Evening was coming fast, the sun making last of it's decent behind the horizon, and soon the lands would be blanketed in darkness. Nox had been farther into the forest, settling down for the night with her siblings, when something caught her eye. It looked, at least from what she could see, like a yellow-green glow, much like her own eyes. It caused her to jump to her feet, wide-eyed and searching. A firefly. It was the first thing that came to her mind, but she couldn't see it anymore. Nox loved fireflies and she'd yet to have gotten the chance to get to know the ones in this area. She crossed her arms suddenly, rubbing her hands through her fur, crouching down. She began off slowly then, quiet in the way that her tiny body moved, heading for the area that the light had come from.
The girl continued on for a while with no sign of her supposed firefly, frowning as she went along. Suddenly, as she took a step forward, she lost her footing and landed face first against the ground. The inky black girl wasn't still though, she was moving, sliding across the ice. Panicked, she attempted to scramble her way to her feet, but when she managed to put most of her weight down on one leg, a sickening crack broke the silence. In she went, feet first, plunging down into the cold water. Her body, though small and light, sunk fast but she was able to fight her way back to the surface. "Z..zz..a-adi?" She wailed, though her voice wouldn't carry far. She was shivering already, hands gripping with all that they could against the side of the ice, but she was already starting to slip.
