Liev was a very good marksman, she had to admit. Against the field mouse the knife was superior, besting its target. Had she been perhaps a creature who ate purely vegetation, she would've named the process cruel, seeing the mouse be mutilated more that it need be. Did the blow to the back not kill it first...? But it's pain was short, and she could not contradict herself on that she ate meat and thence was cruel any way she looked at it. She barely noticed the minute trace of thread spooling from the man's fingers as he set up something familiar--a trap--and returned to his space next to her. Around the body was a circle in the virgin snow, blood bereft from the body to stain it black as it dried in the chill air.

Still she remained quiet, breath held in understanding as she realized what he had done. He turned a chance into opportunity. Still and silent as shadow he remained, an ambush waiting for another fortuitous chance to come by. The baiting method intrigued her, as she had only hunted by direct means herself. But this man was obviously a hunter of skill and precision; not to be trifled with. Her breathing resumed as her claws dug into the snow to an unheard rythmn, anticipation plain in her features. Together the two blended into the snowscape and trees, barely anything visible but for the few bright colors that the shade hid for them. This was their native habitat; their element.
