The thought sort of scared her, but only the look on his face in her thoughts. For someone to die and the expression in his eyes be the last thing that they will ever see. Not a good thought. And she didn’t know what it was like to die. Do you remember what you last saw when your soul leaves the body? Does the soul even leave the body? She didn’t know anything about death, and even when she did know something about it, it would be too late to tell anyone.

She wanted to be prepared when she messed with him next, and now she had all the proper equipment to ensure her own safety. She still felt his other half lingering in the air between them, but he wasn’t making Itzal kill her yet, so that must’ve been a good sign. She didn’t exactly want to turn her back on him now, but she did. And she hoped it wasn’t a stupid idea.
His next question didn’t get an answer. Instead, she walked away with her hand gripping the sword sheathed in her belt. The one with the jagged, painful edge. She hoped he would catch the drift and follow, and not eat her. She had all the weapons she wanted, and the last thing she needed was to be killed and not be able to use them.
