still short. Oy.

"Of course." Nayru spoke the words easily and turned naturally, leading the way towards the wasteland as if it was unthinkable that Nayru would turn Liliana down. The girl led the way expertly, skirting the shoreline and Berwick until the vineyards began to thin and Berwick because visible to their right. Nayru didn’t pause to consider that Liliana might wish to see the buildings of Berwick, as the vineyards butted up to the property of some of them. They had a destination already and Nayru was focused on that. "The wasteland is where humans piled up many of their belongings… I think when they didn’t them anymore."

Yes, even though Nayru didn’t know what many of the objects did, and though a lot of it was rotting away and useless, sometimes one came across something worthwhile. Although Nayru hadn’t removed anything from the wasteland, she occasionally went through it, to see if she could find anything interesting. Perhaps she would show Liliana how to dig through the human’s trash to uncover treasures. Metal objects, rusted usually, plastics that never changed despite how long they sat around, and objects and material Nayru didn’t even have names for. Yet perhaps they would dig, it was just fascinating to witness the mound of once tangible objects slowly, so slowly trying to decompose their way back into the earth. And they were there, standing before the garbage dump in all it's glory.
