He'd been traipsing about this area for a while now, and had already run into some particularly curious individuals. Caillen seemed to be a stranger-magnet; In the miles that this forest area stretched, why, one could walk for weeks and never see another individual. As it was, he'd been out on his own for only a short while now, having left home in the Cour des Miracles pack on a journey to metaphorical manhood. Whether that was working or not was clearly debatable.

So it was that on this day, he stumbled into an entirely fascinating and terrifying scene. There was a creature - A HUGE creature - bellowing like its fur was caught on fire! It was the roars that drew Caillen towards the mammoth mammal, just in time to watch from the safety of the trees as the poor beast thundered down into the water, and in a peculiar manner, shoved his head under the glassy surface.

For a long while, the wolfdog didn't move. He'd never seen an animal like this before, although he thought he might have seen a drawing of one, in a story-book back home. He vaguely remembered the story-book beast having great, big teeth, too. So Cai waited and waited until the monster re-emerged, and lumbered up to wail pitifully for itself. Satisfied that any noise he made could be covered by that terribly sad sound, the youth began to skirt around the trees, trying to get a closer look.

The creature was big, brown and furry. The sort of fur that looked like a pelt he'd seen on the floor of the old Chien Hotel, but Cai couldn't be sure. Did that mean that this was a prey-creature? The boy's stomach rumbled softly; he hadn't eaten in a while, and one of the drawbacks of these self-adventures was that all hunting had to be done solo. Because of his large size and striking Merle coloring, Cai often found it miserably difficult to hunt small prey. However, moments before arriving on this scene, he'd stumbled on some dumb luck - A wounded hare. He'd broken it's neck, and now the stringy, lean creature was slung over one muscular shoulder.

His curiosity was eating away at him. The slate youth simply had to know what sort of creature this was! And besides, it looked to be in such pain... Mama had always told him to be helpful when needed. That was her duty, being a healer and all. What if this larger-than-life creature needed his help?

Re-slinging the hare over his other shoulder, Caillen adjusted the worn and torn checkered grey scarf about his throat, before proceeding out of the line of the trees and into the Bear's vision. Aware that he probably hadn't been noticed yet, the poor fool cleared his throat gingerly, stretching a friendly smile across his maw. "Err, hello? Hello there, are you hurt?"
