Short posts okay?

Today was a good day, at least for the sick male. The weather was wonderful; sunny and warm, but not too hot. And he was lucid enough to appreciate it, when only made things better. Being sick was certainly not fun… in fact, it downright sucked. And to think this all could have been avoided if he hadn’t been so eager to be up and about again. He’d pushed himself too hard after recovering from his last bout of pneumonia, and ended up regressing. Some of it had been unavoidable, such as his fight with Glaesrim… and some of it hadn’t like his traipsing around the valley.

At least he knew that Storm was in good paws while he took a much-needed respite. His son-in-law Pilot, though inexperienced, had a good quality about him, and was a good second-in-command… so Phoenix was confident he’d make a good alpha for the time being. Storm needed a healthy leader who could remain conscious all seven days of the week, not a quivering mass of coughing and… other expulsions of fluid. He would reclaim his throne when he was ready… but until then, Phoenix would just have to lie here, soaking in the sun and recuperating. At least he had more time to spend with his children when he was awake.

Sunbathing brought fond memories of his mate. Iskata loved to curl up on a boulder and soak up the sun’s rays, though Phoenix himself was too dark-furred to enjoy it normally. He missed her so much… he had lost track of the months, but al least he had fond memories to tide him over until she returned to make new ones with him.
