journey. He frowned slightly, looking away and up at the tree's canopy. I wasn't able to do mine... He seemed to mutter almost non-coherently. He was scheduled to do his the day after he approached Galloway. He let out a soft sigh as he let his head fall back down and rest on his soft mane. Clothes though, weapons? Faolan personally loved to just use what he was given, but he had fought with a spear before and enjoyed the experience with it. He had made his own but left it when he ran. Perhaps he'd make another later on. He seemed to chuckle though when Ember mentioned only one general. I doubt I'm that great... He said a bit louder than his last comment.

Again his mind wandered from where he was to the past thoughts of his old pack. The rage from what happened fueled his actions now in hopes that they would travel down and he would once again face the tyrant who took his family away. His brows creased, his lip curled. The memories flooded his mine like a broken dam. The attack happened so fast but he could still see it. His mother's tears, the blood. His fist clenched as his claws almost broke the skin on his pads. The sudden realization of the pain he had been conflicting to himself made him snap out of it. He looked over, in hopes to once again lighten the mood as a large goofy grin was slapped on his face. So are there any games? Contests? Puppies? I love playing with pups. He decided to share, remembering how before he left there were four 5 month old pups who loved his attention.

A "general" rank meaning...one basic rank Big Grin sorry for my wording. Not a high rank, just a regular normal rank for wolves who don't know what path they want to take. Also, do you know which path? I can get him titled up :3

Ember had created weapons of her own, yes, but they were far from adequate. She wasn't too good at designing ones of her own yet. That and the fact that she had no way to work the bits of metal that she had found into anything usable; she had read in a book that there used to be things called "smiths" or "blacksmiths" who would get metal really hot and shape it, but she had no ideas about how to do that. Hmm. It was something to look into, most definitely. She had gotten lucky with her sword, Lightning. She'd found the blade in the old abandoned castle out past the human city. "Well, either way...I'd be happy to have you here in AniWaya as long as you're serious about staying. But I'm unsure what rank you would like. Should you be an Itse for now, one of the undecided? Or do you have a task in mind? And what do you mean, that you were not able to do your journey?" Ember asked curiously. She had never been to a pack where they'd had spiritual journeys before coming to the AniWayan tribe.

The tribe did have games and contests every once in a while to keep the tribe together and to keep everyone connected. They'd had a nice hunt before as a tribe as well, and had many tribe meetings. Those were miniature parties in themselves, after the customs were performed and the spirits pleased. "Oh, yes. We keep pretty busy around here...I have a set routine for m'self, but we've 'ad a few contests and hunts that I've partaken in as well. We also have tribe meetings, which're always interesting. There are usually festivities afterward. And pups? At the moment we have a couple of pups, one of them being my son Lotus. He's always runnin' around here--I'm sure you'll meet him soon. He's a character, that's for sure."

ah xD well he'll be a good warrior Big Grin..god and sorry for the shortness...:/

-----------------------------------

Faolan was enjoying himself as his paws continued to stroke and twirl his fingers in Rachel's mane. He was zoning in and out as the wind blew in his face. He looked over at Ember and sighed. Yeah. In fact I was due to go on it before I left my old pack but...well complications arose so I never got to do it. He said in a slight hurt way. He always wondered what his spiritual guide would be. His mother's was a panther and his father had the stag. He looked forward again hearing that Ember indeed have a son. His ears perked forward. A son? Lotus..Like the flower. Though the way you describe him he seems to be active little guy. He chuckled and leaned down, nuzzling the mare's neck. He felt at home already. You know..I would like to join you in the warrior rank...if it's ok with your pack leader. I'd love to be of help. He smiled.

His new life would be interesting, and worth living. No longer would he have to worry about his next meal, or if he was going to live to the end of the week. Having a pack gave him a sense of family. Only problem was that was he ready mentally to let them know what happened or possibly get passed the night of terrors. But it was only the beginning, and things so far, were looking way up.

no problemo! And welcome to AniWaya!! We can continue with them finding him a den or end this ^^ but you're now free to post anywhere now Smile I'll get you titled up.

She nodded. His pack must have been somewhat similar to AniWaya...at least in spirituality. She wondered more about it, but wasn't sure if she ought to ask. Ember felt certain that she would see him again soon...she would inquire more about it later. She didn't want him to feel like he had to answer her just because she was the pack member and him the newcomer. Perhaps they would become friends, and such things would become more easily shared. It was always good to have more friends in the world. So she simply nodded.

"Haha, yeah. Like the flower. He's not your typical boy. I think you'll learn once you meet him." She felt oddly comfortable around Faolan. At his next words she looked back up inquisitively. "That would be fine. I didn't mention...I'm sorry. I'm one of the leaders here in AniWaya. I can accept you myself. And I will, right now. As of this moment, yer a member of the AniWaya tribe."
