The boy felt a surge of warmth and belonging with her returned expression of love, giggling and cuddling closer to her. It would take Oak many months, and maybe even years, to understand and accept fully what his mother had shared with him today. He would spend hours pondering it, gradually making sense of it in his mind, but for now he was content to remain slightly puzzled. He was on the rocky road that all must travel in their coming of age, but day by day he would get closer and closer. Perhaps, with this newly acquired perspective of himself, he might at least sleep a little longer in the mornings.
