She was tempted to call the male out on his long list of talents, but she remained silent on this matter. She supposed that if she could learn the language of the lower beasts, learn to read and write, and eventually tell stories in the three short years she had been living in the mountain pack, it was possible another could achieve similar results in such a time. Although she found ages hard to guess, the male looked young, which made his claims all the more fantastic. She also surmised that he was young enough and able enough to put these skills to the test should the time come. "That's a lengthy list you have," she replied with a small, quirky grin. "Would you stay long enough to put your skills to the test?" Again, she regarded the male with ardent seriousness. She had seen far too many friends leave, mates disappear, and strangers fade away. In her years as a member of the pack, so many had come and go that she was growing weary with the constant motion. A new face was always welcome, but only if his loyalty would keep him there.

Indeed, she had seen wolves remain in the lands for their entire lives, moving from one pack to another, constantly switching their allegiances and loyalties. No longer were they members of any one pack: they soon were only loyal to themselves and true to no one. It was a shame there were so many wolves seeking a home, but so few willing to commit themselves to one. Indeed, many had their reasons for leaving, whether it be by the beckoning of the ghost of a deceased brother or to help an injured family member, but it did not make their absences any easier to bear.
