The pelting rain was driving her further and further from home. Colibri padded along on all fours, coat dark with rainwater and hanging heavy on her small frame. She had been straying more and more from her Crimson Dreams haven, almost consciously tempting the fates to throw some trouble her way. And yet, she was still fine... She didn't really know what to do with herself. She was completely avoiding Anu, hadn't even seen her face recently, which was fine. Wasn't it fine? She told herself it was, anyway. If they never talked about it, it never happened, right? Wresting with the denial of a break-up, Coli continued her lonely trek without paying attention to where she was going.
Rain turned the churning sea a steely grey, mirroring the cloudy sky above. Coli blinked, peering up into the driving rain. Where was she, anyway? She had offhandedly assumed that if she followed the coast, it would lead her back to the familiar Shiloh Hills. The weariness in her gait indicated that she had foolishly followed the beach in the wrong direction, and for quite a ways, too. Huffing a sigh, the earthen-furred wolf shook herself vigorously, shedding a spray of rainwater from her waterlogged pelt. She needed to wait out this storm or she would only become more disoriented.
Blue eyes peered through the curtains of drizzle, barely making out silhouettes of rocks and shrubbery. A cave would be ideal, but she wouldn't get that lucky. She was not a lucky wolf, that was for certain. Cold was beginning to set in, the drafty breezes feeling like ice beneath her wet fur. She began to move faster, scurrying along the coastline, ignoring the jagged rocks beneath her paws. There! That looked like a tree, and she was small enough to be sheltered beneath its leaves (probably)! Closing her eyes to shield them from the relentless elements, the hapless female darted forward, not stopping until she bumped into something... furry.
