OOC here!

Hungry.... so hungry! No matter where the bear's travels took him: across a desolate, dusty desert, or a large, sprawling field of flowers and herbs, he found that there was always one constant in his life. Hunger. Well, there was loneliness too, but being a solitary animal, he found that he only missed his mother and his brother's limited time together every once in a while, yet he was almost always hungry to some degree. Though he'd faced his fears and had wandered into the Crimson Dreams packlands to be accepted for the first time with kindness instead of fangs and feral growls, he found that such a life of security was not so easily slipped into. He found the calm and tranquility unsettling, and had set out into these unclaimed lands at a steady gallop to clear his head.

After only a short time he'd reached this decadent forest full of the rich scents of earth, trees, and a large body of water not too far away. He rolled around in the pine carpet and slumbered happily in the shade of a rather large tree, sleeping only for an hour or two before his furiously roaring stomach caused him to jolt awake, hopping to his feet, glancing to and fro for a threat. Once the cobwebs of sleep fell away, he relaxed his muscles and sighed sadly. "Whelp, guess I'd better go try to fish." he grumbled to himself as he lumbered off in the direction of the smell of water.

Though he was in fact a bear, and many things came instinctively, fishing is an experience that is passed down from mother to cub, and he was raised in such a way that his mother taught him how to fell a deer, and how to catch a rabbit if desperate, but not how to fish. He'd tried it himself a few times, but the things were too slippery and fast for him to try to scoop out with his paw, and he'd tried to bite them, but he always missed. As the scent of water grew stronger, he paused and perked his ears as he made note of a low humming sound. It felt somehow familiar and nostalgic, but he couldn't quite place the origin. Wary of a sound he didn't recognize, he proceeded with caution, hoping it would simply go away, but found with despair that the humming grew louder as he approached the water.

It wasn't until he'd gotten close enough to the lake that he could spot it up ahead that he noticed the source of the buzzing cacophony that had been filling him with fear. An old, rotted tree, had a rather large hole in the middle of it, from which spewed little buzzing insects, going to and fro in such quantity that their buzzing was very loud. At seeing this, Ciel became very excited, his maw opening and hanging as he bounced a little on his front paws. Though he'd never before seen an active beehive, they had once come across an abandoned one before, which was empty- much to mama's frustration- but she had told them about the little buzzing insects that worked hard day and night to make honey, which fed their big fat mother, and their little babies. Apparently the things they held dear were also the most tasty- the mother and babies were very good protein, and the honey was really sweet and tasty! She'd shown them both how to break in with her paws, and he'd watched well. He remembered her saying more, but as to what she actually SAID, he couldn't remember. He'd been a bouncing little cub, barely able to stay still for more than a few minutes.

Deciding then and there to enjoy the tasty bees for Mama's sake, Ciel forged forward, and stood up on his hind legs in front of the hive, blocking the incoming bees from their point of entry. Eagerly, he stuck his paw in, dug his claws into the rotted wood, and pulled away at it with fearsome force. It splintered, and fell away to the ground, ' revealing a deeper hole, and a whole lot of buzzing insects, but also a golden liquid, which began to drip out of the opening he created. He licked at it eagerly, and almost fell on his back with pleasure. It was so good! Meanwhile, the little flying insects buzzed angrily around him, pouring out of the massive hole and bouncing off of his big furry body. He paid them no heed and continued to lick at the dripping honey, and they began to sting at him, but his rough hide and thick fur made it of little consequence to him.

When the honey was all done dripping, however, he knew that it was time to dig deeper, and search for those tasty babies as well! Without thinking, he stuck his big nose into the deep hole eagerly, and quickly let out a cry of anguish as he felt the insects cover his muzzle and sting him right in his sensitive nose! He gave a roar of pair and fear, pulling away and trying to scrape the things off with a frightened paw. Somehow sensing his weakness, the bees seemed only to swarm more around his face, and he began to flee blindly in the direction of the lake, giving frequent moans of fear, and shakings of his head, despite what little good it did him, for the soldiers knew nothing of mercy- only of anger and revenge. He continued his hapless stumblings until he mercifully fell face first into the crystal blue lake.

The buzzing insects apparently could not swim, and those stuck to him fell away, writhing and kicking pitifully. Those that had been in pursuit buzzed above him in the air, and he quickly swam away from the terrible, stinging little monsters! His nose, his poor nose! It was like a miniature black porcupine, which was quickly growing in size. Eventually, he surfaced out of necessity, and found that thankfully there were no more angry insects, ready to continue tormenting him! Paddling over to the bank, he ignored the shimmery fish fleeing his large, kicking paws, and pulled his miserable self onto solid ground, crying miserably as he tried to gingerly scrape at his nose with a claw, and found it only made him hurt worse.
