Broken Promises

A smile curved Saul's lips as his teacher gave a soft chuckle to his joke. He liked that, despite their rocky start in this relationship they had managed to make friends out of one another. Saul remembered the first time he had spoken to Saluce, the nervous fluttering of his stomach as he asked the grey male to teach him to protect his famiy. That had been a while ago but he still remembered standing in Saluce's workshop, unsure what was ailing the man but desperate at the same time for his approval and tutalege. There had been something about the grey man that had made Saul want to stay, despite the horrific mood he had been in and the taunting that had made the young timber wolf angry. He was very glad he had stayed in Saluce's workshop that day, else he would have lost out on a good friend.

Cinnamon backed ears cupped forward to catch the grey mans words. He needed to find nails and screws. He would go out to the wastelands on the borders of Dahlia and see where that took him on the nail front. He wasn't entirely sure where to get the lumber from- he didnt fancy hacking down loads of trees just for his house. However, it was one more thing to be done whilst his teacher was away. He would learn how to make a bow and he would maybe even start with actually making one. And he would look for nails and screws and hopefully find enough limber in the wastelands not to chop down many trees. They were Dahlia's protection in some places and Saul was a little reluctant to take that away from his pack mates. So he gave his teacher a nod and a smile.

"Nail hunter extodinaire, at your services. The snow is holding on the ground so unless it snows again it should be fairly quiet when you return."

Saul offered, giving another quick peak at the intelligence within that small head of his. However, he could see they were very close to the borders, the flat planes that lay close to whisper beach. They would be parting soon and Saul wasnt sure if he was ready. The childish part of him wanted to cling to his teachers paws and beg him not to go. But he was growing up and he tried to tell himself that Saluce needed to leave. As the grey man crossed the borders Saul stayed within the relative safety of Conor's pee marks. Saluce turned and looked at him for a long while. Bringing his gaze up to meet the blue depths of his teacher Saul held it for a long moment before dropping his first.

"I will miss you Saluce"

His voice was strong as he looked down at the grey mans feet to save antagonising him. He might have been his friend but there were still rules and protocols to be followed.
